MRS ROSIE IS MYSTERIOUS
LAURA
The changes were imminent. She could run as fast as she wanted. Her sense of smell and hearing also improved. Her vision was shorter than normal as well. She felt as though she was the strongest person in the whole world. What she experienced was something she never imagined she will experience in her entire life.
Last night, after she completed her transformation, she came back home and sneaked into her room, took her shower and went to bed. Laura smiled brightly. Now that she was whole, she believed it was time to go in search of a job. She stare at the time on the wall, it was 7 am.
A perfect time to start the day. She scrambled out of bed and headed to the living room, and to her utmost surprise, she found Mrs Rosie already preparing breakfast.
"Morning Laura, how did you sleep?"
"I slept okay, Mrs Rosie," she replied, with a beam. Laura walked over to the dining to assist Mrs Rosie in preparing breakfast.
Just as she approached the table, she suddenly felt nauseous from the aroma of the meal prepared.
"Laura, are you okay? Mrs Rosie added while staring at her weirdly.
"Yes I'm fine, I just ..." Laura trailed off not knowing what to say at that moment. She took in a deep breath and forced her way to the dining to help Mrs Rosie out just as she had initially planned.
Laura wondered why she suddenly detested the smell of cooked food. It can't be normal for her to feel that way.
"By the way, Laura, did you hear the howl last night?"
Laura suddenly went stiff.
"That howl came from the other neighbourhood. You think there's a werewolf around the area?"
"Huh? Uhm, I guess so?" Laura replied as she quickly continued serving the meal.
When it was time to eat, Laura knew she was in trouble. She can't even bear the stench from the food, talking more of assimilating into her system.
She was sure Mrs Rosie still have no idea about who she was. Mrs Rosie is human, though she seems to know about werewolves. She wondered how she knew about them.
"Laura?" Mrs Rosie called out, thereby snapping her off her wandering thoughts.
"Yes, Mrs Rosie."
"Why aren't you eating your food?" Rosie asked while staring at her intensely.
"I..Uhm, I think I'm not hungry."
"Oh, I see."
Laura couldn't deny the fact that she isn't interested in the food, but then, Mrs Rosie's response made her feel bad. Maybe she should have just eaten the food, and probably spit it out when she gets into her room.
Laura couldn't eat the food, and nor could she leave the dining area. She just sat staring at the food, with no interest. Suddenly, Mrs Rosie grabbed her hands from across the table, causing Laura to gasp in shock. Mrs Rosie looks old but her jolt wasn't that of someone her age.
She raised her head to Mrs Rosie whose eyes were partially closed.
Laura was in a flummoxed state. She wondered what the old lady was trying to find out. It can't be that she was trying to find out her identity. Laura's heart began beating fast. She was scared that the old lady will kick her out if she was to find out about her true identity.
"I think you should go get some fruits. You need a whole lot of them," Mrs Rosie stated, and immediately took her hands off her wrist.
"Huh? Fruits?"
"Yes, fruits," Rosie answered before she continued with her food.
What just happened? How did Mrs Rosie know about her taking fruits?
Laura glanced at Mrs Rosie, wondering what the old lady was all about. She had been living with her for months now, but she stood and cannot tell what Mrs Rosie truly was.
Sometimes she does some mysterious things that made her wonder who Mrs Rosie truly was.
"Uhm, I will be going in search of a job today, Mrs Rosie."
"That again. Sure you will find yourself a job. I thought you gave up already."
Laura heaved a long sigh. She knew Mrs Rosie would say that. But how can she? She needs to make herself useful to the old lady. She can't let her do all the work and the feeding as well when she is the younger one.
"I don't know, but I have a good feeling that I will get a job today.
"You think so? Well, I'd that's the case then I can only wish you Goodluck." Laura smiled brightly.
"Thank you, Mrs Rosie."
"But I have to warn you. Always be careful of the outside world. There are so many bad people out there, you must always be cautious of the people you see. If you can, do not be quick to make friends." Mrs Rosie warned.
"I will keep that in mind always, Mrs Rosie."
After Mrs Rosie was done eating, she helped in clearing and wash the dishes. Since she was still in the process of job hunting, she took her time preparing for her outing.
The last time she went out, she was told she needed to have a CV prepared if she wanted a good job.
She wasn't looking for a high-paying job since she knew it required not just a CV but a certificate as well.
She was on the verge of completing her studies when tragedy struck.
Laura heaved a deep sigh. Now she was nothing but a mere commoner in a strange city. Who was she to seek for a high-paying Job? She will keep on looking for the smaller ones. Like she had said earlier, she has a good feeling she would eventually find a job.
She dressed herself up in a yellow sunflower dress. Her hair was held in a matching hair band, and white shoes. He stared at herself in the mirror and smiled. She was satisfied with the way she was looking. All she needed to do was go out there and get a job.
She quickly picked up her purse which was on her bed and matched out of her room.
