Chapter 206 Enzo
Enzo's P.O.V.
"Are you okay?" A woman asks.
"I need to go home. Can you call my mommy?" My mommy made her phone number super easy for me to remember.
"Yes. What's her number, sweetheart?" The woman asks as she pulls out a phone. I give her the number and wait.
"Hello. My name is Victoria. A little boy just ran out of a car and asked me to call his mommy." She hands the phone to me.
"Hello?"
"Enzo? Are you okay?" My mommy asks.
"Yes, Mommy. I did what Daddy said. I coughed so I could unlock the door, and I got out at a red light. I yelled for help very loud, like Dakota told me to. Can you come and get me now?" I ask her.
"Let me talk to Victoria again so we can find out where you are. I love you, honey."
"I love you too." I hand the phone to the nice lady. "My mommy wants to talk to you."
"Hello?" She tells my mommy where we are and puts the phone in her pocket.
"Let's sit on the bench until they come, okay?" Victoria asks. I sit on the bench and look at my shirt. This is one of my favorite shirts, and he tore it.
"Thank you for calling my mommy," I tell her.
"You're welcome. I'm glad I was here to help you. You're not hurt, are you?" she asks.
"No. He just tore my shirt when I got out of the car." She begins looking at her phone. A few minutes later, I see one of the SUVs pulling up. Dakota, Ari, my mommy, and my daddy get out. My mommy runs to me and lifts me up.
"I'm so glad you're okay. Thank you for staying with him until we got here," she says to Victoria.
"You're welcome. I didn't call the police, but now I realize I should have. I'm sorry," she replies. Dakota walks over and holds out her hand.
"You did the right thing; we'll take care of it. I'm Dakota Kondrati. Is there anything we can do for you to thank you for keeping Enzo safe?" she asks Victoria.
"No, but thank you. Bye, Enzo." She waves and walks away. Dakota takes me from my mommy and hugs me tight.
"I'm sorry I ran from the treehouse. You told me to keep everyone safe, and I thought that meant you, too, so I was coming to check on you and Ari. Are you mad at me?" I ask her.
"No, sweetheart. I'm not mad at you. I should have been more clear that I wanted you to stay at the treehouse. Do you know the names of the men who took you?" She kisses my cheek and carries me to the SUV.
"No, but they looked a lot alike." She puts me on the seat between her and Ari.
"Was this them?" she asks as she holds up her phone, showing me a picture of two men who look exactly alike.
"No. The men had blonde hair, and they looked alike but were a little different. They talked funny too, like some of the men at home," I tell them.
"Is this them?" My daddy turns around from the seat in front of us and holds up his phone.
"Yes, that's them," I say.
"Who are they?" Dakota asks.
"Shapiro and Zubov Tarasovich. They are Russians from one of the Chicago families. What did they say they wanted?" Daddy asks.
"They said they wanted to trade me for Dakota so they could talk to her. They ripped my favorite shirt, too," I tell him.
"Why would they want to talk to me?" Dakota asks my daddy.
"You're the head of the largest Russian family in New York. They probably want to see if you can work together or if you need to be eliminated." I look at Dakota.
"Are you going to work with them?" I ask her.
"No. They took you and tore your favorite shirt. Galdino, do you know where they might go?" Dakota asks.
"They have a house just outside of the city for when they come to New York," he says.
"I think I need to have a talk with them. Maybe do some negotiations." She looks at Daddy and Ari. Sometimes Dakota can look scary, but she doesn't scare me. I want to look like that when I get big.
