Chapter 36 The Online Attacks Get Worse

Chapter 36 The Online Attacks Get Worse

The night before Seraphina was discharged from the hospital, the internet suddenly exploded.

Someone had posted online about Seraphina and Susan's collision at school that landed them both in the hospital.

The post was clearly biased, claiming that Seraphina, out of jealousy toward Susan, deliberately chose a blind spot without surveillance cameras to push Susan down from upstairs to kill her.

But karma struck back, and she ended up tumbling down herself!

Susan still got injured though, and given that she didn't have long to live anyway, she naturally seemed even more pitiful.

The two had already been fighting online, and the heat had just barely died down. Now this stirred up a thousand waves, and the attention reached unprecedented heights!

Of course, most people were condemning Seraphina.

[Seraphina, this troublemaker, how far does she have to hurt Susan before she'll stop?]

[I've never seen anyone with such strong jealousy that they'd even kill someone. Why haven't the police arrested her yet!]

[This kind of person deserves to die. I suggest the death penalty.]

Facing everyone's condemnation, Seraphina's expression remained cold as she reposted the tweet without hesitation.

[I understand everyone's anger, but I didn't push her. She pushed me, so if anyone should apologize, it should be Susan apologizing to me.]

The internet was already full of hostility toward Seraphina, and when she posted this, it stirred up even more anger, with everyone attacking her.

Then Susan chimed in with an explanation.

[Please don't blame Seraphina anymore. I'm sure she didn't mean it. Since we're both being discharged, let's just let this go!]

One shirking responsibility, the other being magnanimous and forgiving—the difference in character was clear.

For a moment, the online criticism of Seraphina became even more severe.

[Susan is so beautiful and kind-hearted, while Seraphina is just heartless!]

[I heard her parents died long ago? Serves her right for being an orphan!]

[Having such an evil person living freely in society is a failure of our entire society!]

Facing everyone's insults, Seraphina didn't respond again.

Susan kept trying to calm people down in the comments, but while doing so, she accidentally "slipped" and liked several tweets.

Without exception, they were all from people claiming to be parents at that elementary school who had personally witnessed Seraphina trying to push Susan that day, only to face the consequences herself.

Even though Susan quickly unliked them, sharp-eyed netizens and fans still noticed.

In the blink of an eye, Seraphina's name was practically tied to that of a murderer!

On the day of her discharge, Seraphina didn't notify anyone.

After all, everyone was busy, and now that she could move around, she couldn't keep troubling others.

After completing the discharge procedures, Seraphina walked out of the hospital.

She looked up at the sky—the sunlight was brilliant. Before she could even breathe a sigh of relief, a group of people suddenly swarmed toward her.

"Bitch!"

"Beat this damn homewrecker to death, you don't deserve to live!"

"You vicious woman, you should die, why aren't you dead yet, go die..."

Whether they were outraged netizens or Susan's fanatic fans, when they saw Seraphina, they immediately rushed at her, punching and kicking her!

Seraphina had no time to defend herself. There were too many people. She could only raise her hands to block their attacks, unable even to stand steady.

Swaying unsteadily, someone suddenly pushed her hard.

She fell to the ground, curling up into a ball...

"An illegitimate daughter with no parents, how dare you compete with Susan for a man!"

Someone said viciously, and Seraphina's heart suddenly tightened...

She wasn't—she wasn't without parents!

They had just left her, that's all.

After a long while, when Seraphina was in so much pain she was almost numb, security finally noticed something was wrong.

They immediately came forward and dispersed the crowd.

"Miss, are you alright?"

Seeing Seraphina's miserable state, the security guard asked carefully.

Seraphina shook her head and tried to stand up.

But having just been discharged, her body was still weak. After several attempts to get up failed, she smiled bitterly.

How pathetic.

"Do you know you were wrong now?"

Suddenly, a cool voice sounded in her ear.

Seraphina froze slightly as a pair of black custom-made leather shoes entered her vision.

Following the shoes' owner upward, she saw Michael looking down at her disheveled state, his face cold without a trace of sympathy.

"You came just to tell me this?"

Seraphina laughed coldly.

A cold gleam flashed in Michael's eyes as he said in a low voice, "This incident has been all over the internet lately. There's no way to settle it privately. Just apologize to Susan publicly, and I'll handle the rest."

Seraphina scoffed lightly and didn't answer.

She tried several more times but still couldn't stand up. Instead, she fell heavily to the ground again, scraping her wrist until it bled...

Seeing the shocking blood, Michael's expression shifted slightly, and he instinctively reached out his hand.

But another pair of hands beat him to it, lifting Seraphina from the ground and holding her securely.

"Ms. Borgia, are you alright?"

Seraphina looked up and met Warren's worried eyes.

She pressed her lips together and shook her head lightly. "I'm fine, thank you."

"I should be the one apologizing for forgetting today was your discharge day."

Warren frowned slightly, his tone apologetic. "You're injured? Let me take you to get bandaged up!"

"It's fine, just a minor injury..."

Watching the two of them close together, seemingly relying on each other, Michael's dark eyes deepened as he warned in a low voice, "Mr. Churchill, please let go!"

"Seraphina is my wife. Hugging and holding my wife in front of me—isn't that inappropriate?"

Warren looked up, staring coldly at Michael without backing down.

"Is that so? But when Ms. Borgia was sitting helplessly on the ground just now, I didn't see you help her up. Those who know would say she's your wife, but those who don't might think she's your slave!"

With that, he helped Seraphina toward the hospital.

The next moment, Susan's wrist was gripped tightly.

She looked up indifferently and found herself looking into Michael's eyes, which held a trace of panic...

"Seraphina, are you sure you want to leave with him?"

Seraphina's lips moved, but before she could speak, a figure came running over and subtly knocked Michael's hand off her wrist.

"Michael, I knew you'd remember to pick me up!"

Susan's face was full of happiness. As if she hadn't seen Seraphina at all, she wrapped her arms around Michael's neck, hanging on him.

Michael froze slightly. Afraid she would fall, he still reached out to support her.

The two embraced tightly. From a distance, they really looked like a loving couple!

Seeing this, Seraphina laughed mockingly.

So he came to pick up Susan after all, and wanted to personally witness her humiliation and degradation.

What a good husband indeed!

She turned to Warren and said softly, "Let's go."

After a long while, Michael finally came to his senses.

Just as he was about to take Seraphina to bandage her wound, he found the area around him empty...

His wife was gone.
