Chapter 167 Congratulations
Dakota's P.O.V.
No one says anything at first, and then Sarah runs over to hug me.
"I knew it. I told them that there was no way he was going to let you get away after he got you." I laugh, and everyone else comes over to congratulate us. My mom is beaming at me as she hugs me.
"I'm so happy for you, sweetheart. I could see from the way he looked at you that it was only a matter of time." Dad hugs me next, and then Galdino.
"I told you that you were basically my daughter-in-law, and now it will be legal. I'm happy for both of you." He kisses my cheek, and I see the sadness in his eyes. Galdino needs a woman to love. She has to be strong and not take any shit, though. Otherwise, he'll get bored. Maybe I can be a matchmaker for him, too.
After everyone leaves and we finish eating, I go to my office to meet with Luka and Rain. They want to talk to me about an idea Luka has. They're already waiting for me when I get there.
"Congratulations again," Luka says, kissing my cheek.
"Thanks. I'm super excited, more so than I thought I'd be. You look a lot better today." I tell him as I sit behind the desk. He sits down and takes Rain's hand.
"I almost feel like my old self. Rain and I were talking, and it gave me an idea. I would like to start a rehab facility for addicts. I want to have inpatient and outpatient options. Going through this, even though it was a short time for me, I see how hard the struggle is. Rain has helped people for years and knows firsthand what happens when people can't stop. I want to make a difference, and I think she and I can. What do you think?" Luka and Rain look at me nervously.
"I think that's an incredible idea. We're closing the bar that Yegor had. What if we remodel it to be a rehab facility? I'll have Noah and Kylie look into the permits needed and other legalities to see what we need to get started. Then we need to think about the staff. I will make the two of you the owners and managers so you can oversee everything and be involved as much as you want." I quickly write down a list. When I look at the new couple, they're staring at me with wide eyes.
"I thought you might be against me doing anything related to drugs. A part of me still thinks you're disappointed in me." I walk around the desk to hug Luka.
"You're human, and we make mistakes. You'll be able to speak to the people you help better because you understand what they're going through. Nothing you do will ever disappoint me." Rain smiles at me, but I see the pain she's trying to hide.
"Thanks, Dakota. There's one other thing. Rain's dad is the cause of just about everything that has happened to her. I want to find him and have a little talk with him." Now he's talking. I walk over to Rain and squat in front of her as I take her hand.
"You know you're part of this family now, right?" She nods. "I'm sure you know when we have talks with people, they're not really talks, and they won't be walking away."
"Yes." I look into her eyes and see she knows exactly what I'm talking about.
"Good. So, do you want to be in the room when your dad is brought here?"
"Yes. Luka told me about the negotiation room. I've tried to push everything he did to me away, but it's still there. Between the scars on my body and the nightmares in my head, he will never go completely away." I squeeze her hand and stand up.
"Then give me his name, and we will bring him here so you can get your revenge." Rain smiles, and I hug her.
"Thank you for everything. I thought my life was over when Yegor kidnapped me. You have both shown me more kindness in the last twenty-four hours than I've had in my entire life." I don't know how she has stayed so strong with all that has happened to her.
"Rain, your story is only just beginning. You're stronger than you think; we're lucky to have someone like you in our family." A few minutes later, she and Luka leave. Noah and Kylie walk in holding hands, and I sit back in my chair, smirking at them.
"So, how was it?" I ask them. They sit on one of the couches, and Noah opens his laptop.
"How was what?" He asks while looking at his computer screen.
"Your first time having sex." The way their faces turn red with embarrassment is all the entertainment I need. Someone should have warned poor Kylie that I like to tell it like it is.
