Chapter 132
Sarah held up the dress and asked in confusion,
"Do I look okay in this?"
After being down for so many days and crying all morning, Sarah felt her eyelids were ridiculously swollen.
Emily pushed her straight into the bedroom and closed the door for her,
"Believe in yourself, you're the most beautiful. My brother likes your face; otherwise, he wouldn't have accepted Ava as a substitute."
Sarah was motivated by what she said. She went back to the bedroom and washed her face first. Looking at the running water from the tap, she suddenly felt nauseous. She rushed to the toilet and threw up all the yogurt she had drunk that morning. Her stomach still felt terrible, and she didn't know what was wrong.
She leaned against the wall to recover, then changed into the dress Emily had brought. It was a style she liked.
Emily had been waiting outside for a while and lost patience, so she pushed the door open. Seeing Sarah in the new outfit, her eyes lit up,
"Sarah, I told you this dress suits you. It was hanging in Michael's store, and I spotted it right away. I just felt it was made for you."
Sarah twirled around and asked,
"Does it look good?"
Emily gave a thumbs up, "It looks great!"
Sarah's mood improved, and she sat down at the vanity to do her makeup.
Emily smiled, "This is the Sarah I know. Do you know what you looked like when I first came in?"
Without waiting for Sarah to answer, Emily said,
"Like a defeated rooster. I won't allow my best friend to be bullied. No matter what, I'm on your side."
After Sarah finished her makeup, she looked energetic again.
"Emily, I will definitely win William back and drive that woman away from your brother."
On the other hand, William was sitting in the car, looking at documents, when he sneezed several times.
The designer he contacted sent over a new suitable outfit. After Ava tried it on, she put it in William's car. This time, William hid the clothes carefully, absolutely not allowing another accident to happen.
James called to report on work. William looked at the documents and pressed the speakerphone,
"Mr. Morgan, all the footage from the CEO's office after 1 AM was deleted, but we can check the elevator footage. Mr. Michael Morgan and Miss Emily Morgan took the CEO's private elevator last night and reached the nineteenth floor. As for whether they entered your office, we don't know."
William narrowed his eyes and replied, "Got it."
Ava was driving. She didn't want to eavesdrop on his phone call, but he had put it on speaker, and the call was about her.
Ava's face looked a bit unpleasant, thinking about the ruined dress made her feel frustrated.
She knew Emily had never gotten along with her, but that had always been in daily life. On such an important occasion, if something went wrong, it would first embarrass the Morgan Group. She hadn't expected Emily would go against her on such an important matter, even disregarding whether the launch event could succeed.
To make things difficult for her, Emily had no boundaries and acted purely on personal preference.
Usually, she couldn't be bothered to argue with Emily's childish behavior, but this time, it almost made the Morgan Group lose face, and Ava couldn't tolerate it.
"Emily was there."
She repeated James's words and glanced at him sideways.
William signed his name at the end of the document, put the things away, looked up at her, and said,
"What, you think Emily did it?"
Ava was driving, trying to keep her emotions in check. She asked,
"Isn't it obvious? The evidence is clear."
William was annoyed that she had no suspicion of Michael at all and directly blamed Emily,
"Michael also went to the nineteenth floor."
Ava nodded,
"Michael did go to the nineteenth floor, but he's also one of the Morgan Group's key leaders. It's not surprising for him to appear on any floor of the company, right?"
In comparison, Emily, this idle young lady, usually only appeared at the Morgan Group building when she needed money. Why would a girl like her come to the top floor of the Morgan Group in the middle of the night? What else could she be doing at this time if not something bad?
Ava thought this was something you could figure out without thinking. Emily did it.
William's face darkened again. He had reminded her countless times that Michael was not a good person and told her to stay away from him. Michael was extremely cunning, so deep that even he, his nephew, couldn't see through him.
Why did she think Michael was a good person?
"Ava Davis!"
William called her full name, looking at her with a face that could eat someone.
The smell of gunpowder filled the car again.
Ava could see they were about to fight again. They couldn't get along for long and had been fighting constantly since who knows when.
"William, I advise you not to fight with me right now. My driving skills really aren't that good."
William barely suppressed his temper. Neither of them spoke, and the car fell into a deathly silence.
The car stopped at his reserved parking spot. Ava got out of the car without even looking back at him and went straight into the employee elevator to the design department.
The most important task for Morgan Group employees today was to ensure the launch event went smoothly. Now that this task was completed, the office atmosphere was very relaxed.
Everyone was discussing tonight's celebration party. Many people had never been on a cruise ship and couldn't wait.
When they saw Ava come in, the conversation stopped abruptly.
Before, they knew her relationship with the CEO was unusual, but they hadn't confirmed she was the boss's wife. The company intranet was full of speculation.
Now that the CEO had announced this news at the launch event, the design department was shocked. They used to think Sarah was the boss's wife and had even joined that woman in isolating her.
The truth was eye-opening. It turned out Sarah was the other woman, and although Mr. Morgan valued her, he didn't seem to have those feelings for her at all. She was just throwing herself at him.
It completely shattered their worldview.
Now that they knew Ava's true identity, they were all terrified, afraid they would be the next one to get in trouble.
When Ava entered, everyone respectfully nodded and greeted her, then returned to their workstations and sat properly, as if the boss had come to inspect their work.
Ava couldn't help but smile at the situation,
"Everyone, relax. Just do things the way you used to."
Someone coughed,
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, you won't tell Mr. Morgan about us talking bad about him, will you?"
Ava returned to her workstation and said lightly,
"Feel free to criticize him. I won't see it."
Someone laughed a few times, and the atmosphere became more relaxed.
"Mrs. Ava Morgan, will our celebration party tonight last all night? Can we bring family members? My wife wants to go too."
At this point, people in the office started speaking up one after another,
"Right, right, my boyfriend wants to go too. He's almost thirty and has never been on a cruise ship."
Ava remembered hearing James instruct his subordinates in the CEO's office that there were extra rooms. The food on the cruise was prepared for double the headcount, and each entry ticket allowed a plus-one in.
"Didn't James send an email? Each employee should be able to bring one person in."
The people who asked got excited and shouted a few times, then someone said,
"The email came, the email came, everyone look quickly."
Sure enough, the next second, an email from the HR department arrived, saying the same thing as Ava: each employee could bring one family member.
Someone flattered her,
"Mrs. Ava Morgan's information is so accurate. Can our design department walk sideways in the company from now on?"
Ava felt sad for a second. She didn't even dare to walk sideways around William, so how could she let the design department benefit from this? That was impossible.
"Just call me by my first name from now on. I'll be leaving the design department soon. You all work hard."
Evelyn said, "Huh?"
"Ava, you're not staying in the design department? Your skills are so good - you casually produced a work that blew us all away. If you're not at the Morgan Group, where are you going?"
Before Ava could respond, a colleague next to her patted her,
"Are you stupid? She's the boss's wife. How could she stay in the design department like us? Mrs. Ava Morgan came to understand the common people's situation."
