Chapter 45 - Cassidy's Power
Cruz's P.O.V.

I can't take my eyes off Cassidy. I never thought I would have a mate, and definitely not one like her. She's a real goddess. When I find the alpha who made her believe she was his and raped her, he will be ripped into pieces and spread around the forest. I tighten my arm around her and she lays her head on my shoulder. I haven't asked her if she's going to accept me as her mate because I'm scared. I'm probably not what she pictured as a mate.

Kakia had me in the dungeon for years, trying to torture me into being one of her henchmen. She underestimated me because all she ended up doing was giving me time to think of all the ways I was going to get revenge on her.

"How did you get away from Kakia?" Cassidy asks. Her hand is on my thigh, making me feel warm all over.

"She tried to kill me when she realized I wasn't going to do what she wanted. I outsmarted her by making her think I was dead. I can't wait until she sees that I'm alive and well." I'm usually so full of anger I can't think of anything else. That's why I went to Satan. I wanted his help to get my revenge on Kakia. He told me that if I helped him with something, he would help me get my revenge on Kakia. It looks like I'll be doing both.

"After this battle with Kakia, will you return to the underworld?" Cassidy's voice cracks. I'm not used to being around women or anyone, but I can hear the hurt in her voice. I put my hand over hers on my thigh.

"That depends on you. Do you want someone like me for your mate?" She moves away slightly and turns to look at me. My throat feels tight while I wait for her to tell me that I disgust her.

"I want you, but I didn't want to say anything because I was worried you didn't want me." Cassidy looks into my eyes, and for the first time that I can remember, I want to smile. We were both scared of rejection. I move my hand from the back of the swing and lightly touch her cheek.

"You're beautiful. How could I not want someone like you? I'm rough and angry most of the time. You're soft and sweet. I want you as my mate. I know you were hurt, so we can go slow. To be honest, I'm a little nervous. Most of my life was spent in the dungeon being tortured, so I don't have any experience being around others. While I was with Satan, I kept to myself. I don't want to mess up with you, Cassidy, so please tell me if I do anything that you don't like." She puts her arms around my neck, kisses my cheek, and hugs me. I wrap my arms around her and hold her tight while I close my eyes, trying to keep in my tears. I'm not wearing a shirt, so the sparks are intense where her skin touches mine.

"I may not be ready for everything, but I would like to mark each other as soon as possible if you're okay with that. Kierra said that once I'm marked, it should release my power." I hug her tighter. I have a mate, and she wants to mark me.

"We can mark each other right now if you want to. Whatever you want, I will give you." I pull away to look into her eyes, and she smiles.

"I want you." To hear those three words makes my hardened heart melt. No one has ever wanted me, but she does.

"You can mark me first. Do you want to do it here?" Cassidy puts her hand on my cheek and gently rubs her thumb back and forth.

"Yes, let's do it here and now." I lean forward and close my eyes. When she bites into my neck, a tear slips out. My mate is marking me. My heart races as her canines get deeper. She is mine, and I will do everything in my power to protect her. When Cassidy pulls back, she licks her lips. I want to kiss her, but I've never kissed anyone, and I don't know if she's ready for that. Instead, I kiss her forehead.

She tilts her head, and I kiss her neck before I bite into her soft flesh. She moans, and more tears run down my cheeks. I needed Cassidy but didn't know it. She's making me feel alive. When I pull back, it feels like we're one person. I can feel her all through my body.

"Can I kiss you?" She asks softly, biting her lip. I can't speak, so I nod. I'm never speechless, but I'm so overwhelmed with my sweet mate that I forget what words to say.

Cassidy places her mouth on mine, and neither of us moves at first. We begin to move slowly, and I feel like I'm melting. Her lips are so soft I never want to stop.

"I've never kissed anyone. Bryce didn't kiss me. He hit me or forced me to do other things. Have you kissed anyone?" She puts her hands in my hair and her forehead against mine.

"No. I've never been with a woman." Cassidy kisses me again, a little harder this time.

"Good. I want all of your firsts." She suddenly stops talking, and her eyes widen.

"What's wrong?" I look around worriedly. Did she see someone who shouldn't be here?

"Nothing. I know what my powers are. It's weird. I feel like I've always known." She stands and walks away from the pack house into the yard. I follow her to see what she's doing. Cassidy holds her hands up, and the sky above us turns black. People come running over to see what's happening. I can't take my eyes off my mate as the black cloud gets bigger. Lightning suddenly comes from the cloud, and then heavy rain. A tornado appears but doesn't do any damage as Cassidy puts her hands down. She turns to us with a smile, and I notice that her eyes are no longer the same blue. They're like a grayish blue, and they seem unnaturally bright.

"I have power from both of my parents. From the moon and the sea. With their power together, I can control the elements. I can control the air, water, earth, and fire. We will beat Kakia, but with this power, I now know something else. She's not our biggest threat." I walk over and put my arm around her shoulders.

"Who is?" Sienna asks.

"The demons three, Abnegazar, Rath, and Ghast."
