Chapter 100 Before I Die.
Chapter 100 Before I Die.
Raya’s pov.
“Do you think you could get Alex and Glenda back in here?” I ask Creed quietly after hours of teaching him how to care for the fledglings.
“Yes, I’ll tell Alex to come back, I know you must want to go see Ryan,” he answers me, turning his head to look in my direction.
“I do, I really need to see him,” I whisper, watching Aspin and Wren sleep soundly.
“I’ll help look after the boys, go, go now,” he says, getting up from where he’s sitting.
He places a hand onto my shoulder, giving me a look of understanding.
I nod my head once before placing a kiss onto each of my sons heads.
“I love you,” I whisper, “I’ll be back soon.”
I look back one more time before walking out of the door.
I enter the healers, walking towards the front desk.
“I’m here to see my mate, the beta,” I say, looking around nervously.
“Ryan?” She asks, looking me up and down.
“Yes, Ryan. I need to see him now,” I answered impatiently, glaring slightly at the woman.
“Okay, I’ll take you to his room,” she mutters while grabbing a clipboard.
We walk down a few hallways before entering a private room, secluded from the rest of the place.
“Ryan,” I say with a shaky voice as I see him laying on a bed.
He turns his head towards me slowly, a small smile creeping onto his face.
“My love,” he says, “how are you doing?”
“How am I doing?” I ask while chuckling slightly, “I should be asking you that.”
He smirks slightly, turning his head to look at his missing arm.
“As long as you’re okay and our fledglings, I’m good,” he sighs, turning his head back towards me.
“Oh, Ryan,” I whisper, tears falling from my eyes, “I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“I’m glad you’re okay too… where’s our babies? How are they?” He says, looking at me with hope filled eyes, “can I see them?”
“They’re good, safe. They’re with Creed and Alex. I was thinking since you’re awake we could have you brought to our room to recover… there’s no need to keep you held up in here,” I say, running my hand along his arm.
“Okay, yeah. I’d love to be in our space. Can we go now? So I can see our babies? I need to see them,” he says softly, grabbing my hand in his.
“I’ll talk to someone about it,” I reply, letting his hand go as I walk toward the door.
I look back as I open the door, seeing Ryan give me a reassuring smile.
I take a deep breath and close the door softly behind me before walking towards the closest healer I can find.
“Excuse me!” I call out to an older man, “I just wanted to let you know that I’m taking Ryan home to heal, he wants to meet our fledglings."
He turns his head towards me, squinting his eyes slightly.
“Okay, sure thing. Sign some papers at the front desk before you leave and you’re all good to go,” he says with a small smile, nodding his head once before continuing whatever it was he was doing.
I walk back to Ryan’s room, smiling as I go in.
“We can go whenever you’re ready! We just have to sign some papers first before we go!” I say happily, wanting nothing more than for him to meet our sons.
“Okay,” he says shakily, “we better hurry, I’m honestly not feeling that well.”
He tries to get out of bed and that’s when I notice the sweat pouring down his forehead.
“Ryan!” I call out, rushing towards him, “you’re burning up!”
I look around frantically, grabbing a cloth and getting it wet with cold water.
I place it onto his head as I make him lay back down.
“Can you mindlink Creed? Get him to come or get Glenda to come here. Something isn’t right, Olivia and I can feel it,” I say, Olivia whining in my head.
“Yes,” he says weakly, “I’ll do it now.”
His eyes glaze over slightly as he mindlinks Creed.
I take that moment to look around again, seeing an empty glass and grabbing it.
“Would you like some water while we wait?” I ask him, trying to help anyway I can.
He smiles and nods his head, “please.”
I smile back as I pour some water into his glass, handing it to him, making sure I’m careful.
“He’s sending Glenda, something about making sure he’s the one taking care of all the fledglings,” he says while chuckling.
His chuckling quickly turns into a fit of coughs.
I help him sit up, rubbing my hand up and down his back.
“Raya,” I hear Glenda say from behind us, startling me.
“Goddess, Glenda. How did you get here so fast?” I ask while placing a hand over my heart.
“Magic,” she laughs.
Her eyes darted towards Ryan suddenly, a sad look taking over her face.
“Oh no,” she whispers quietly, walking towards Ryan with a look I don’t quite understand.
Ryan smiles up at her, ready for anything, “just give it to me straight, Glenda,” he sighs, the hope is his eyes from earlier diminishing.
“They were so willing to let you leave? In this condition?” She asks with an eyebrow raised.
I nod my head at her while Ryan does the same.
“No one even came to check on him,” I say, remembering how the old man looked at me funny for basically telling me to get the hell out of there.
Glenda places her hands over Ryan, closing her eyes as she lets her magic work.
“Just as I suspected…” she mumbles, “whatever was used to cut off your arm was poisoned. And not with just any poison. It’s Armanium poison. Alpha dragon blood was used to make this poison. It’s strong enough to kill even a beta. We must get you to the tribe house and do something about this…”
“Before I die…” Ryan whispers.
