Chapter 56 Ancient Magic.
Creed’s pov.
Something about nurse Amy is rubbing me the wrong way… the whole thing was just- weird.
“Creed?” Lily says softly, breaking me out of my thoughts.
“Are you ready to go?” She asks.
“Yeah, let’s go home,” I say tiredly, wanting so badly to fall asleep with Lily in my arms.
Lily slips her hand in mind as we make our way home, leaving the tribe's hospital we receive smiles and small congratulations from our members.
“Congratulations!” A small fledgling says, running up to Lily with wild flowers in her hand, “mama said you are having the tribe's heir!”
Lily chuckles and places her one hand on the girl's shoulder, “yes, I am! But, there’s three other babies too,” Lily whispers to the fledgling, causing her eyes to go wide.
“Four!” The fledgling yells, running towards her mother, “mama! She’s pregnant with four! Four babies!”
“Wow, your majesty. I wish you a healthy and easy pregnancy, may the goddess bless you,” the young girl's mother says to Lily with a smile.
Lily smiles softly at the woman and we continue our way home, “everyone’s going to kill me,” I groan, thinking about Lily's grandmother, Raya and Alex.
Lily chuckles softly and smiles at me, “don’t worry, this was important. They’ll understand.”
I smile back at her but know I’ll get an earful when we get to the tribe's house.
As we walk inside the doors Alex immediately squeals and runs at us, “Lily!” She screams in pure joy, running towards her but gasping when she sees her huge belly, “you-you’re pregnant!”
Lily laughs loudly and grabs Alex up in a hug, “I missed you too.”
“No, but seriously! You’re pregnant!” Alex yells excitedly.
I grab Alex by the shoulder and push her away from Lily gently, “yes, she’s pregnant. And needs her space, nothing extra or hard to do. Healthy foods, and no junk,” I start to say, listing things we need to start doing.
“Okay, okay. Slow down Creed,” Lily chuckles playfully pushing me.
“Lily,” Raya whispers with tears in her eyes, “you’re really okay, I thought- I thought we’d never find you.”
“Shh,” Lily hushes her, pulling her into a hug.
“Quadruplets,” Glenda whispers in astonishment.
Lily perks up at the voice and peers over at her, “hello, my name is Lily, who are you?” She asks, looking at her strangely.
Glenda’s eyes soften and she takes slow steps towards Lily, “I’m your grandmother…” she says softly.
Lily's eyes widen impossibly large and she gasps slightly, “my grandmother? But how? My mother said her family died… I don’t understand,” she mutters to herself.
“But wait, how do you know it’s quadruplets?” I ask skeptically.
Glenda laughs and smiles at me, “clever one. I can see their auras, and sense their presence. Four strong babies, who seem to be almost done!”
“Actually, we should expect them within a month…” Lily says quietly, acting shy towards her grandmother.
“It’s okay to feel sceptical, Lily,” Glenda says with a loving smile, “come here, hold my hand and I’ll prove we are family.”
Lily looks towards me, a curious look on her face, “go on,” I urge her, “go find out.”
Lily slowly makes her way towards Glenda, extending her hand in Glenda’s direction. As soon as Glenda’s hand makes contact with Lily's both their eyes turn white and their heads snap up towards the roof.
“What the hell!” I yell out in fright, she never said this would happen!
“Calm down!” Alex says to me, shaking my shoulders, “this is normal. Glenda actually spoke to us about a lot of things while you ran off. She has old, ancient magic, it’s very sensitive and since they are both very powerful beings the energy connecting them is fragile. She said everything would be okay.”
Something about her tone calms me down and I sit as I watch Lily's body react to their magic.
It feels like forever before Lily gasps and her beautiful blue eyes come back, “holy goddess!” She yells, eyes wild, “it’s true- you’re my grandmother.”
Glenda places a tender hand on Lily's shoulder, “yes, I am. And I’m here now, I’m not going anywhere,” she says softly.
“I still can’t believe you’re pregnant!”Alex says in disbelief, looking at Lily again.
She just chuckles and walks over towards us and takes a seat beside me, taking Alex’s hand she places it gently onto her belly, “feel that?” She asks as Alex gasps, “that’s them kicking me.”
“Really?” Alex says in astonishment, not taking her eyes away from Lily's belly.
“Yes,” Lily giggles, taking my hand and placing it onto her belly.
At first I don’t feel anything but I flex my fingers slightly and feel a tiny movement, “wow…” I mutter, “they’re really moving… I can’t believe this. I’m a father.”
“And I’m an aunty…” Alex whispers in awe.
“Do you guys want to feel?” Lily asks, looking towards Raya and Glenda.
“Yes! Of course!” Raya says excitedly, telling me to move away.
I get up and stand away, giving them space. Glenda smiles and talks softly to Lily about her babies, how exciting it is to have a new life, let alone four. Raya whispers in awe about them and asked if we had any names picked out.
“Well…I really like the name, Maddox- if it’s a boy. And… Athena after my mother,” Lily says shyly, ears turning pink.
I smile at her, “I love those, what about Juniper, and maybe Mazikeen? And if we have more than one boy I like the name Enzo,” I say, giving her my opinion.
“Yes… I love them,” she says softly, walking over to me and giving me a tender kiss on the lips. I grab her and pull her impossibly close, deepening the kiss with primal hunger, something I’ve never felt before.
The urge to put her over my shoulder and haul her to our bed is strong, but I tell myself I can’t, she’s too precious, too fragile.
When I pull away from her we’re both breathless and hot. Lily's lips are slightly swollen and her cheeks are bright red. I hear someone whistle in the background but I’m too focused on Lily to notice who did it, all I want is her.
