Chapter 96
After making this decision, Ava felt relaxed.
She spent the whole day out and didn't feel tired at all.
Before heading home in the evening, she ordered dinner and red wine from Daniel's Western restaurant. Passing by a shop on the street, she went in and bought some scented candles.
She felt the biggest regret today was that she couldn't drink alcohol herself, and could only watch him drink.
When she got home, Ava first decorated the bedroom and living room, setting up the atmosphere.
Lily didn't know what she was up to, but seeing her making such a big production of decorating the house, she also pitched in to help. She guessed the couple's relationship was warming up again, and couldn't wait to go back to her room right now to report to Howard.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, what's the special occasion today?"
Ava paused, "Lily, what do you think it would be like if there were two little ones in this house?"
Lily's face lit up with a smile,
"Oh my, that would be so lively! You and Mr. Morgan have been married for three years; it's time to think about having a baby. This villa is really too quiet - usually it's just me here alone, you don't know how lonely it gets. If you ask me, while you're both young, you should work hard and have a few more."
Ava finished arranging the candles when the restaurant called, asking when to deliver the food.
She told them to wait a bit. She needed to confirm when William would be home.
He said yesterday he'd come back, and she stubbornly believed he would definitely come home today, making up for the missed candlelit dinner.
Just as she finished decorating the whole house, William called.
Ava calmed herself for a few seconds before pressing the answer button,
"Ava"
On the phone, William's voice sounded slightly tired. Just those two words, and Ava's heart tightened. A woman's sixth sense told her he wouldn't be coming home.
"Is she okay?"
A few seconds of silence on the other end,
"Ava, could you please bring me a change of clothes?"
Ava heard the answer in her heart, which slowly sank.
"Okay."
After hanging up, she first called the restaurant and told them to deliver now. She calmly went upstairs, pulled out a suitcase, and packed clothes - from underwear and socks to shirts and dress pants, she organized three complete sets and packed them in.
She figured he'd probably be tied up by Sarah for a while, with no freedom.
After packing these things, Lily called from downstairs,
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, the food's here. Do you want to call Mr. Morgan again and ask when he'll be home?"
Ava carried the suitcase downstairs. It wasn't heavy, but being pregnant now, she didn't dare use too much force, making the stairs difficult to navigate.
Seeing this, Lily rushed up and took the suitcase from her hands.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, are you..."
Lily thought she was running away from home again. Just now, after she took that call, her expression looked off.
Ava took a deep breath,
"Lily, we'll eat this meal together, don't wait for him."
Lily looked at the elegant steak on the table, then looked at Ava with confusion, thinking to herself, 'Mrs. Ava Morgan rarely sets up something so romantic. What's wrong with William? Not coming home again? Anyone would be upset about this. The good mood is ruined. What's the point of a candlelit dinner now? Any other woman would definitely make a scene.'
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, should I call and ask?"
Ava was unusually calm now,
"Lily, don't call."
Lily glumly carried the suitcase to the first floor, worried sick inside, afraid she'd run away from home again. The last time she saw her carrying a suitcase downstairs was when the couple had their worst fight, even signing divorce papers.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, you're not running away from home, are you?"
Ava touched the ring on her ring finger and told her with certainty,
"No. This is William's suitcase. I'll take it to him in a bit."
She didn't know if it was this ring that gave her confidence, but she felt that this time, no matter what Sarah did, she couldn't keep William's heart. She firmly believed his heart was at home.
As for the entanglement between him and Sarah, she wasn't interested in knowing.
Before, she had lost heart because she felt she had no place in his heart. As long as he loved her, she wouldn't let go.
Hearing her say this, Lily breathed a sigh of relief.
The scented candles were lit, flames dancing on the table.
"Lily, sit down and eat."
After living together for so long, Ava had never treated her as a servant. But Lily kept to her place and had never crossed boundaries because of her employer's kindness.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, how about I just keep you company and chat?"
Lily vaguely felt that today's Ava was different from usual - she was carrying many things in her heart, but had also let go of many things.
"Lily, let's chat while we eat. There's no point in me eating alone."
After several polite refusals, Lily got her utensils and sat down.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, Mr. Morgan actually can't let you go in his heart."
Ava curved her lips slightly, "Maybe."
"When you ran away from home last time, it really hurt him. For several days straight, he couldn't eat or sleep, and came downstairs asking me for sleeping pills. He just doesn't say it out loud, but he's actually crazy about you."
Lily recounted William's insomnia, adding some embellishments; her desire to see the couple do well was completely obvious.
Ava didn't know William had insomnia problems. She only remembered that when he held her, he fell asleep quickly - she'd still be talking to him when he'd already drifted off to dreamland.
"Lily, you've worked at the Morgan Family for many years, right?"
"Over ten years. When my child started school, I was already working at the Morgan Mansion. Back then, Mr. Morgan was still in school. He's the type who's been tight-lipped since childhood, doesn't like to express anything, and likes to say the opposite of what he means. If he says something that sounds bad, you absolutely can't believe it - it's definitely the opposite."
Talking about William, Lily opened up.
Ava thought back - she'd never heard anything nice from William.
When she bought new clothes, he said they didn't look good, the waist was too tight, not enough fabric. When she put on makeup, he said it didn't look good, too tacky, too flashy.
The jewelry she found outside, he called cheap stuff.
The only thing he'd ever praised was that lingerie nightgown.
If what Lily said was true, that everything he said was the opposite, then he was really something else.
Ava ate this meal quickly. After dinner, she went back to the master bedroom's walk-in closet and chose one of the latest season dresses William had sent over, then went to the wall of bags and selected a Chanel runway piece, put on full, delicate makeup, and came downstairs looking radiant.
When she came out pulling the suitcase, she saw James had parked the car outside the villa, waiting.
James was first stunned when he saw Ava. He knew Ava was beautiful, but at this moment, he found her breathtaking.
Beautiful like an angel descended from heaven.
Even better looking than the popular celebrity who endorsed the Morgan Group.
He took the suitcase from Ava's hands. "Mrs. Ava Morgan, are you going over there?"
Ava was momentarily stunned, then understood what James meant. Handing him the suitcase actually meant her task was complete.
She thought for a moment before answering, "Yes, I'm going."
James put the suitcase in the car and opened the passenger door. He thought to himself, Mrs. Ava Morgan should have made her move earlier. If it were him, he would have torn that angelic bitch Sarah to shreds long ago.
