Chapter 178
Chapter 178
Samira
For once, I was the busy body in the throne room before anybody else. I skimmed the world news before general sessions started, having my laptop brought down here along with my wheatgrass protein bars, and my peppermint tea with extra honey and sugar. I already had a cup of coffee; this was for the sweetness.
A few days have passed, about four since I spoke with Diana, and Tyson fixed Eternya’s act of wrath. She was supposed to have the equivalent to their baby shower, except only close family were to attend. She’d asked informally if I wanted to come, but I respectfully declined. I didn’t know anyone who would be there, and I didn’t want anyone to say anything about my child.
As much as I hate to admit it… He’s not flesh yet. Magical creatures and some humans are going to judge him. They will see him like a dog, not a person. Lustros is a person; he just doesn't have his shape yet. He’s also a literal baby… What could someone expect for him, to shift?
He can’t yet, and there’s no rush for it on our part.
And I know myself. I’m not the mare I used to be. If someone insults my baby, I’m going fucking ballistic right then. I don’t care about any pleasantries or ‘how a queen should act’.
I composed myself before anyone so happened to pass by and see though. I don’t want drama created from nothing.
There were no hard feelings, since it was unicorn tradition to stay with our foals in private for the first year or so. And little Lustros slept on a fuzzy bed, on the throne room’s long table next to me. It was quiet with us being the only ones in here. There weren’t even servants to prep the thrones, or place their meals yet.
Gods I was so proud of him! now that he talked, he babbled to no end. He couldn’t form any more words yet, just ‘ma’… but he tried! He would tilt his head and listen when I spoke to him, so I started telling him the old stories.
I told him about the Light side of things, while Tyson is more versed in the Night. My goal as his mother is to teach him that not all people are bad. Some do bad things yes, but it’s not right to judge and hate a whole race for one person. It’s not right to hate them because we are not like them either, and that we can respect each other.
But I won’t sugar coat it either.
Both sides were wrong.
Both did great atrocities, genocides, and did not care who they crushed so long it was not of their charge.
He will hear both side’s wrongs, and triumphs…. And he will also learn one more thing, one I know my mate learned as he dealt with those witches. They are forces of nature no normal person can stop…. They must regulate themselves…
If they decide to maim and kill, it’s the general population that suffers. If they bless and protect, we mortals benefit…. It’s one-sided on this world. Here, we are outmatched and outranked. We can trick, negotiate, and appease, but a normal blade cannot pierce even my mate’s skin, a demigod. It has to be from someone his rank, or higher.
You can’t shoot Xaxas and be done with it. He can expand his fingers, and quite literally make someone explode from the inside out.
But even if their powers weren’t so ridiculous, they still can’t be defeated. Thus, negotiations have brought more peace than any hammer, or attempt to force one’s rights with bloodshed.
There was no footage of what Tyson did to help the fire witches, but the rumors were all over the place. He did help them yes, but he also caused a chain reaction. There was infighting over the position of coven leader, and also issues over Carter Flamebrand and his immediate title snatching.
But that was now in the hands of Queen Xi, Queen of the Witches. I read she was already in favor of keeping Lord Carter in charge, however Lord Eternya was heavily fined for the inconvenience he caused. As an act of goodwill, monetary punitive damages were paid to the witches who remained, so they could rebuild their capital. The agreed upon amount was the cost of the mansion, the medical bills of the survivors, and 5 million dollars was split between the survivors of those who lost loved ones, which weren’t many since he took out a few houses.
I sipped my peppermint tea before it got too cold, adding one more cube of sugar. Honestly, I wanted the sugar, because that works for me more than any caffeine.
Then I read about Diana and Herculian. She won’t have her child for some time, but the tabloids showed them outside her fairy realm, at a Hamberger Royalty. She had on glasses and her hood, trying to cover her face but I could confirm that was her. Her boyfriend made no effort to hide himself from the public no more than we normally do, so it wasn’t that hard to spot them.
I figured that was enough. I logged into the MoonPack System, and I sent a friendly encouraging email. It was generic, because it was getting close to audit season, and I figured if I was going to make a reminder, that it should be encouraging.
So much had as of yet to be done too. We still had to meet Shakira’s grandchildren, and determine if they were worthy of such a newer, higher title. One of them would gain a council number for this, making them the second ever female on the High Council, with the first being Izzy.
They were at least in the country, and had been since day before yesterday. That gave us some time. Everyone from the high Council was here, but the meeting wouldn’t start for another forty minutes or so.
But as I skimmed, I saw both my mate and Jang walking together, chatting casually. Lord Ronitus was not too far behind, but everyone more or less sat in their thrones, and servants followed close behind to get their orders for coffee, or food.
“Evening.” Said Tyson, kissing me on the forehead before sitting next to me.
“Evening.” I said blushing a little.
His casual posture in his suit, and professional demeanor has always set the tone for our council, and today was no different. He had a laptop passed to him when he sat, however there were also papers with him.
\----???----
\[System Command: Attack Mode.\] Ziri zapped me!
“That’s a bad computer.” I grumbled. “That wasn’t cheeky or endearing. Now make a portal home.”
\[q.q\]
“Oh don’t give me that look. Now make a portal home.” I demanded harshly.
She made little buzzing noises, which I must admit…. It did make me feel bad. She was trying to be playful, but I was in a mood. I was greatful Tyson fixed the lads of that coven; they weren’t supposed to be cursed, just a few die.
\[Bad computers do not make portals.\] she said this in my late wives’ voices….
This is my fault… I hurt her feelings.
Wait, she should not have actual feelings. Ziri is artificial.
“Ziri.” I warned. “Delete that code you made.”
\[ò. ó\]
“I’m Sorry.” I complained.
\[Ò. Ó\]
\[You do not mean that.\] she hissed with absolute venom. \[No.\]
That little-
“Awe damn it, people are starting to notice an old man talking to a metal ball. Ziri I don’t want to have to switch to my body.” I complained. If I do, the jig is up as the kids say these days… I think? “I’m sorry….. Please. I would Very much like to keep my anonymity, my Good computer.”
…..\[>.<\]….
“My good sweet little ball of gizmos.” I held her now, and she vibrated in my hands. I petted her, which she was able to truly feel… I must undo this programing, and keep her from ever doing so again.
I cannot lose her too. She is all that is left. If she breaks, I can fix her; she’s a machine….
If she breathes and dies… the only thing I could do is consume her…
\[Fine.\] She said mad at me still, and I didn’t trust that damn portal.
My train of thought is continuously odd today.
It must be the corrections to time.
“My good, reliable computer I am truly sorry.” I let her angrily buzz at me in binary. Whatever. Let her have her tantrum; it’ll be the closest thing to being alive if I can help it. “You are a good computer.” I said going into her settings and manually making a portal home for myself. “Verbal Manual Override.”
\[Command Accepted.\] She said in a female robot voice.
“Convert to factory settings please.” I said clearing my throat. She’s just a little ball of iron and gizmos…
\[Factory Settings Online: Please Select a voice.\]
“The combination of my wives Ziri.” It is the only way I can ever hear them, so it is the only thing I want to hear. I torment my self more than my curse ever could.
\[Please Select a galactic address.\] She said not remembering whatever the fuck she’d done to almost become alive. My true body holds the information to fix her sensors… In my true body, I still could not fix her if she became flesh.
“My farm world.” I said tossing her into the air, and she disappeared before Zuviel noticed anything….
