Chapter 89. The Farm

While driving the black dodge on the wide empty road, my mind is filled with how Ashley looked when we realized her father is almost an hour late for our meeting. We have discussed it yesterday, over the phone that I will be here to talk to him today.
She looked so young and yet her family is eager to give her hand to me, which made me wonder if the purpose is to really just keep the town safe. Despite that, I also think that two years from now she won't be that young anymore and that taking her as my mate would be alright. The plan is to make her my fiancee officially on her eighteenth birthday but for now we have to stick to the idea on how to resolve the issue with our long time enemies, the rogues.
I know the Snipes owned a vast land near the Southern boarder and it is close to the territory of the pack of wolves from the South. It should be a safer place knowing that the Alpha of the South is allied to my father. However, Maleficus have seen through his visions, the rogues hiding in that place and few other wolves that he mentioned are working in the lands. Maybe some of it belonged to the Snipes family, maybe they employ a few good wolves without knowing their real identity.
Speeding up my car half way until the end of town, I decided to halt on the side of the remote road in order to shift into my wolf form. It would be better to reach my destination faster. Pushing the door of my car open I sniff the air for any unusual scent. I am not mistaken when the scent of wolves invaded my nostrils, it made me growl in recognition. But before I shift I have to confirm the status of the warrior wolves that I instructed to follow me and for the few which I told to stay with Ashley and her mom.
"Yes your majesty we are on our way to where you are, I let Alex stay with four other warriors at the Snipes residence while I am driving with five warriors behind you."
I sighed and answer Caleb in the mind link. "Good! I stopped by beside the road can you tell the driver to hurry up and get here as fast as you can? I am smelling other wolves across the lands and if I am not mistaken this wolves are rogues and they carried a heavy scent of blood. I have a bad feeling about all this."
Tiny hairs from the back of my neck and across my arms and legs are beginning to stand as I remove my shirt and other clothing to free myself, I heard the annoyed word coming from Caleb towards the driver of his vehicle.
"Hey man! Step on it, Prince Vincent is already waiting near the South."
"I'm on the fastest speed Mister Caleb, we will be there in a few minutes."
I can go ahead first and made them follow but I don't trust the scent that i did not recognize in the air. I want a witness to whatever is waiting for us on the end of the boarder, I need to be sure that we can keep the Mayor of town safe. Ashley's father is an important ally to my own father and we need to keep him alive and keep the people's trust on the Royal Pack of wolves, since it was nearly destroyed by the rogues that terrorizes them.
My body quickly transformed into a big furry beast ready to conquer the rogues and whatever creatures that would try and get in our way. Just when I completed the process, my tilted ears caught the sound of Caleb and the rest of his companions approaching the road inside a big van.
The van halted a few feet away from my own car and then Caleb ran towards me to vow against my wolf form. "Your majesty we are here!"
I pace forward and command them through the mind link, there's no time to waste. Mister Snipes could be in danger.
"Everyone! Thank you all for coming, now begin to shift and let us protect the Mayor of town. But please be very cautious of other wolves that's hiding in the shadows, we could be facing the remaining leader of the rogues with his unknown companions."
They all bend their knees on the ground and answered me with respect. "Yes your majesty!"
"Caleb start tracking the scent of the old man since you have recognize him during their last visit in the palace. The others please watch our backs."
Caleb completed his transformation and quickly move to stand beside me. I need him to learn and exercise his sense of tracking abilities, most of the time Alex and Caleb are beside me learning on the warrior ways since I developed faster than a normal wolf. I've tracked enemies further than this distance.
"He is just a few miles away Prince Vincent, I think their house is not far from here."
"Good job! Let's keep it low and observe the surroundings for possible threats against his safety."
I gritted my teeth as we began to ran and I caught more scents across the lands. Horses and buffaloes, chickens, pigs and other poultry animals. These farm is bigger than we thought, it now masked the scent of wolves that I have recognized a while ago. It takes more concentration to distinguished the mixture of scents in the air but I could clearly recognized the one from Mister Snipes.
"Your majesty, I think Mister Snipes is just inside the house."
We all saw the image of a huge mansion built in a classic wood and stone. It stood proudly on the slightly elevated land which is surrounded by a low fence made up of stone. All the lights are on inside the mansion and we could hear the noise coming from the people talking inside the house. I stopped my feet near the fence which made the wolves stay still following my signal. I close my eyes and inhaled the scent in the air, carefully eliminating the scents of other animals.
The air turned different, it smelled of blood! Also I felt the exact location where Ashley's father is and the strange smell of other wolves that mixes with other animals!
I know their family raises these animals to supply fresh meat for their well known restaurant in town, and the fresh vegetables that came directly from their own yards as well. I wanted to think that her father is alright despite the possibility that he might be held hostage and is barely breathing right now.
I growled slowly. "There are wolves with him, we need to make a strategic approach."
Caleb looked at me with an eye full of questions, but before I could tell him, he began to understand the smell lingering in the air and so are the other warrior wolves with us.
There are no sign of other people outside the house not even someone who's guarding the place, if mister Snipes is being held against his will then the abductors are not aware that he have allies who will track him down.
According to Ashley, her Dad took a few local policemen to help him with the trip back here. Which only means that they are held captive as well.
"Caleb, go around at the back and bring three of the warriors while the remaining wolves stay with me."
Caleb nodded his head and agreed to my command while we all connected our sight with each other, making sure that the message is delivered efficiently and everybody understood.
"Yes your majesty!"
Their answer brought me a moment of peace. I took a deep breath and watch them walk away, taking a step into a safer position and waited for my signal. This better come out good, I wanted to bring back her father unscathed.
