Chapter 125 Mom
Dakota's P.O.V.
I can't believe some jackass thinks he can claim to be Uncle Gory's son and the head of the family. I walk to the nurse's station and try to smile, but with the way everyone scatters, I give up.
"Hello. What can I do for you, Miss Kondrati?" The one nurse who remains behind is an older woman who smiles.
"I was wondering if you could tell me where I can find the transporters who took Ari to his procedure." I try to keep my voice calm. She looks at the computer and frowns.
"I only see one name. Robert. Would you like me to have him come up here?" she asks.
"Yes, please." I walk back to Ari's room. I have no doubt that Robert isn't the man I'm looking for, but maybe he knows the other man's name.
"What did you think I was going to do? Go out there in a murdering rage? You are both looking at me like you expected me to be covered in blood," I say.
"You do look like you're ready to kill someone," Noah replies.
"Only one transporter was listed, so I'm going to see if he knows the other guy's name. Did you call Uncle Yegor?" I sit next to Ari.
"Yeah, he's on his way. He didn't even question why you wanted to see him." Noah begins typing on his computer again.
"Excuse me. Theresa said you wanted to see me." I look up and see the transporter.
"Please come in. I just have a few questions about the man who was with you. Do you know his name?" He steps in but stays by the door like he's ready to run out at any second. Why is everyone acting like I'm going to pull out my knife and slaughter everyone in the hospital?
"He said his name was Dominick, and he was new. I have been out on family medical leave for a couple of months, and this was my first day back." I narrow my eyes at him. He's hiding something.
"What aren't you saying? Don't be scared. I just want to find him." I try to keep my voice calm, but it's getting hard.
"He had a lot of questions about the Buccheri family and yours. I didn't know much about either of them, other than that Galdino owns the hospital. He had trouble logging in, so I used my login information. I left the room for a minute, and when I returned, he was writing something down on a piece of paper. He logged off and put the paper in his pocket before I could see what he was doing. He left right after we transported Mr. Buccheri back to his room." Robert looks like he's going to cry.
"Thanks for telling me. I don't blame you. How old are you?" I ask him.
"Twenty." Ari looks at me like I just asked the guy to marry me, and I roll my eyes.
"Are you in school?" Robert relaxes a little.
"Yes, I'm in nursing school." I smile and nod.
"Good. Be more careful with your login information next time. You can go. Thank you for being honest." He practically runs out of the room. I look at Ari and raise my eyebrows at him.
"Did you have a problem with the questions I asked him?" Ari smiles as I stroke his head.
"No, but why did you have to get so personal? You can't blame me for thinking some man will come in here and sweep you off your feet." I shake my head.
"You have to stop with the jealousy. I said I love you, and I want no one else. I don't care if every bone in your body was broken and I had to change your diapers; I would still want you. It's not your body I fell in love with. It's you. I was just trying to keep him from peeing his pants. I am not a scary person, and I wish people would stop acting like I am." Ari and Noah look at each other and laugh.
"I love you, sweetheart, but you're the scariest person I know. You're also the most beautiful. That makes one hell of a sexy package." I smile and shrug as I kiss Ari's head.
"Oh, well, at least it makes people do what I want." We look at the door when there's a knock.
"Can I come in?" Uncle Gory asks.
"Yes, of course. Thank you for coming, Uncle Yegor." I get up so I can hug him.
"Uh, oh. You used my name. What's going on?" I've called my uncles by the nicknames I gave them since I was four, but when it's a serious matter, I call them by their real names.
"We have something to show you," I tell him. Noah turns the computer toward us. "This man claims to be your son." I watch his face as he studies the image.
"He looks familiar, but I don't know him, and he's definitely not my son," Uncle Yegor replies.
"He's the one we believe tried to blow us up. He may have also been the one who killed Grandpa Chrissy. Luka said a few years ago that this man approached him, claiming he was your son and the rightful head of the family. Are you sure you don't know him?" He studies the image again and shakes his head.
"Like I said, he looks familiar, but I don't know from where. I'm sorry, Dakota. Maybe if I saw him in person, I would remember where I know him from." I look into his eyes and sigh. I believe him. I put my arm around him, and he hugs me.
"We'll find him. He came to the hospital and pretended to be a transporter. He transported Ari to his procedure. He's long gone now." I pull out my phone when it begins ringing. It's my dad.
"Hey, Dad," I answer.
"Hi, honey. Is your mom still there? I've been trying to reach her, but she's not answering."
"I haven't seen Mom since you guys left this morning. Why was she coming here?" Fear creeps up my spine.
"She was bringing you more clothes and some food that Courtney made for all of you. I was going to come with her, but Khloe is sick, so your mom told me to stay home with her. That was over two hours ago." He sounds worried, and I feel sick.
"Hang on, let me see if her car is in the parking lot." I turn to the others. "My dad said Mom came here over two hours ago to bring clothes and food. Now she's not answering her phone. I'll be right back."
I run out of the room, and Uncle Gory runs with me. We go down the stairs and run out to the parking lot. I check the visitor's lot, and I see my mom's car right away. When I run over to it, I scream. Clothes and food are lying on the ground, but that's not what made me scream. There's blood splattered on the side of the car.
