Chapter 105

The sight of Amelia injured on the floor tore at their hearts and all four wolves ran to her aid immediately. Their Luna needed them at that moment and they needed to respond.

The two Lycan warriors ran towards the doors to the office and shifted into their Lycan forms as they stood guard against Thornbury. Thomas and Hannah also rushed to Amelia’s side to check on her injuries as she struggled to stand.

She only noticed their presence when she shifted back into her human form. Hannah held onto her injured arm as Amelia held onto her for support. When Amelia looked up from where she was sitting, she saw Michael’s worried expression as he looked back at her. All she could think of at that moment was how happy she was to see someone she cared for after so long. So she gave him a sad strained smile, unable to hide her happiness in that moment.

Michael on the other hand looked infuriated at the sight of her injuries. He growled out loud before he faced Hannah.

“Stay with her!”, he said as he turned and walked over to his Lycan teammates. “Let’s take him down!”

His declaration made the Lycans growl out loud in agreement. This was their new target.

Looking into the office, they got a better look at Thornbury’s Lycan form and he was almost as intimidating as Jason’s Lycan form. And it was now evident to all of them that turning an Alpha into a Lycan produced a powerful creature as its by-product. So Michael could tell that this was going to be a tough fight that they had on their hands.

Seeing the invaders at his door, Thornbury roared at them but the warriors stood their ground.

“I will kill all of you!” Thornbury screamed at the warriors.

“No you won’t”, Michael declared as he stared back at the Alpha.

The moment Michael raised his rifle at Thornbury, the Lycan warriors took that as their signal and immediately charged at the Alpha.

One of the warriors swiped at Thornbury’s face which he dodged, but the second one lowered himself during the attack and slashed his claws at Thornbury’s stomach. Although he had ripped the skin, he hadn’t done enough damage just yet. And when he was distracted by the second warrior, Michael stepped forward and shot at Thornbury’s head. But Thornbury had turned when he noticed Michael’s movement, and let out a growl enraged that he had almost shot him. But the Lycans didn’t give Thornbury the time to be distracted, they continued their barrage of attacks one after the other.

The Lycan warriors were perfectly in sync as they fought Thornbury. They would alternate between attacking and defending hoping to create an opening for Michael who had remained in his human form. Michael would use all opportunities created by the Lycan warriors to shoot at any weak points while moving about to avoid Thornbury's attacks.

Unfortunately, Thornbury would defend in the last moment by stepping out of the way of the shot, raising an arm, or shifting his body so that the bullet hit an area that wouldn’t cause too much damage.

Outside the office, Amelia was still sitting on the floor against the wall as she watched the fight taking place without her.

“Get this out of me, Hannah”, Amelia said with a strained voice.

“Brace yourself!” Hannah exclaimed before she held onto the piece of wood.

Holding onto her arm, Amelia stiffened her shoulder to make sure that she didn’t move. She then took a deep breath before looking at Hannah and giving her a nod.

Pulling with all her might, Hannah managed to pull the piece of wood that she could now see was the leg of a wood chair out of her shoulder. Amelia let out a scream when the offending object was now out of her shoulder, giving her instant relief. Hannah looked at the object and scowled before she tossed it far away from where Amelia was seated.

Throwing her head back and closing her eyes, Amelia took in deep breaths as she willed her body to heal itself a little faster so that she could rejoin the fight. Opening her eyes, she looked at her injury and noticed that it finally stopped bleeding so she decided that this was all the healing she could manage at the time.

“Thank you for bringing them to me, Hannah”, Amelia said as she placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Of course, Luna”, Hannah said excitedly. “I’m only trying to help.”

Amelia could only give her a sad smile in response to her statement. She knew that Hannah was not obligated to help her in any way, and yet here she was helping her fight against her father. Amelia felt immensely grateful for the people around her who had helped her feel less alone at a time when they should have been more concerned for their own self-preservation.

People like Michael and the two Lycan warriors who were now battling Thornbury to the death. She looked at the men fighting and realized that she needed to help them to take Thornbury down. They were holding their own against the Alpha, but right now they needed someone to help tilt the scales of the battle in their favor.

“You should stand back, Hannah”, Amelia said as she looked at her friend.

Not wanting to leave Amelia alone, Hannah helped her to stand before she stepped to the side as Amelia had instructed her. Amelia then painfully shifted into her Lycan form even though her injuries made her scream in agony as she did so.

When she had shifted, she slowly walked back into the office, determined to end this fight once and for all. And without looking back at her, Michael reached behind his waist to grab a silver-coated blade from its sheath and held it out for Amelia. She took the knife from Michael as she came to stand next to him while they both watched the Lycans fighting.

“Go get him”, Michael said as he stepped forward to continue shooting at Thornbury.

One of the Lycan warriors managed to punch Thornbury, which distracted him for a moment. And when he turned to return the attack, Amelia saw this as the opportunity she needed and charged at Thornbury. She kept herself low as she slashed one of his Achilles tendons with her blade. This disabled one of his legs, making him scream in pain and fall to one knee.

The other Lycan warrior slashed at his face with his claws which drew Thornbury’s attention to him this time. Rushing in from his blind spot, Amelia lunged at his other leg and slashed his calf muscle in half. This effectively crippled Thornbury as he screamed and thrashed around wildly at the Lycans attacking him.

Amelia had successfully taken out his mobility in the fight, rendering him vulnerable and unable to escape their next move. And now that he was unable to move the two Lycan warriors rushed for Thornbury and grabbed him by the arms before pulling him down to the ground.

Once they had him pinned to the ground, Amelia jumped on his chest and raised the blade ready to deal the final blow to Thornbury. Seeing her attack coming, he buckled his chest making Amelia lose balance and stumble as she dropped the blade.

Amelia knew that if she got off of him right now, the other Lycans might not be able to hold him down anymore and they might lose their leverage on him. So she decided that she was going to end his life one way or another even without a blade.

She grabbed his mouth and held it shut as she twisted his face to the side and exposed his neck. She then opened her mouth as wide as possible and bit into his neck hard and twisted forcibly until she heard his neck break under the pressure.

His body immediately went limp as she had successfully killed the man who brought her pain and suffering all her life. She stood and looked down into his lifeless eyes as emotions she couldn’t hold back began to bubble to the surface.

Unable to hold back, she roared as loud as she could as she allowed the rage to flow through her at what she had to do because her father had given her no choice.

When she was done, she slowly shifted back into her human form as tears began to sting her eyes. But she pinched her eyes closed and told herself that the man did not deserve her sympathy, not after everything he had done to her and those she loved. She took a deep breath to steady her emotions as she held onto her injured shoulder.

When she opened her eyes, she was faced with the two Lycan warriors who had shifted back into their human forms. As they looked back at her, they raised their fists and hit their chests as they gave her a small bow. She didn’t know where they had come from, but she knew that she could not have ended this fight without their help.

“Thank you”, Amelia said as she smiled at them before she returned their bow with her own.

When she turned around, she saw Michael standing behind her looking at her with a proud look on his face.

“Hey Mike”, Amelia said with a sad but appreciative smile.

“Hey Lia”, Michael replied with his own smile.

“I’m glad you could make it”, Amelia said.

“Of course!” Michael said. “I had to come get my little sister.”
