HER LUCKY DAY

The lady went wide in surprise staring at her as though she had said something strange. Laura was getting uncomfortable with the way the lady was staring at her.

"A cleaner?! Like are you for real?"

Laura heaved a deep sigh. She guesses she will have to go straight to the point so she will understand why she cannot do more of a cleaner's Job.

"I know this is absurd to your ears, but..." Laura trailed off. She just forgot that telling the lady why she wanted the Job might make her lose the job. Shit! Whatever! If the job isn't meant for her, then she can as well just lose it. It means it wasn't meant for her.

"Yes? I want you to explain why a beautiful young girl like you will come to a huge company as MAGIC MAN and request a maid job?"

Goodness! Why was she making it seem as though the job she asked for was the worse kind of job? She noticed the old lady doing the Job with so much enthusiasm..... so why can't she do the same.

"I know it might sound weird, but that's the only job I can handle. I'm not even sure If I'm qualified for it because I didn't finish school if you understand what I mean."

"Oh, I see. That's why you choose the job. But can you read?"

"Yes I can, I'm good at reading. She was the best in her class then.

"And you can write?"

"Yes, I can write as well." She also has the most beautiful handwriting as well.

"Then that's all the confirmation I need from you. You are the best candidate for this Job. In time, you will understand."

Laura stared at the lady for a while. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath.

She was sure that she was daydreaming. There was no way the lady will give her a secretary job, after her explanations.

She opened her eyes, to confirm that she was daydreaming. But to her shock, she was still sitting right there in front of the lady who seem to be staring at her with a smile on her face.

"Are you done thinking?"

"I...hold on, am I getting the job as a cleaner?" Laura wanted to be sure of the job and if she was getting at all. She was so sure she didn't grasp what the lady said earlier.

"No, you aren't working as a cleaner, but as a secretary, you will be replacing me soon."

Laura let out a gasp. She could not believe her ears.

"B...but I don't know how to be a secretary. I never worked as one before. What should I do and what shouldn't I do? I mean-"

"Hey, calm down, you will get yourself and I worked up at this rate. Just relax. I'm the one in charge, and I can tell you are a smart girl. Your looks are a goal, and one of the things I need because you will not only be attending to your boss but to potential clients as well."

Laura took in a sharp breath to calm her nerves down. The lady was right. She might get a panic attack at the rate with which she was going. The last thing she ever need was to get a panic attack.

"Good girl. Where do you leave by the way?" The lady asked curiously.

"I leave not too far from here. A cab will take me home in an hour," Laura explained.

"An hour, that's good enough. What's your name by the way?"

"It's Laura?"

"Wow, what a nice name. You can call me Naomi."

Laura had earlier heard her name from the receptionist

She also has a nice name.

"Okay Laura, I would like to see you first thing in the morning tomorrow Laura. I officially announce to you that as of today, you are hired."

Laura's heart skipped. She still cannot believe that she got a job. So, the lady who told her she was lucky was right.

"Forgive my stunned behaviour ma'am, I wasn't expecting that I will be given a job today in your company."

"I guess luck found you today then." The lady affirmed with a smile on her face.

Indeed, luck found her. It is so unbelievable that she found herself a job. This is the rarest opportunity she's ever gotten.

"Okay, Laura, I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Yes, tomorrow," Laura said with a bright smile.

"Thank you so much, ma'am Naomi, I will do my best to learn from you."

"That's good enough then," Naomi replied.

For some reason, Naomi felt so relaxed that she will be giving Laura the job. She knew she needed to find a professional for the job, but then getting a professional wasn't all there is. It will be hard to find a lady who wouldn't fall for Drake, that is if the person wasn't even having a crush on him from the beginning.

The reason why she chose Laura was because Laura was simple, she could tell and she also was not sure Laura have an idea about who the CEO was.

She had encountered others who came to look for a job. They all seek higher positions even when their certificate doesn't match the position they are aiming for. Some are not even qualified for the job. But they all aimed higher all because they wanted to be close to Alpha Drake.

She had seen a lot of them, ever since she started working in the company. On the other hand, Alpha Drake is very picky. She doubts any lady will ever be good enough for a secretary for him. But if this Laura she choose was smart enough, she will be able to pull through.

She will hate to hear that Laura didn't last simply because she made a mistake or Alpha Drake did not like her.

Though, if it came to that, she will have to talk to Alpha Drake herself.

He needs to give the lady a chance. She will beg him to rather focus on the services she renders, rather than him not liking the new secretary.
