Chapter 136

Chapter 136

Daniel's expression kept changing, and he finally decided to throw in the towel. He started complaining to William in the crowd.

"What the hell kind of weird employees did you hire? Who comes up with such terrible ideas?"

William stood in the crowd, nearly a head taller than everyone around him, his expression calm, looking like he was just there to watch the show.

Lucas grabbed the microphone and asked,

"Doing this in front of so many people isn't really appropriate. How about we lower the difficulty - would holding hands work?"

The host raised an eyebrow and said,

"We should ask our audience here. Does everyone agree?"

The crowd responded in unison,

"No!"

Daniel wanted to die. What was he thinking? Who would want to hold hands with him?

The scene fell into brief chaos.

After watching the drama unfold for a while, William finally spoke up,

"Alright, everyone, you've had enough fun. Don't push Mr. Wilson to the point where he kills himself tomorrow."

Only then did the crowd change their tune, "Fine, let's just do hand-holding."

Daniel glared angrily, thinking his good buddy would help him out of this mess, but after all that, he still had to hold hands.

He was cursing internally when, before he could react, Lucas, that brute, had already grabbed his hand and was pulling him through the crowd.

How embarrassing.

The two left, and the game continued.

This time, the draw was male number 13 and female number 14.

After the host announced it, everyone started making noise, wondering who it would be.

The result was highly anticipated.

William pulled out the card from his pocket, glanced at it, and calmly walked to the front.

Everyone was shocked - they'd actually drawn their CEO. William was always serious at the company, and employees both respected and feared him. They'd never seen what he was like when not talking about work.

At this moment, everyone's curiosity was through the roof, waiting for the game to begin.

Everyone's eyes widened as they looked through the crowd, trying to find out who the lucky girl was.

At this moment, no one noticed James secretly giving the host a thumbs-up. To make sure this celebration party went well and didn't get hit by William's wrath, he'd gone all out, even coming up with this kind of trick.

He'd figured it out now - if he wanted a good life, he had to keep Mrs. Ava Morgan happy. When Mrs. Ava Morgan was happy, the whole company was happy.

Ava clenched her hands but said nothing.

The host called out for a while with no response, though his eyes kept secretly glancing toward Ava, but she still didn't make a move.

Everyone was curious - who had the lucky card and was still hiding?

Evelyn, beside Ava, asked, "Ava, didn't you have that number?"

Ava nervously licked her lips. She'd already guessed this group had done it on purpose. She'd just argued with him in the room and wanted to stay aloof a bit longer.

She never expected that Evelyn, who usually spoke so softly, would now speak so loudly, as if afraid others couldn't hear. After she spoke, everyone looked over at her with knowing looks.

The host also asked her,

"Our beautiful Mrs. Ava Morgan, could you show everyone the number in your hand?"

Left with no choice, Ava had to bite the bullet and step forward,

"It's me."

The displeasure that had been half blown away by the sea breeze came flooding back to William. This woman was even avoiding him during a game - was he really that unwelcome to her?

On the stage, the two stood several meters apart.

William held the microphone, looking at her sideways, wondering how long she could keep avoiding him.

The host's eyes moved between the two of them, then began announcing the new round's rules,

"Our game gets harder as it goes on. Let me explain this round's rules. First, a three-minute kiss. Second, each person tells the other something they've been hiding. Third, the man must agree to one request from the woman unconditionally."

As he finished, someone in the crowd whistled, and the cheering continued.

Some people had already prepared their cameras to capture the gossip. Everyone was curious what their CEO was like in a relationship - his usual stern face really left much to the imagination.

Ava glanced at William, not far away, and quickly turned her head.

These game rules were way too awkward. She wanted to ask who came up with a three-minute kiss - was this a reward or a punishment?

Doing this in front of so many people was social death.

She was so nervous that her palms were sweating. She kept telling herself that, given his personality, he wouldn't go along with this nonsense, and once he spoke up, no one would dare argue with him.

Her heart hung in suspense, putting all her hopes on William.

Seeing the two standing still, the host spoke again,

"Mr. Morgan, Mrs. Ava Morgan, could you two stand a bit closer? At this distance, you'll only be able to blow kisses."

After he spoke, the two stood in place as if their feet were rooted to the ground. Neither moved.

The host was awkward for a few seconds, then quickly recovered,

"How about we start with the second task first - Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Ava Morgan each tell something you've been hiding from the other. Let's have Mr. Morgan go first."

Called out by name, William couldn't keep sulking. After all, this was between the couple - he couldn't let his employees see them make fools of themselves.

He picked up the microphone and slowly said,

"Actually, when I went on that business trip to Harmony City, it wasn't for work. I wanted to help you find someone. But I didn't find him."

Ava froze, looking at him in surprise. She only knew he was very bothered by Joseph's existence, but she didn't know he would go to such lengths for her, actively helping her search for Joseph.

Her cold heart gradually softened.

She looked at him, her mind full of their argument in the room earlier, silently thinking that while he was wrong, she had problems too. She shouldn't have provoked him with that - it would only cause unnecessary suspicion between them.

The conversation between the two was lost on the onlookers, who were just waiting to see their three-minute kiss. They were getting impatient.

The host handed Ava the microphone, "Mrs. Ava Morgan, your turn."

"What I said in the room earlier was a lie. I haven't found Joseph."

Hearing her say that, William's eyes flickered. He walked toward her with long strides. He'd been upset all this time over an imaginary rival. He thought to himself, I'll deal with you when we get back to the room.

While they were playing the game, no one noticed the man in the corner holding a wine glass between his fingers, looking at Ava on stage with gentle eyes, but when his gaze fell on William, it instantly became sharp, as if he wanted to bore a hole through him.

His assistant stepped forward and asked,

"Mr. Davis, should I call Miss Ava Davis over after this ends?"

The man made a quiet gesture and said calmly,

"Don't be rash. You'll scare her."

The assistant asked again,

"If we don't take the young lady back on this trip, Mrs. Davis Senior will make a fuss."

The man said in a low voice,

"I have my plan. I'll explain to Mrs. Davis Senior. Get a few more people to secretly watch that woman, don't let her harm Ava."

In the center of the game area, the host noticed the subtle change between the two. He figured now was good, right?

"Our Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Ava Morgan have completed the second task. Now, please complete the first task - a three-minute kiss. You can only get our mystery prize after completing all tasks."

Behind the stage, James urged two girls from HR, "Quick, move faster and make it look nice, we're running out of time."

He'd sent someone rushing ashore to buy William's usual condoms, three whole boxes, thinking that even if half were wasted, it should be enough for him. William couldn't possibly be strong enough for a dozen times in one night, right?

This mysterious grand prize - William should like it.
