Chapter 87 The Right Choice

Chapter 87 The Right Choice
Quinn’s POV

“Frost Maple won again. Can you congratulate Grayson for me?” Dylan asked. He was on the phone with me right now.

Meanwhile, I was waiting for Grayson to come out of the locker room.

Grayson said that after this, he would take me to visit his mother. He also explained why he wanted to take me to meet his mother right away. It was because there were only two games next week and he would be less busy than the following weeks, which could have four to five games a week.

I couldn't refuse. I also didn't want to tire Grayson out if I postponed it to a busier week.

"Yeah, I'll tell him," I finally replied to Dylan.

"Oh well, as a gift, I'll cook for you guys. You'll be back here tomorrow, right?"

"Umm, sorry Dylan, but Grayson and I might not be able to come back tomorrow."

"Why? Do you have other plans?"

I played with my fingers that weren't holding my phone. "It's a personal matter. Actually, we’re keeping it a secret from everyone else, but I’ll tell you because you’re my brother.”

“Are you guys going on vacation together?”

“No,” I replied quickly. I then took a deep breath. “Grayson is gonna introduce me to his mother. So after this, we’ll go straight there and maybe stay there for the night.”

“You’re gonna meet his mother? Are you serious, Quinn? Are you ready? I mean, this is his mother, his parents. Is your relationship with him really that serious?”

I shook my head even though Dylan couldn't see me at the moment. “Ready or not, I have to be brave. Whether it's now or later, I still have to meet her. Besides, Grayson is there, so I shouldn't have to worry, right?”

But that was a lie. To be honest, I was extremely nervous and worried.

"And about our relationship, I think Grayson is very serious this time."

Dylan sighed. "I didn't ask about Grayson because he must be ready since he wants to take you to his house. I'm asking about you. Are you ready to be in a serious relationship again?"

"I..." I looked around, where it was quiet. If asked that question, my answer was actually 50-50. Fifty percent ready and the other half not ready.

I didn't blame Dylan for asking that question. I was sure he asked because he didn't want me to fall for the wrong guy again after seeing my track record with Owen.

I trust Grayson and agree to get to know his family because Grayson has explained and cleared up all the misunderstandings. So now everything is clear and clean. And all that's left is trust.

"It's best if you think about this again with a cool head, Quinn. It's not that you're deciding carelessly, but usually when someone is in love, they tend to ignore their logic. I'm just afraid that the chances are smaller than you hope."

"I've thought it through, Dylan. And, yeah, I'm ready. I'm ready to start a new relationship with a man. I've left my past with Owen behind. And I believe that not all men are jerks like him. That's why I have to give Grayson a chance to prove it," I continued.

"Quinn, I don't wanna make you more nervous, but I'm just reminding you that they don't like human like us."

"Who are you talking about?"

"Grayson’s family."

I immediately covered the speaker of my phone with my hand to lower the volume. "How do you know that, Dylan?"

"Actually, after I decided to idolize Frost Maple, I looked into Grayson too. And I found a news article stating that the Talon family, Grayson's family, strongly supports all their family members marrying other werewolves. That's why I'm confirming with you once again. Are you ready for that?"

I couldn't change that suddenly either. After all, it's fate, not something that can be requested by someone. So the answer is, even though I'm human, because I love Grayson, I’ll be ready to meet his parents.

"I'm fucking ready. I’ll also explain the truth about who I am and how our families are. After all, there's no point in hiding it because sooner or later it will be revealed anyway. So it's better for Grayson's parents to hear it from me than from someone else."

After that, I didn't hear Dylan's voice for a long time, so I thought he had hung up. But when I looked at my phone, the call was still connected.

"You don't like it if I take my relationship with Grayson seriously?" I asked carefully.

"Even though I'm your brother, it's not my place to give permission. It's your relationship with Grayson. I'll just support you and remind you. That's my job."

"Ah, I'm so touched. You've really grown up."

Dylan laughed heartily on the other side. "I've just learned a lot from you and the people around me. All right then, if you're happy and very confident that you can pass the test of your relationship, then I will also support you."

I wiped the corner of my eye. "Thank you, Dylan."

"Don't thank me. It's my duty to support you, just as you have taken care of me all this time."

"But are you really okay there by yourself?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. No need to worry about me. Just focus on your event. I'll be here praying that everything goes smoothly and Grayson’s mother responds well."

I smiled even though Dylan couldn't see me. "Right, pray for me. I'll do my best not to embarrass myself and Grayson."

"Of course you won't embarrass yourself. You're always great. I'm sure you can do it well this time too."

Oh, nothing was more reassuring than hearing Dylan say that. Because he was my cheerleader and my only family. So I really needed him to reassure me.

"Okay, don't forget to eat and get enough rest," I said.

"Okay, my chatty sister."

I was about to lecture Dylan, but at that moment, the locker room door opened and Grayson came out. He waved his hand and ran towards me.

"Grayson is here. I'm ending the call, okay. Good night, my handsome little brother."

"Good night, my beautiful sister."

And the call ended when Grayson arrived in front of me.

"Who was that?"

I put my phone in my bag. "Dylan."

"Did you tell him that we won't be coming home today or tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I explained it to him."

"How did he respond?"

"He's supportive."

Grayson suddenly jumped up and down and screamed silently.

I immediately pulled his hand to stop him. "Shhh, someone will see you and think you're crazy."

"If it's crazy to love you, then it's okay."

I could only shake my head. It seemed like my choice was indeed the right one.
