Chapter 258 Revelation
Dakota's P.O.V.
"Are you settling in okay?" I ask Sam between bites. She smiles and nods as she looks around.
"Everyone has been so kind to us. I really can't thank you enough for letting us stay here." I take a bite of the pancakes and close my eyes. They're delicious.
"Addy told us how cool you were last night beating up those bad guys," Enzo says. I feel like I've neglected him these last few days because of everything else that's happened.
"We had to take down a few. I told her I would teach you both some moves. Do you want to do that this afternoon?" Enzo smiles and sits back in his seat.
"I already know some moves, but maybe I can get better." I try not to laugh as he glances at Addy. Oh, no, I think Ari and Galdino are already rubbing off on him, and he has a crush on his new friend.
"They can't be as good as Dakota's. She's like a superhero." I hold my hand up, and Addy gives me a high five. That's my girl. Poor Enzo looks a little hurt, but he shrugs it off by taking a bite of his food.
After I'm done eating, I go to Aubrey's room. I want to see if she knows why her dad would hire someone to kidnap her and kill Grandpa Sandy.
"Come in." I hear Aubrey say when I knock on the door. When I walk in, she's sitting on the couch with her feet on Gabe's lap. She smiles as his face turns bright red.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask Aubrey.
"Sure. Can Gabe stay?" she asks.
"That's up to you. I need to ask you about your father." She doesn't look surprised.
"Then he can stay. I told him about the things my dad did to me." Gabe reaches for her hand as I sit across from them in one of the chairs. I don't know if this is more than a friendship, but they sure look cute together.
"The man who broke into the house yesterday was Russell Titan. Your dad hired him to kidnap you. He said your dad told him we were keeping you here against your will after beating you. Do you know why he would do that?" Aubrey looks shocked and then angry.
"The only reason he could know that I was beaten and brought here is that he had someone following me. For all I know, he could have sent the man who attacked me at the hotel. I don't know why he would have me kidnapped." I believe her. My heart breaks thinking about everything her dad has done to her, and it doesn't seem like he's going to stop.
"Russell also said your dad hired him to kill Santino Buccheri, but he couldn't go through with it. Do you know anything about that?" Aubrey starts shaking her head, then gasps.
"Maybe. Right before Santino died, I was at my dad's house. It was one of the times he made me do sexual things with him while his wife was away. I had taken a shower, and when I came out of my room, I heard him on the phone. He was talking about a guy chickening out of their deal, so he had to find someone else. He told the person not to worry because the man he hired would make it look like a heart attack. Right before he hung up, he laughed and told the person on the phone they were really cold to do this to their own father." I shake my head as bile rises into my throat.
No, there is no way. I don't believe it. If what she said is true, then that means Galdino plotted with Edward to have his father killed. Is that what I'm missing that's been right in front of my face? Has Galdino been playing us all along? I have to find out because if he has, then he knows most of my secrets, and it could get me and my entire family killed.
