Chapter 67 — You Can’t Take Her
Tatum’s POV:
"We must take the girl." I heard one of the men say.
"What, take her, why?" I ask as I pull Luna's body closer into me.
"Son, we have to take her. You of all people know the code." My mother says gently.
"But she was protecting us!" I shout.
"Mother, they were going to kill us! She risked her life!" Kali said as she came out from behind me.
"Even if she did, you know there are procedures we have to follow before we can allow her to return." My mother replies.
"Screw your damn procedures! You could have lost both your children tonight if it wasn't for her!" Kali shouts as tears stream down her face.
"Kali…" My mother begins to reply.
"Regardless of why the events of tonight took place she still has to come with us." One of the cloaked men spoke.
"Mother, you can't do this. You can't let them take her." I say as tears burn my eyes and I slump to the ground with Luna's body.
"Your mother has no choice in the matter." The cloaked man speaks again and raises his arm once again.
“Like hell you will take our queen!” A strange man shouted as he ran up towards me.
“And who exactly are you?” I snarl, clutching Luna closer to my body.
“There is no time to explain, but you cannot let these people have her!” The man yelled as he stood in front of me and looked towards all the white robed men.
“Hmm so your kind is aware of who she is?” One of the cloaked men spoke.
“Yes, we are very aware of who and what she is, and we are also aware of who and what you are. You cannot have her.” The man spits out.
Before I can even blink the strange man reaches out and touches Luna and then disappears taking her with him.
“No, no, no!” I yell as I get to my feet and begin to panic.
"Where are they taking her!" I shout.
“To the underworld I presume.” One of the cloaked men spoke calmly as if it was natural.
“A place in which we aren’t able to follow.” My mother says.
“Why did they take her!?” I shout looking towards my mother.
“I...I don’t know, son.” My mother begins to speak.
“Because she is their queen.” The cloaked man spoke again.
“What!? What do you mean their queen!” I yell.
“She is the queen of demons. We were beginning to wonder if they knew of her existence. Her father was the king so it is only to be expected that she would take the throne after he died but before anyone could reach her she disappeared. Her parents were very cautious when it came to keeping her shielded from their world. Once she comes fully into her powers she will be the strongest demon and witch at this present time.” The cloaked man said casually.
I am stunned momentarily as I try to process what the man just said.
“Did you know about this?!” I said and turned to my mother.
“No son, I had no idea! I knew she was a hybrid but I had no clue that she was the demon queen.” My mother responds as I begin to seethe in anger.
“Your mother speaks the truth. There are even things we are not at liberty to discuss with her.” The cloaked man says coldly.
“How do I find her!” I snarl at the man.
“That, we cannot tell you. She is among demons and we are not allowed to enter their territory.” The man says.
“So then all I have to do is find a demon?” I ask as my mind starts to race.
“That is easier said than done,” my mother replies.
“Why? It can't be that hard to track down a demon and force them to take me to her.” I replied.
“That may work but only until you reach the underworld because they will kill you before you are even able to reach her.” The man says.
“That won't happen.” I snarl.
“And what makes you so sure?” The man asks curiously.
“Because I am her mate.” I growl.
“That may be but you will not survive past the front gate.” The man snorts.
“That's what you think!” I snarl as I turn and walk away leaving everyone behind.
My mother yells my name as I walk away and I can hear Kali snarly angrily at her and the cloaked men. I am focused solely on one thing right now and that is how to reach my mate.
