Chapter 15 CHAPTER 15: The Enemy Within

Chapter 15 CHAPTER 15: The Enemy Within
Lucif's POV

Elizabeth Siege was moving faster than I expected her to. After showing her everything that she needed to know I'm that book, she was acting based on her emotions.

And I wasn't going to be the one to teach her how to keep her emotions at bay. But the thought of teaching her interested me.

“I don't even know how she managed to manipulate the school system,” another voice asked for what seemed to be the umpteenth time.

But at the same time, the person wasn't wrong. Every single time that my ears cooked up on that question, even I was asking myself questions..

How did she fucking manage to get it done? But then, she didn't look like she would even dare to do something like that.

If her family sent her here because they thought she was special, they would have sent an application to the school by themselves. But they didn't do anything of that sort. In fact, the school didn't even receive applications to begin with. It had to be selected students.

There was one powerless one every year. One that acted as nothing less than a football for the other powerful kids to kick. And maybe the students thought that they could do the same thing with Elizabeth. A part of me was glad that she was showing them something else.

That did nothing to change the fact that the system was breached.

“Maybe you guys should just shut up and talk about something else,” I said loud enough for everyone to hear. They didn't even hesitate to switch to the latest football game happening.

Better.

But even that didn't help me focus on something else. I was still fixated on what was happening the whole time. The new person at school. The new energy that I could feel through the school walls.

Everyone was watching her.

Waiting for her to make some kind of mistake. And I was scared that it wasn't even going to take her a long time to make one.

I got to my feet immediately, and I could feel all eyes on me as soon as I left the room.

I ended up right in front of the security office, and I pushed the door open. The guard was sipping on juice, and eating chips.

Of course, I expected it. That's what they usually did. They were just good at hiding it, and I caught this one right in the act.

“King Lucif,” he said and I have him s small smile, before chanting one of my spells. He fell asleep immediately, and I fully walked into the office, pushing his stupid chair away.

I grabbed one of the spare ones, sitting in front of the table, and cracking my knuckles as I got to work.

I tapped away on the keyboards, as I hacked the school's screening system. It took me just five seconds to guess the password.

And it was the fucking name of the school. When were these institutions going to make the right decisions and hire a better security system?

The codes were sitting right in front of me, and I scrolled down to the day when Elizabeth was put in the school. The exact day and time when she was screened.

I had barely even looked properly when I spotted the little change in codes. The little disabling that happened.

What the hell?

Who would want to do something like that?

I went ahead to check who had logged into the system from outside, but there was absolutely nothing.

I sat up without a second thought. The person came from the inside?

I went ahead to check who had logged in , but even the chances of that were almost impossible. The security wouldn't just allow anybody to use their laptops. Except the person managed to use magic somehow. And that was unlikely. The other students were too weak.

Was there someone else that was slowly and secretly harnessing power? The chances were unlikely.

I went ahead, searching. Typing codes and converting. Even the person's name was written in codes.

I couldn't help but smirk. I liked this person already. I converted the names back to normal English, and the name was sitting right in front of me in seconds.

I didn't regret paying attention in coding classes. Just look at how it paid off.

Marian Siege.

That was… surprising.

I knew who she was. The same person that Elizabeth was her sister. The same one that she accused of actually sending those texts. The same texts that made Andy act like the jerk that he was.

I wanted to sit this Marian down and ask her how she did it. She was just a visitor. So how did she manage to get all the lower to alternate the codes? Maybe she was just stealth enough. I liked it for her.

She was a stepsister with access.

But then, the timing was perfect. Perfect for Elizabeth's rise.

And she could only have even gotten the visitor tag except from someone on the inside.

Someone who had orchestrated the whole thing. But who was going to stoop so low to do something like that. A professor? Or one of the bigger bodies?

It didn't matter what rank the person had. But I did know one thing. This person had something to gain if Elizabeth was exposed.

And now, she was exposed already. The whole school has seen her react. They just didn't know what it was.

And I knew that it wasn't going to be too long before the council called for her. She had better be good at lying. Telling them the truth was only going to make them involve the elders. Involving the elders was only going to make her nothing less than a specimen. Containment, and cameras.

That was what she was going to go through.

Marian wasn't working alone. And that brought a small smile to my lips. For some reason, there was a voice in my head that was asking me to protect Elizabeth.

Of course, I was going to protect her as much as I could. I had already seen what this school did to people that were special. They tried to put an end to them, and I couldn't push away the thought that Marian knew just that.

Apart from protecting Elizabeth, I knew that I also had to find the person that wanted to shape Elizabeth. And the person's reason for wanting to do it.

Most importantly, why the person had to involve a willing family member.
