Chapter 200 Lab Tech
Dakota's P.O.V.
"Dakota, there's a lab tech at the gate," Xavier says as he walks into the room.
"Please let them in. Well, Enzo, right now, we're going to get Ari and Lydia to give some of their DNA to see if they're related. After that, how about we eat?" I ask him.
"Goodie. I'm hungry," he says as he rubs his belly.
"Do you want to come with me to the kitchen so we can see what we can make for everyone?" Sarah asks Enzo. He takes her hand, and Courtney follows them. I had planned to order something for all of us to eat, but I know better than to tell those two not to cook.
"Hello. I'm Tim." I turn and see a young, nervous man standing beside Xavier. I walk over and hold my hand out to him.
"Hello, I'm Dakota Kondrati. The two we need the DNA tests for are Lydia and Ari." I point to each of them, and Tim nods. He places his lab kit on one of the tables, cleans his hands with hand sanitizer, and puts on gloves. He hands Lydia and Ari each a questionnaire to complete while he prepares their tests. Once they're done, he labels their test tubes and gives them theirs to hold.
"I'm going to swab your mouths," he says, going to Lydia first. When he's done with her, he goes to Ari.
"We should have the results in a day or two," Tim says as he packs his things back up and Xavier shows him out. Enzo runs into the room thirty minutes later.
"The food is ready," he says.
"Felix, will you show Lydia to one of our spare rooms and then bring her down to eat?" I glance at my cousin, and he nods as he helps Lydia with her things. I'm hoping to give them a few minutes to talk because I know how much he cares for her, and I can tell he's angry and hurt about what she did.
When we go into the dining room, I'm blown away, as always, by the food Sarah and Courtney have prepared. They made stuffed chicken breasts, Italian pasta, salad, and garlic bread.
"Wow, this looks delicious. How did you make all of this so quickly?” Uncle Kozy asks as we all sit down.
"Uncle Kozy, you should know better than to question these two. When they're unleashed in the kitchen, miracles happen," I say. Everyone laughs while Courtney and Sarah blush. They love taking care of everyone, but neither likes all the attention on them. Felix and Lydia join us, and they both look a little better. I'll decide what to do with Lydia after we get the DNA results. I'm still on the fence about her, and I'm watching Gabe, too, just in case he knows more than he has said.
As everyone eats, I study each person carefully. Are any more of them dirty? I hope not, for all our sakes. After we're done eating, I meet with Ari, Xavier, Galdino, Benny, and the men who will be part of our security detail when we set up Myra. I then take out Lydia's phone.
"What are you going to tell her?" Ari asks as he massages my shoulders.
"I'm going to tell her there's a family meeting tomorrow, and everyone will be there." I talked Zakhar, Amanda, and their kids into staying here for the night just in case Myra decides to visit their house before we all arrive. Benny sent a few of Galdino's men to watch the house overnight.
There's a family meeting tomorrow at Zakhar's house. Everyone will be there because they're going to talk about who they think is behind the explosion. I text Myra and wait for a response.
That's not much time to prepare, but I'll get you what you need. It will be outside your apartment door in three hours. What's the address for the meeting? I send her the address and wait.
Don't fuck this up again, Lydia, or I'll kill you like I should have done before you were born.
I won't, I promise. It makes me sick to think of how Myra manipulated Lydia into doing her dirty work. I can't wait to get her into the negotiation room. I understand now why Grandpa Chrissy felt the need for one. Sometimes, people need a little encouragement to come to their senses, and if they don't, they can pay the consequences. Honestly, I don't think anyone has actually left the negotiation room alive. Who am I to change that tradition?
