Chapter 7 CHAPTER 7: Terms

Chapter 7 CHAPTER 7: Terms
Andy's POV

She was feeling more than she was supposed to, and everything about that was wrong. She was powerless, and she was right. She was tested before she was let into the school. I didn't even know how she managed to get an admission. But there she was.

Kae huffed, and Lucif looked at him with contempt. “Can you just stop?” He snapped, and Kae looked over at him with equal contempt.

We all hated each other. I was shocked that we were going to be able to stand together in the same place that wasn't class.

Either way, Elizabeth was the reason why we were standing together. We were all looking for her. So sheust mean something to us, right?

I heaved a sigh of relief when we didn't hear the footsteps anymore, and we managed to follow the back door to the medical room.

Lucif pushed the door open with his magic, and the matron had her hands on her waist as she saw us. Then her eyes trailed down to who Lucif and I were holding.

She hurried to where we were standing immediately.

“Isn't she the powerless girl?” She asked immediately, and Lucif cocked an eyebrow.

“She's that popular, huh?” He asked. The matron shot him a look that made him shut up.

“What happened to her?” She asked, and the three of us looked at each other. There was no way we were going to tell her that someone had tried to summon something through her. Because I was sure as hell that Elizabeth wouldn't have been able to find her way there by herself.

Something must have been done. And someone must have taken her there.

“We just found her in the hallway. She collapsed, and she was white.”

“Put her on the bed,” the matron ordered, and we did just that, before stepping away. She looked specifically at Lucif.

“You didn't use any of your powers, did you?” she asked, and he rolled his eyes.

“She was panicking. Kae was the one who put her to sleep.”

Of course, she didn't go ahead to look at Kae. He was the innocent one that could never really do any harm.

“This is wrong. But the three of you can leave. I'll handle her.”

I knew that there was no way I was leaving her there.

I didn't even like variables, and Elizabeth Siege had become one.

I was the first one to leave the room. I stood outside, with my hands folded in front of me. My gaze was fixed on nothing, and everything at once.

The moment she woke up, I could feel it. There was something about it that was more than weird. It was almost like she was all three of us at once.

But that wasn't possible. The school hadn't seen a tribrid in years. And I couldn't trust Kae’s words. He lied when it wasn't even necessary. And it was about the same girl. There was no way I was trusting the words coming out of his mouth.

When she woke up the first time, I could feel the surge within her. The power that was hard to ignore.

Behind me, Kae paced around the hallway like a caged animal. If anybody was to pass, we looked like expectant fathers.

“We can't just stand here,” he said, and I turned to fully look at him.

“We can, and we will. Until we can fully decide what she actually is.”

“I already told you what I felt,” Kae snapped. “It wasn't just power. It wasn't just magic. It was-”

“Unknown,” Lucif said, cutting him short. “Which is one of the things that makes her more dangerous than anything.”

I exhaled slowly. At least we were on the same page about that.

Dangerous wasn't the problem. Uncontrolled was.

And if anyone saw her in the circle, then it was going to cause even more issues. I saw how she was broken ayer going to see the council. And if that happened again, she was going to either be expelled, or left in the school like some sort of specimen, while other lecturers watched her.

I didn't like her much, but I didn't want that to happen to her.

“If anyone saw that happened to her, then the school won't be arguing about rumors anymore,” I said, looking at the other two men. “They'll be arguing about containment.”

Kae and Lucif looked up at me. “So what are you suggesting?” Kae asked. “That we lie?”

“Yes,” I answered without hesitation.

“And then what do we tell her?” Lucif asked. “I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw how inquisitive she actually is.”

My jaw tightened. Elizabeth isn't stupid.

“She already knows something is wrong,” Kae said, mirroring my thoughts.

“But she only knows she's different,” I said. “She doesn't know what she is yet.”

“And you think that distinction will hold?” He asked, sharpening his gaze.

I ran a hand through my hair. This was the last thing I thought I'd be discussing this semester.

“If she finds out the wrong way, we lose control of the situation immediately,” I said, as I tried to form a plan in my head.

Kae suddenly scoffed. “That's what this is to you?” He asked. “Control?”

The three of us immediately went silent as the matron walked past us. Suddenly we heard something crash inside the room, making the three of us go still.

She's awake. I didn't know what I was doing as I reached out for the door handle, pushing it open.

Elizabeth was on her feet, breathing hard with her eyes wide. Her hands were balled into fists at her sides.

“You lied to me,” she snapped, and I narrowed my eyes at her.

“Not yet,” I answered, only making her let out a hollow laugh.

“That's comforting,” she said in a mocking way, and Kae took a step forward.

“Elizabeth,” he said, and her eyes snapped in his direction, in a way that was faster than normal.

“Don't,” she snapped. “Don't call my name like we're on the same side.”
