Chapter 176

Chapter 176
Tyson
That they were out here when they should be off means that I should be making sure they get overtime, or I could be fined. The Lord of Aggression handled their accounts since I don’t live down here, but I inadvertently paid the favor back by sending him fresh souls.
Souls that apparently were valuable, but I’ll check into that later.
“We didn’t start until late sire!” Said Paul.
“Yeah boss, slacking off was my idea.” Said Franklin sheepishly.
“Yeah the one time we clock in late too!” Said Paul, who wasn’t lying.
“What a coincidence then.” I said shaking their wrists. At first, they were surprised that I wasn’t some snob who didn’t want his hands dirty, but I wanted to thank the people responsible for feeding the city. “Thank you for your efforts as well. You’ve been getting paid right?”
“Yes sir.” They both said at the same time.
“Good. I also have some farmhands you’ll be able to utilize.” I pointed at them with my thumb, since they were probably a tad too far away to hear me. “They’re witches; they aren’t strong but they do know magic.”
“That’s fine sire, but we only have the eight-bedroom house! And your house isn’t in question.” Said Franklin.
“I’ll handle it.” I said casually, not actually knowing what to do exactly, not yet…
I can’t just poof, there’s a house, can I?
….There’s no way grandfather would allow it… but … I’d done pretty much whatever I wanted up until this point….
I don’t know a lot of creation magic… but I am Below….
Without saying anything I did the thing Xaxas does, and I waved my hand…. Kaizen and Grace have to try this. As I washed my hand material came into being. It was probably the most egregious act of magic use I've done so far, even including the exodus of over 1000 souls from one layer to another. After all, the only people I'd ever seen do something like this was probably my uncle, being father if he was absolutely motivated to do so. ....
And I Didn't realize how much forethought actually goes into trying to do something like this! It wasn't just that I had to make a place for these people to reside. I also had to think about the floor plan, how many would reside per floor plan, and if I had the space to do so.
I had a little over 1,200 people to house, so I figured converting my magic into units, designed to place 100 souls per floor would probably be best. I made one large, 12 story white wood building that matched the farmhouse, more or less, directly next to the cabin, because I would never live here. And even if I did, I don't think I would mind. The buildings were spaced out enough that I had to create a pathway between both houses and to the road that leads to the city. I made sure that they were good and sturdy, matching the same material as the road so there wasn't any issue between the destinations. While I was at it, the silos in the distance also belonged to me, and I let the trail naturally reach that as well.
Although that was completely unnecessary, it does make their lives real easier especially since I'm not physically here to hear any grievances.
Each unit was a 3 bedroom, 3 bath, with a common area in the form of a large kitchen with two separate ovens and two refrigerators.
Because this was creation magic and instantaneous, I also had to consider the furniture that was inside as well as the placement. All the while I could feel the drain and weight of trying to do something…. that I'm honestly probably not supposed to be able to do, but did anyway.
“Now that you have homes, you will also have my blood.” I said firmly. I wasn’t tired the moment I stopped making furniture. If anything, I felt like I could do more. “Embrace the Master’s gift.”
“What will… my lord forgive me for speaking.” Said Anomie Flamebrand, Elinore’s cousin.
“No, you may speak.” I said softly. “I don’t think I explained… you lot who are with me are young, without a scratch on your young souls.” Indeed, they ranged about 15-19. “You’re going to live here, as my charges, though you will be paid.”
“Paid?” Asked a barrier maiden in training, Shryxie Redbrand.
“You’re innocent, thus, this is Layer One, if you follow the road that way, you’ll end up in Repentance City, but you won’t find work that pays better than the Third General of Hell.” I smiled.
They all spoke among themselves.
Though none would deny the dark gift since the Volcano God is their protector no longer, they all were still unsure about the situation they were presented with. On one hand, they could technically go to the city, and they would find a job. There is freedom in finding work for oneself, to find oneself in this new, eternally into his world. The opportunity and the ability to make money is as ample as Repentance is half of a never-ending land. But there was also the risk of making less money, and dealing with living in such an enormous city. It isn’t cramped, nor congested since it is ever growing, but it would be akin to what they left I suspect.
However, I did not lie.
Here they had somewhere that was already guaranteed. Here they would be homed, and already on payroll. They already had a place to receive mail for their new identification, as previously before they wouldn't have had any since they weren't citizens... I was never one to leave debts upon anyone yet alone essentially refugees from cleaning up Eternya’s fucking mess. Under my direct supervision and the conversion, their lives were planned out, and convenient.
The mortals now filed in line, and were converted to Dark Witches. One day, if grandfather sees fit, he may have them born into one coven or another. But for now, they were mine to use. Each one who drank from my right wrist, I had my phone out and registered their soul as an employee with my left hand.
Gods I love being down here sometimes. No regulations, no permits, just a wolf and a dream.
The black sun came up when everyone was entering into my phone, but since this wasn’t one from Below, I’d have to pop by administration in grandfather’s castle to convert it to a scroll, and present it. Then they could receive their ID’s, and get paid.
I was grateful to the Layer Lords, and the directory for them was so easy to find since I am a general. If I weren’t this could have taken years, not a few hours.
Well, it’s still going to take a few hours to get my gold converted to Urth currency, find out the value of my soul sifting, and buy a phone from here so I can download apps to manage my employees. I also need to buy one more farm. I have so many witches at my disposal, pretty much a small coven. They could grow magical herbs and it’ll fund having so many so soon.
