Sweet Darkness

No one in the room takes a breath as I feel a familiar presence, I hear a voice that my body welcomes like my soul is restored. I hear this person call to me in my mind, I hear them outside like a raging storm that swallows everything in its path.

Suddenly, I am swept up into the warmth of someone's arms, I look towards my rescuer, and I am so thankful he has come. I am alarmed to see him looking haggard, covered in blood but, I welcome his presence.

My father is growling in anger and the rest of the family are pale white in fear. “Mind telling me why for the past two hours I have felt excruciating pain coming from my mate, and I find her here, looking like she could die in moments?” he says with dark fury.

I feel as if the room begins to tremble, it feels like something is setting off an earthquake. I look into the eyes of my love “David,” I say in a weak voice. He kisses my forehead and then growls like a storm at my father's family. Everyone falls to the floor, on their knees.

David's powerful aura is a force to be reckoned with. His dark eyes look lit with fire, his rage is so thick I can taste it. As I close my eyes, as I sink unconsciously, I hear a mighty roar of rage standing next to David. I force my eyes open to be sure, he is here. My mind feels a hundred pounds of relief as I find comfort in the arms of the one who I thought I would never see again.

I whisper "let's go home love" I say to the love of my life as I succumb to darkness, feeling the world slip away.

Darkness was all around me, I felt disconnected from my body. Mentally, I feel like I am straying beyond thought and time. I feel like I am falling into a deep dark abyss, one that I have no power or hope to move from. My body feels heavy like it is weighed down by heavy anvils. It is like I am floating into the vast unknown of this darkened realm, wherever I am. I fight my best to find something, anything, anywhere that I can go.

“Hello?” I shouted.

It only echoes through a room as black as night. How long will I be forced to stay here? Why can I not find anywhere that has some light so I can see? Where am I? Am I dead? So many thoughts are racing through my mind.

I try to remember something about how I arrived here yet, my mind grants me not to say what happened to me. This endless eternity of night, how long must I linger? How much longer must I endure? Time stands still, I suddenly see a bright light approaching me. It pulls me in, it feels warm and familiar, like a long-lost friend yet I cannot see anyone, its power is blinding.

“Who are you?” I shouted.

There has to be someone here. I hear a soft giggle.

“Oh, how I have missed you dear” a sweet voice like a dove speaks to me.

“I am so sorry I was never fully there for you; everything can be restored if you come with me.”

I turn my head away from the blinding spectacle in front of me, her voice is familiar, so I speak.

“Show yourself!” I demand.

The light begins to dim, and I realize that I am standing face to face with the one person who should have been my best friend all my life and subjected me instead to grief.

“Mum?” I say incredulously.

She nods with tears in her eyes. I take a step back, this seems too real, too good to be true. She smiles at me.

“Hello sweetheart” I rush into her arms.

We embraced each other and I cried my heart out. I miss these moments.
