Chapter 97 Injured.
Creed’s pov.
“Lily?” I ask as I open my eyes slowly, feeling tingles along my face.
“Shh, my mate,” a deeper version of Lily’s voice says, “save your energy.”
I look towards her face and my eyes widen slightly when I see her purple flames surrounding her body and her eyes glowing purple.
“Sapphire?” I say unsure, wondering how she got control over Lily’s body.
“Yes, it’s me,” she purrs, rubbing her face against mine, “I saved you.”
“Wait!” I shout, sitting up quickly, “where’s our fledglings?! Our children!?”
She huffs while blowing a strand of her hair out of her face, “they’re fine! With Raya, Alex, Lily’s grandmother and Eric. Safe.”
I breathe out a sigh of relief, running my hands through my hair.
“Erlik?” I ask while looking around, seeing midnight standing over his dead body.
“He’s dead,” I hear Midnight say quietly, “I’ll be taking his body to the underworld with me.”
“Okay…” I say, looking back at Lily, or I guess Sapphire, “can you give Lily control?”
Sapphire scoffs, looking at me angrily, “I finally have control and you want me to go back in the dark?” She asks quietly, “I like having control, I don’t want to go back yet. I want to spend time with my mate and fledglings.”
“Sapphire,” I mutter softly, running my hand down the side of her face, “I want to spend time with you too… but we both know that Lily needs me just as much as I need her right now. Can you please, just give her back control for now?”
Sapphire sighs but nods her head, closing her eyes.
Her purple flames go out and when she opens her eyes again it’s Lily’s beautiful blues.
“Hey, sweetheart,” I say with a smile, taking her hands in mine, “shall we go to our children?”
“Creed!” She cries out, throwing herself into me.
“Woah!” I laugh, catching her in my arms, “easy! I’m pretty sore!”
“I’m sorry!” She says as she unlatches herself from me, “I’m just so glad you’re okay. Fucking Sapphire took control! It was weird, I could see everything from the back of my mind… but I couldn’t do anything! She wouldn’t give me control back!”
A frown takes over her face as she talks, genuinely upset with her dragon.
“It’s okay, everything’s okay now. Let’s not worry about it for now. We need to clear the area and get back home, to our babies,” I say softly, smiling as I lean in and kiss her.
“They’re so perfect, Creed,” she whispers as she pulls away from me, looking at me with tear filled eyes.
“I don’t doubt it, sweetheart. Any babies we make together will be nothing but perfect, now let’s hurry, I can’t wait to finally see them… I still can’t believe I missed their birth,” I mutter the last part, feeling like a terrible mate and father.
“Shh,” she says softly, wiping a tear that fell from my eye, “I know what you’re thinking, and you're wrong. There was nothing we could’ve done differently. That doesn’t make you a bad father…”
“That doesn’t help the feeling go away,” I sigh, looking away from her, “I- I should’ve been there.”
“We can’t change anything now, Creed. But we can get this dealt with and go home, so you can meet them. I know I can’t wait till they're back in my arms…” she says with a small smile on her face, making me unable to keep the small smile off of my own face.
“Alright,” I say, looking around at all of the destruction.
“Ryan!” I hell as I see my best friend laying unconscious on the ground.
I get off of the ground quickly, my body protesting.
I kneel onto the ground beside him and roll his body towards me.
“Oh my goddess!” Lily shirked as we saw Ryan’s arm cut clean off.
“He’s bleeding out…” I mutter, holding my hands against his arm, “his dragon can’t heal him fast enough! We need to do something!”
“Move, Creed!” Lily says as she gently pushes me out of the way, my hands slipping from Ryan’s arm causing his blood to continue gushing out.
Lily quickly places her hands onto Ryan’s arm, closing her eyes and whispering words I can’t quite understand.
Purple glow starts to seep from Ryan’s wound, up and around Lily's hand.
The wound seems to stitch itself back together, Lily's magic speeding up his healing process.
“He should be okay…” she gasps, falling to the ground with a pale look on her face.
“Lily? What’s happening to you?” I ask worriedly, pulling her closer to me.
“I’m- im too weak… I’ve used too much magic… I need time- to heal,” she stutters out, her lips turning blue before her eyes roll into the back of her head.
“Shit!” I hell as I place her head on my chest, picking her up bridal style.
I look and see warriors cleaning up the dead bodies, and Jason standing with Midnight where Erlik’s body still lays.
“Jason!” I yell as loudly as I can, quickly getting his attention, “I need you to get Ryan to the healers! I need to get Lily there immediately!”
He looks from Ryan to Lily with a worried look on his face.
“What happened to them!” He asks while running up to us, gasping as he sees Ryan’s missing arm.
“He must’ve been injured while we were all fighting- I’m not sure when. Lily’s used too much magic, she’s deteriorating!” I mutter while I start running towards the tribe healers.
“I’ll get him there as fast as I can, Creed!” I hear Jason yell from behind me.
I look down at Lily's pale face, my heartbeat racing inside of my chest.
“Hold on, sweetheart,” I whisper, “I’m going to get you help, just hold on!”
