Chapter 51

Chapter 51

When Amelia heard William's bone-chillingly cold tone, her legs went weak on the spot. Tears streamed down her face like a broken string of beads, and she reached out trying to grab William's sleeve.

"William... I really didn't mean to. How could I possibly harm Grandma?"

She cried with her shoulders shaking, her voice hoarse beyond recognition, her nose bright red, her face covered in tear stains. "I just saw that Grandma's spirits hadn't been good lately, so I bought her some health supplements. I never expected... I meant well but ended up harming..."

As she spoke, she squatted right down on the floor, covering her face with both hands, crying even harder. "I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong. You can scold me however you want, punish me however you want. I'll never dare randomly give Grandma things again..."

William looked down at her like this, his expression extremely unpleasant. Just thinking about how Grandma had almost been harmed by her made him unable to control the anger in his heart.

But seeing Amelia crying her heart out, he couldn't bring himself to say anything harsh. He could only say coldly, "Enough. Go back. Tomorrow I'll arrange for someone to take you back to the Brown Manor."

Amelia's head shot up. Her eyes were swollen like walnuts, tears still hanging on her face, her gaze full of disbelief.

Back to the Brown Manor? That meant she wouldn't be able to see William anymore? She wasn't willing to accept this. Why? Evelyn had just casually saved Grandma once, and she got treated like a treasure by the old lady and got special attention from William.

But she had stayed with the Brown family for so many years, being so careful, giving her whole heart, and just because she meant well but did harm, she was being sent away like this?

Why could Evelyn easily get everything while she was being discarded like trash?

"William, I don't want to go to the Brown Manor..." She struggled to get up, stumbling as she tried to grab William's arm, her voice full of pleading.

"I'll just stay outside. I won't go in, and I won't disturb Grandma. I can help buy food and bring water. I'll be completely quiet and won't cause any trouble. Please don't send me away, okay?"

"This isn't up for discussion." William turned aside to avoid her touch, his tone showing no sign of softening.

Amelia's hand froze in mid-air. Looking at William's cold profile, the grievance and unwillingness in her heart instantly surged up.

She knew that William was truly angry this time. If she kept pestering him, it would only make him hate her more.

She bit her lip, her nails digging deep into her palm until they left marks, barely suppressing the resentment in her heart. Her voice choked as she said, "I understand... I'll go to the Brown Manor. When Grandma wakes up, you must tell me."

William didn't turn around, just gave a faint acknowledgment before returning to the hospital room.

In the corridor, Evelyn and Terrence had already finalized Gwendolyn's follow-up treatment plan. Willow had been standing nearby, occasionally adding a word or two, her face full of gratitude.

"Evelyn, thank you so much this time. If it weren't for you, Gwendolyn would probably..." Willow said, her eyes reddening again. She reached out to hold Evelyn's hand, her tone full of genuine gratitude. "From now on, if you need anything, just say the word. The Brown family will do everything we can to help."

Evelyn gently withdrew her hand, her tone casual. "You don't need to be so polite. Since I promised William, I'll do my best to save Gwendolyn. Besides, Gwendolyn is a good person. I don't want to see anything happen to her either."

As she spoke, she reached into her bag and pulled out a small white medicine bottle. The bottle was plain with no label. She handed it to Willow.

"Take this. Give Gwendolyn one pill every day for a month straight. It'll help regulate her organs and replenish her blood and energy. It'll be good for her recovery."

Willow quickly took it, carefully tucking it away like a treasure, nodding repeatedly. "Okay, I'll remember. I'll make sure Gwendolyn takes it on time."

Standing nearby, Terrence's nose twitched as he caught a whiff of the faint medicinal fragrance coming from the bottle. The scent was clear and rich.

His eyes immediately lit up. He quickly stepped forward, his tone carrying some urgency. "Mrs. Brown, could you let me take a look at this medicine?"

Willow paused, then nodded and handed over the bottle.

Terrence took the medicine bottle and opened the cap. An even stronger medicinal fragrance wafted out. He brought it to his nose and sniffed repeatedly, his eyes growing wider and wider. His face showed an excited expression, and even his hands began to tremble slightly.

"This medicine... the formula for this medicine is extraordinary!" Terrence's tone was full of amazement. "The ingredients are all top-grade herbs, and the proportions are precise to the extreme. This is definitely rare, good medicine, stronger than any tonic I've ever seen! Evelyn, did you make this medicine?"

Evelyn's heart stirred, but her face remained calm. She shook her head lightly. "I didn't make it. A friend of mine gave it to me. He knows a bit about medicine and made some of this. I thought it worked well, so I kept a few bottles with me. It just happens to be good for Gwendolyn."

A trace of regret appeared on Terrence's face, but it was quickly replaced by excitement. He carefully closed the medicine bottle and handed it back to Willow, his tone carrying some pleading.

"Evelyn, could you possibly let me contact this friend of yours? I'd like to ask him about this medicine's formula, or let me take a few pills back to study. I promise I absolutely won't leak the formula."

Evelyn smiled, her tone flat as she refused. "Sorry, Terrence, my friend has a rather solitary personality and doesn't like dealing with people. Plus, he didn't tell me the formula either, so I can't help you."

Hearing this, Terrence's face was full of disappointment, but he couldn't insist further. He could only sigh. "Alright, that's really too bad."

At this moment, a nurse came out of the hospital room and said respectfully to everyone, "Mr. Brown, the patient is sleeping very peacefully now. All her vital signs are stable. You can rest assured."

Willow breathed a sigh of relief and quickly nodded. "Good, thank you for your hard work."

Terrence also nodded. "Make sure to pay extra attention to the follow-up care. If there's any situation, notify me immediately."

"Yes, Dr. Wheeler." The nurse finished speaking and turned back to the hospital room.

Willow looked toward the hospital room, her face showing a tired expression. After all this commotion, she was exhausted too. She turned to look at Evelyn, her tone gentle. "Evelyn, thank you so much for your hard work today. It's gotten so late. You should go back and rest. I'll stay here and watch over things."

Evelyn nodded. She was indeed a bit tired. Rescuing Gwendolyn earlier had taken quite a bit of energy. "Alright, I'll head back then. If there's any situation here, remember to call me."

"Okay." Willow nodded quickly, then turned to look at William. "William, see Evelyn off. It's so late, and she's a young woman going back alone. I'm worried."
