With the familiar roads and the trees beside it with the birds chirping as we passed by, I can feel a growing sense of happiness as I remember the land where I come from. I know the warriors with me felt the same. As we have been away for quite a while, most of us missed the familiar grounds more. And there is one person that I miss the most. My Queen Luna of the Royal pack, Ashley. I wanted to surprise her by coming earlier than what was planned.

"Oh, we're almost there your majesty. It feels like home already."

Calib uttered while watching at the window of our vehicle. He is taking the steering wheel while I sat beside him in the front. The air and even the sky is familiar.

"It feels good to be back. I hope that nothing out of ordinary has happened while I am away."

Calib smiled behind the steering wheel. "Maybe no, your majesty. Maleficus and Beta Derek are there so rest assured that everything is in place and the same as how it was when we left."

I nodded and leaned my back against the leather seat. It was exhausting to be in a long journey. But in more than one hour we would be back in the Palace so it's all worth it. I waited patiently on my seat until we arrived at the tall gates of the Langston Palace, the warriors run as soon as they saw our vehicle coming.

The gates was opened promptly and we didn't stop to talk to the warriors since they already know that I am inside. One of the warriors with us, mind link the warrior guards on the gates to make it faster than usual. It didn't take long before we arrived at the wide parking of Langston palace.

"Welcome back your majesty."

I was almost startled as the voice of Maleficus rang beside my ear when I opened the door and get down. He was already standing in front of me with his eyes seriously asking for my attention. The old man has something urgent to say, that is why he is in front of me.

"I guess we could never surprise you Maleficus, and I am guessing my Queen already knows my early arrival."

He bow down and waited until I closed the door of the vehicle. Calib greeted him but he didn't respond. Until I stood in front of him and waited for his words.

"Your majesty I deeply regret to inform you that something happened while you are still on your way here."

My brows furrowed and my eyes turned dark. "What happened?!"

Just like a storm coming my feelings quickly changed. I tried my best to stay calm until I hear what is the bad news.

"Her majesty the Luna Queen is in a bad condition after an incident happened yesterday."

I gritted my teeth and my hand was quick to grab the black collar of Maleficus. Then I hold him up while questioning him. I cannot fathom what happened but I am furious to hear my Luna being in danger.

"Who were here yesterday and what happened? Where is she now?"

"Your majesty!"

Calib shouted and came to us. He holds my shoulders and helps Maleficus down from my strong grasp. "The Queen is in your bedroom, your majesty human guests arrived yesterday and poisoned her with the silver sprayed on her food."

"Damn it!"

I rushed toward the entrance of the Palace almost breaking the doors and all the furniture that get in my way. I wouldn't care about tearing this whole place down. A warrior guard opened the door of our bedroom when he saw me coming and then I stormed inside our room.

"Alpha King Vincent?"
The low voice of Mrs. Snipes who is sitting beside her on the bed is the first thing I heard as soon as I get in.

She is lying on the bed, her lips are pale and her eyelids dark. There is no color on her fingertips and her breathing is shallow. "What happened?! Why is she not waking up."

My eyes searched for Mrs. Snipes but she lowered her head and sob. "I am so sorry, your majesty. It is my fault, I never thought that my friends are connected to the enemies of the Royal pack. They are humans."

"Enemies? Who are they and why were they here in the Palace?"

I didn't let her out of my sight when she began to explain what happened yesterday. The footsteps outside tell me that Maleficus and the pack doctors are coming. While I am listening to her I clenched my fists and wished I should have come home earlier.

I took her hand and feel how cold they are. Maleficus came forward and speak. "She permitted to let the humans come in your majesty since they are friends with Mrs. Snipes."

"Where are these humans now?"
I brought her hand to my lips as I close my eyes and hope that the pain she feels will transfer everything to me. I cannot stand looking at her like this.

"They are in the dungeons with Beta Derek interrogating them from their act. All they answered so far is that their husbands die at the hands of the Royal pack warriors and they wanted to get revenged buy hurting the Luna Queen."

"Damn them! I will go there and slit their throats!"

Maleficus took a deep breath in and shook his head. "Don't your majesty, please don't decide now that you are very angry. I have given a quick remedy for the Luna Queen and it is up to her body to fight the poison. She will make it, just please calm down and let us pray for her quick recovery."

If only I could turn back time and head home earlier, I could have saved her. I made a low groan.

"Why were you not able to see that these will happen Maleficus? Are you not worried about my Lunas's safety while I was away?"

The old man looks at me with deep regret in his eyes. And he begin to tell me what happened the days before.

"We have been attacked your majesty, the outcome has already pre-determined that they will lose the fight however I have to heal myself for the magic I used. A strong spell to imitate your image into scaring the enemies away, making them fear your presence, and finally, making them submit to your power without your actual presence. It made me feel weary and has to replenish my strength when I woke up, the Luna Queen has already consumed the poison. I was too late to help her."

I look at him in total disappointment. "And why was I not informed of the attack?!"

Maleficus exhaled gently. "Informing you will lead to further complications, your majesty. More warriors will get hurt and blood will be spilled from the Western pack and the Royal pack. One territory could get conquered too and we can never allow that to happen. I saw everything, your majesty."

It is difficult to accept but the old man is right. There is always a better explanation of why he does what he does. The old man sees the future and I am going to be a fool if I were to blame him for this incident.

"Please I want everybody out of the room now except for me and my Luna Queen, everyone should leave."

The low command coming from me has the warriors and pack doctors move fast in getting out of the room. Mrs. Snipes is still crying but I couldn't find it in my heart to calm her. I cannot even do anything about the regret that I am feeling right now. So I just let her stand up and leave.

I hated the fact that I have arrived later. She is my responsibility and my life. What would happen to me if she couldn't survive this situation, I cannot forgive myself! The humans who caused her this will suffer. I swear to the Moon Goddess that they will be eliminated as soon as she comes back to her usual self soon.

Her breathing is still low, I can feel her faint heartbeat and I could not do anything. I never felt so useless in my entire life until now.
