Chapter 34 Taking Her Side

Chapter 34 Taking Her Side

Just as Seraphina expected, after treating the burns on his face, Michael came storming back with the two women.

As soon as they entered the room, Leila pointed at Seraphina and accused her through gritted teeth: "Michael, we just came to get an explanation, and she actually splashed hot water on us and kicked us down!"

"We've been good friends for so many years, so don't blame me for being blunt, but Seraphina is just too vicious!"

Seraphina's expression remained calm, though her eyes were full of mockery.

Michael's face darkened as he turned to look at Susan, whose face was bright red: "Susan, is it like what Leila said?"

Susan didn't like Leila either, but right now they had a common goal.

She had to bite her lip, her eyes red, and speak pitifully: "I was too nervous at the time. By the time I realized what was happening, I had a cup of water thrown at me, and then I fell to the ground..."

"That's right, good thing I blocked most of the water for Susan, or she would have been in even worse shape!"

Leila didn't forget to add, taking credit for herself once again.

Michael's brows furrowed tightly, the coldness in his eyes growing more intense as he stared at Seraphina on the bed, his voice grim.

"Seraphina, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Seraphina's lips curved up in a mocking smile: "What do I need to say?"

"So you're admitting you attacked Susan and Leila?"

Michael questioned with a frown: "Pushing Susan down the stairs wasn't enough, and when they came just to get an apology from you, you wouldn't even give them that. Are you crazy?"

"I'm not the one who's crazy—you're the one who's blind!"

Seraphina's smile disappeared as she said coldly: "First of all, I didn't push her. Just now, they tried to hit me first. I was just defending myself. What's wrong with that?"

"Leila and Susan are reasonable people. How could they possibly attack you? You're still lying!"

Michael had almost no trust in her whatsoever.

Seeing someone backing them up, Leila became even more smug: "That's right, it's bad enough that you're so evil, but why do you love lying so much? When did we ever try to hit you?"

"You need evidence when you make accusations. Do you have any evidence?"

"This room is quite lively."

Just as the atmosphere grew tense, a lazy voice came from the doorway.

The three turned to look. Warren was carrying an insulated food container as he walked in slowly.

Without even glancing at them, he went straight to Seraphina: "You must be hungry. I just made some chicken soup—it smells great. Try it quick!"

"Seraphina, what's the meaning of this? You're not even divorced from Michael yet, and you dare to cheat on him openly? What do you take Michael for!"

Leila's eyes widened as if she'd instantly caught Seraphina red-handed, shouting loudly, wishing the whole world would know.

While speaking, she kept watching Michael's expression.

Seeing his grim face, she added fuel to the fire: "Seraphina, have you no shame? Michael has been so good to you, you're completely heartless!"

Before Seraphina could say anything, Warren's expression changed. He looked up at Michael with a half-smile.

"How interesting—three women in this room all connected to Mr. Talbot. One first love, one soon-to-be ex-wife about to divorce, and who's the third one?"

He continued with a meaningful expression: "I get it now. I've heard before about women who pretend to be friends but are actually mistresses. Looks like this lady has quite a bit of experience?"

"What nonsense are you talking? Who's a mistress?"

Leila's face turned bright red as she rushed to defend herself.

Warren just shrugged nonchalantly: "Whoever's spreading rumors about me and Ms. Borgia, that's who!"

"Someone who doesn't know better might think you're desperate to climb up the ladder, talking so much."

"Mr. Churchill!"

Michael's face darkened as he finally couldn't take it anymore and interrupted Warren: "Mr. Churchill, since you know she's my wife, don't you think it's inappropriate to come to the hospital first thing in the morning to fawn over her?"

After meeting at the police station that day, he had investigated Warren.

Warren, heir to the Churchill Group.

He had been developing in Thalassia, practically monopolizing the construction industry there, then came to Silverpeak City two years ago, abandoning the family's traditional business to focus on developing emerging technology.

In recent years, his business had grown rapidly, and he'd already made quite a name for himself in Silverpeak City.

In terms of strength, he was almost on par with the Talbot Group.

Rumor had it he had a young niece whose parents were unknown, and most people thought she was his illegitimate daughter.

Michael really couldn't understand why, with Warren's background and status, when he could have any woman he wanted, he would choose to pursue Seraphina.

Warren didn't even look at him, keeping his head down as he portioned out the chicken soup from the container.

The moment he poured it out, the aroma filled the air.

"So, as Ms. Borgia's husband, is it appropriate for Mr. Talbot to bring his first love and so-called friend here to cause trouble?"

He asked calmly, then looked up with a challenging smile.

"Mr. Talbot, you should know—when you don't treasure someone, there's always someone else who will!"

With that, he scooped up a spoonful of chicken soup and brought it to Seraphina's lips with a warm smile: "Come on, drink a little at least. It's the thought that counts."

Seraphina looked at Warren's intimate gesture, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

But she knew Warren was deliberately trying to provoke these three people.

If Warren hadn't come, she really would have been helpless and isolated in this hospital room...

But before she could open her mouth, Leila started yelling again: "You think what you're protecting is something good? She almost killed Susan, and just now she splashed hot water on us and kicked us. We just came to ask her how she dares to do such things!"

"The person you claim to treasure is actually a murderer!"

Warren's eyes swept over Leila with displeasure, his low pressure making her instantly shut up and shiver uncontrollably.

"A murderer? Whether Susan's condition is serious or Ms. Borgia's is more serious—as long as you're not blind, you should have eyes to see for yourself!"

Hearing this, Susan tugged at Leila's sleeve with red-rimmed eyes, her voice weak: "Leila, forget it. I don't want to pursue this matter anymore. It's all my fault, I was careless."

Looking at her meek appearance, Leila was frustrated beyond words and rolled her eyes hard.

"Susan, you're just too weak, that's why she bullies you!"

Then she turned to Michael: "Michael, are you really going to let her off like this? What about the injustice Susan suffered!"

Michael's brows furrowed tightly, his heart irritated beyond measure.

Looking at the pale-faced Seraphina and Warren sitting beside her, he found them more annoying the more he looked!

"Seraphina, I want you to apologize..."

Before he could finish, Seraphina picked up her phone, which was playing a video.
