Chapter 183 Blast From The Past
Dakota' P.O.V.
"I'm glad you're all here because I was going to suggest we all stay under one roof until this war is over. I don't want any of the other families to get to any of you in order to get to Ari or me. We know a few of our enemies, but I'm sure there are more out there. Please just be careful when you're outside the house." Everyone smiles at me, and Ashton, who will be eighteen in a few days, walks over to put his arm around my shoulders. He looks just like my dad but has blue eyes like mine.
"How did you get to be the boss when you're so tiny? Shouldn't you still be playing with dolls?" I punch my brother in the arm, and he laughs. He's a lot taller than me and always teases me about my size.
"You know she's like Mighty Mouse and Speedy Gonzales in one body. Dakota will be ten steps ahead of everyone else and have an entire town bowing to her before we even know there's a problem." I smile at Bobby Junior. He's the same age as Ashton but built like an ox, like his dad.
"Thanks, BJ, but you just compared me with two mice, so I don't know whether to be flattered or offended." Everyone starts laughing, and I join them. I love my family.
"Excuse me, Dakota. Can we talk to you?" I turn to Galdino, Valentina, and Benny. From the looks on their faces, I know it's not good. Looks like it's time to get back to work.
"Let's go to my office." I wave to my family before I leave.
"What's going on?" I ask as soon as my office door is shut. I sit at my desk and wait.
"My maid, Delia, is on the way here. Benny discovered the fire was caused by a package delivered to the house. After taking it from someone else, Delia placed the package on the coffee table. I want her in the negotiation room. I may not kill her, but I will scare her. I want you to be there too if you don't mind. If what we saw on the camera is true, I want you to hear it too." I don't like the sound of this.
"Okay, when will she be here?" I ask as Benny looks at his phone.
"She's here now," he replies.
"Okay, let's go. Oh, before we start this, I want to show you something." I pull out my phone and show Galdino and Valentina the pictures of Ari reading with Enzo and then the two of them sleeping.
"They look like brothers already." I wink at Valentina, and she smiles.
"Yes, they do," she says. I reach for the door handle, but stop. Should I do it? Yeah, why not?
"Remind me to make your room soundproof. The sound of my future father-in-law and mother-in-law having sex is not high on my bucket list." I open the door and walk out before they can say anything, but I hear Benny trying not to laugh. When I glance back, I see that Galdino and Valentina both have red faces. Haha, I made the mob boss blush. That was definitely on my bucket list.
We walk into the negotiation room, and I'm surprised to see Valentina staying with us. I wasn't sure this would be something she would want to see. However, if she's in a relationship with Galdino, she'd better get used to it. Delia is sitting in the metal chair, nervously wringing her hands. She looks like she's in her late forties or early fifties.
"You wanted to speak with me?" she asks Galdino.
"Yes. I want to know why you helped blow my house up." Delia looks away, and I expect her to pretend she doesn't know what he's talking about, but she suddenly starts laughing.
"Why wouldn't I? I have worked tirelessly for your family. What have I gotten out of it? A few extra dollars every year and some bonuses. No, thank you. I deserve real money for everything I know that goes on there. You should be kissing my feet for not opening my mouth, but instead, you act like I'm not even there. Well, guess what? Someone finally offered me good money, and I accepted. So what are you going to do about it?" She crosses her arms and glares at Galdino. Benny opens his phone and holds it in front of her.
"Is this the person who paid you and had you plant the bomb?" he asks.
"Yep." She looks awfully smug for someone who's about to die.
"Please, can I do it?" We all look at Valentina in surprise.
"You want to do it?" I ask her.
"Yes. One thing I know about is loyalty. Once you betray someone's trust, there's no going back. She could have killed all of you because of her greed." I believe Galdino is falling deeply in love with her right now.
"Please, let me see what you can do." He kisses her, and I smile. I love seeing them together. Valentina pushes up her sleeves and goes to the tools hanging on the wall. She runs her hands over them, and I see Delia's smirk fade.
"What are you doing, and who is she?" Delia asks.
"She's my future wife, and she's the one who's going to kill you. I trusted you in my home, and so did my dad. For you to try to kill us is an automatic death sentence." Delia's face turns white.
"I told you I'm not an assassin, but I know how to defend myself, and I did work for another mob boss, so I learned a thing or two. I don't like torture, but I believe in hitting them where it hurts." Valentina picks up a fire poker. She swings it and hits Delia's hand. She screams, and Valentina takes the poker and pierces Delia's foot.
"You can't kill me!" she yells. I see something in Valentina's eyes, and I know she was born to be a mafia wife.
"Watch me." Valentina takes the poker and shoves it into Delia's chest right through her heart. When she's done, she walks over to Galdino, and they kiss with a whole lot more tongue than I want to see.
"So, who is the woman who gave her the bomb?" I ask as we walk out of the negotiation room. Benny shows me a picture of a pretty woman with dark brown hair on his phone.
"Who is she?" I look at Galdino, and his face gets hard.
"Her name is Myra. She's Ari's mother."
