Chapter 237 – His LETTER

Chapter 237 – His LETTER

Liora

The morning air smelled like rain and burning sage. The kind of scent that carried peace and pain together... soft, heavy, and hard to let go of. I followed Aurelie through the narrow path that led to the reconstructed hallway.

Even the Birds sang sweetly, their voices were soothing it felt like whispers of hope.

Aurelie didn’t talk much. She just glanced at me every now and then to make sure i was following her. The silence between us was not coldas it used to for thr past days. Each was just buried in his thoughts.

When we reached a door, his room. I gulped she give me a small smile. A reassuring one. “There’s something you need to see,” she said, slowly and we entered.

Lucian wasn't there. I feel kind of disappointed. But that's reality. And I have to face it.

“I found it… in his room.”

I nodded, unable to trust my voice.

Aurelie pointed at a small box on the table, old and there were scratches at the edges.

I held it with my shaky hands. The lid creaked when I opened it, and inside… there were pieces of him.

A silver chain with a moonstone pendant, still faintly cold to the touch. Same like the one on my chest.

A leather wristband, torn at one side ... the very one I’d teased him about never removing.
And underneath them all, was a letter sealed with silver wax.

The moment I saw his handwriting, I gasped, my eyes tearing up.

I knew that writing. The sharp edges, the slight curve at the end of each “r.” It was him.

Aurelie whispered softly, “He must have written it before… before that day.”

That day... the day he offered himself as sacrifice.

I gulped hard, wetting my throat. “Did you read it?” I asked scared to open.

She shook her head. “No. It’s yours.”

I sat on the table, the box on my lap, tracing the words with my finger.

The room quiet, too silence for my liking, as a i couldhear wasmy beating heart.

Snowfall whimpered inside me. “Read it,” she urged. “You need to.”

So I did.

I broke the seal and his scent hit my nose, mixed with blood and ash, and that strange sweetness of rain before a storm. My chest ached.

His words were written in dark ink, each one sinking deep into me.

THE LETTER

My twin-moon mate, Liora.

If you are reading this, it means the goddess has taken me back before I could say what I should have.

You once told me that love is not about how long it lasts, but what we give while we have it. I gave you my loyalty, my soul… but I also left you with lot's of my mistakes.

I never meant to hurt you. I never meant to become the reason you doubt yourself, or your light.

You are the part of me the darkness couldn’t touch.

If grief ever finds you and I know it will since you'rereading my letter... don’t let it chain you to the past. Let it build you instead.

Grieve me in good ways, my love. Plant flowers where I fell. Sing when it hurts to speak.

And when the moon rises, promise me this ... you’ll look up, and live.

For me.

For us.

Always yours,
Lucian

I didn’t realize I was crying until the tears fell on the paper blurring the words.

“He loved you more than himself,” Aurelie whispered. “You know that now.”

I nodded, wiping my tears with the back of my hand. “He did,” I mumbled. “And he was right. I can’t keep chasing what’s already gone.”

Snowfall’s voice echoed faintly in my mind, low and calm this time. Finally… you’re letting him rest.

I pressed the letter on my chest, as more tears slide down “Rest well, Lucian,” I whispered. “I’ll keep your promise. I’ll live.”

For us.

Later that day, the council gathered in the grand hall, for the coronation as Aurelie said. They insisted on doing it early as possible to unite and grow the pack again.

Eira, smiled at us from her seat as Aurelie walked and took her place beside me.

The moon was seen even though the sun was still up...a sign, they said, that the Goddess blessed day.

The pack members sat in rows. The scent of lavender smoke filled the air. As faint traditional drums sound was played... dum, dum, dum. Same as my heartbeat as it finds peace.

Aurelie knelt first. Father placed a white circlet upon her head, whispering ancient words. “From this day forth, Aurelie of Silvermoon, you shall serve as the Pack’s Seer, the one who listens where others cannot, and sees what lies hidden in the stars.”

The pack members bowed. Aurelie looked radiant, tears glimmering in her eyes. I felt proud and grateful.

Then he called my name.

“Liora of Silvermoon,” father uttered his eyes glistening with tears. “You have faced darkness but chosen light. You are the bridge between moon and flame, between past and future. Today, you rise as the legendary Silver Wolf.”

I stepped forward, the wind shifted... cool and sweet, brushing against my face like a whisper. The silver circlet felt light in the father’s hands, yet when it touched my hair, warmth spread through me like the moon’s glow itself.

The crowd bowed and cheered softly, voices blending with the rustle of leaves. My heart swelled and ached at the same time. I felt his presence then... faint, like a whisper behind the stars.

I’m proud of you, Father whispered kissing my forehead.

I smiled through tears.

The ceremony ended soon, Aurelie and I lay under the moon in the moon garden. She held my hand, squeezing it. “Smile, he is watching and I know he is proud of you,” she said.

"He is,” I nodded, wiping my tears.

We lay there, talking about the deaths, mother, kai. Derek, Lucian. And others ... two sisters bound by grief, love, and the promise of healing.

The night was beautiful. I tasted my tears, It was soft, like the taste of goodbye finally accepted.

Snowfall purred inside me. You did it. You chose peace.

“I did,” I murmured. “And I’ll protect this peace.”

...

The following weeks passed gently, though change stirred beneath the calm. The pack rebuilt what had been lost, homes, bonds, faith. I worked with Aurelie, Keal, Lily and the council elders to make sure the pack thrives again.

We created new laws, every spellcaster would be tested, every ritual recorded, every charm purified before use. The mistakes of the past would never be repeated.

Black magic and poison were taken seriously.

Sometimes, I stare at the setting sun, wanting to see him. Again ... But he never came. And that was okay.

Because now, I understood.
Love doesn’t always stay ... sometimes, it becomes the strength you carry.

It was evening, we were done with the pack meeting.

The air was calm again.

Then, we heard footsteps eching and entered the hall.

“Amazing,” a familiar voice said.

It was Acheron.

“You all did well,” he said. “Silvermoon is healing.”

I nodded, smiling faintly. “Thanks to you too helping us.”

He nodded, walking to the center staring at keal. “There’s something I need to tell you,” he said. “Something urgent.”

"What is it?” I whispered, curious.

His jaw tightened. “It’s something that would benefit both packs,” he said quietly. “Something I should have done long ago.”
