Chapter 9 Chapter 9
Sable POV
Immediately the creature stand between us,the silver bullet struck its shoulder instead and it roared in pain.
My chest tightened painfully.
For some reason, seeing it hurt made something inside me snap.
Like I would rather be hurt than seeing it get hurt and didn't know why.
The pressure inside me exploded outward as a powerful wave of energy passed through the courtyard.
The wind howled violently.
Every wolf nearby reacted instantly.
Some dropped to their knees.
Others lowered their heads.
Even Leonidas staggered slightly.
My eyes widened in horror.
"I didn’t mean to do that!"
Zander watched me with fascinated curiosity.
"The Omega command", he murmured.
"What command?!" I shouted.
But before he could answer—
The rogue wolf suddenly stopped fighting.
It stepped away from the hunters slowly. Then it turned toward me again.
Its golden eyes softened slightly.
And slowly...
The massive creature lowered itself to the ground.
To say I was shocked would be an understatement.
It laid down completely in submission.
The courtyard fell silent.
Even the hunters looked stunned.
My voice trembled.
"Why is it doing that?"
Zander smiled faintly.
"Because it recognizes its queen".
Queen?
The word made my stomach twist.
"I’m not anyone’s queen!"
But the hunters were watching me now with renewed interest.
Their leader spoke into his communicator again.
"We’ve confirmed it".
My heart pounded.
"Confirmed what?"
The man lowered his weapon slowly.
"That she’s the one".
Cold dread filled my chest.
Before anyone could react,a thick cloud of dark smoke suddenly exploded around the hunters.
"What the—?"
The smoke spread quickly across the courtyard.
Visibility dropped instantly.
Students screamed in confusion.
Leonidas grabbed my arm.
"Stay close to me!"
But the smoke was too thick.
I couldn’t see anything.
Footsteps echoed around us.
Shouting.
Running.
Then suddenly, a strong hands grabbed my arm from behind.
My heart nearly stopped.
"Got her!"
"No!", I cried.
Leonidas’ furious roar echoed somewhere in the smoke.
"SABLE!"
I struggled desperately.
But whoever was holding me was too strong.
The smoke began to clear slowly.
My eyes widened in horror as I saw where I was.
I was standing in the middle of the hunters.
Their leader held my arm tightly.
His eyes gleamed with triumph.
"Well", he said calmly.
"That was easier than expected".
My heart pounded wildly.
Leonidas burst through the clearing smoke several feet away, his expression murderous.
"Let her go".
The hunter smiled coldly.
"I don’t think so".
Then he pulled a small device from his belt.
"And if you take one more step....".
He pressed the button.
A sharp electric shock shot through my body.
Pain exploded through my chest.
I screamed.
Leonidas froze instantly.
The hunter’s smile widened.
"That’s better".
My vision blurred from the pain.
Everything felt wrong.
The power inside me surged wildly again.
Unstable.
Out of control.
And suddenly—
The rogue wolf behind Leonidas lifted its head and howled.
But this time.....
Dozens of answering howls echoed back from the forest.
The sound was deafening.
It rolled through the trees like thunder, one howl after another, each one closer than the last. The air in the courtyard grew heavy with tension as everyone realized the same terrifying thing that we weren’t alone anymore.
The hunters stiffened instantly. Their leader’s grip on my arm tightened.
"What the hell is that?", one of the hunters muttered.
Another voice answered from behind him.
"Those are wolves".
But not just any wolves.
Even I could hear the difference.
These howls were deeper, fiercer and angrier than normal wolves. And they were coming straight for us.
Leonidas’ glowing eyes lifted toward the forest. His entire body had gone rigid, his wolf practically vibrating with aggression.
"They’re responding to her", he growled.
My heart pounded wildly.
Responding to me?
How is that possible.
"I didn’t call anyone!", I said quickly.
The hunter holding me laughed coldly.
"You didn’t need to".
He pressed the device in his hand again. Pain exploded through my body.
A sharp electric shock shot through my chest, forcing a scream from my throat. My knees buckled, but the hunter’s grip kept me upright.
"Stop!", Leonidas roared.
The hunter smirked.
"Take another step and she gets it again".
Leonidas froze.
The fury in his eyes was terrifying. But he didn’t move.
My breathing became ragged as the pain slowly faded, leaving my body trembling.
Inside my chest, the strange power churned violently.
The rogue wolf suddenly growled. A deep, furious sound that echoed across the courtyard.
The hunters turned toward the sound just as the trees at the edge of the forest began to shake, while the leaves scattered across the ground.
Then the first wolf emerged.
It was huge.
Almost as large as the rogue wolf already standing in the courtyard.
Dark gray fur rippled across its powerful body as it stepped out of the forest slowly, its golden eyes fixed on the hunters surrounding me.
Another wolf appeared behind it.
Then another.
Then another.
Within seconds, more than a dozen wolves had stepped out of the forest.
Gasps spread through the remaining students watching from a distance.
Even the hunters looked uneasy now.
"This wasn’t part of the operation", one of them whispered.
The wolves didn’t attack immediately.
They formed a wide circle around the courtyard.
Around the hunters.
Around me.
My heart raced faster.
Why were they here?
The rogue wolf near Leonidas stepped forward again.
Its golden eyes never left me.
Then, slowly.....
It lowered its head.
The other wolves followed.
One by one.
Every wolf in the hallway bowed their heads slightly toward me.
Shock rippled through the courtyard.
"What the hell...", one hunter breathed.
Zander let out a quiet laugh.
"Well, that’s new".
My voice trembled.
"Why are they doing that?"
Zander glanced at me.
"Because they recognize power when they see it".
"I don’t have any power!"
He raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
The hunter holding me tightened his grip again.
"Enough games.
He pulled me slightly closer to him, using my body as a shield as he faced the wolves.
"Everyone stay back!" he shouted
The wolves didn’t move.
They simply stared at him.
Waiting.
Leonidas’ voice cut through the tension.
"Let her go".
The hunter smirked.
"You’re in no position to make demands, Alpha".
Leonidas’ injured shoulder was still bleeding slowly, but he didn’t seem to care.
His wolf was dangerously close to the surface now.
His claws had partially extended.
His eyes glowed brighter.
"You’re making a mistake", Leonidas said coldly.
The hunter chuckled.
"I don’t think so".
He lifted the device again.
My stomach dropped.
"No–"
He pressed the button.
Pain surged through me again.
But this time....
Something different happened.
The power inside my chest exploded outward violently.
A powerful wave of energy rippled through the courtyard.
The ground shook.
The hunter holding me gasped as the device in his hand sparked violently.
Then it shattered.
The broken pieces fell from his fingers.
Everyone froze.
Even me.
"What....?" the hunter muttered.
I stared down at the destroyed device in disbelief.
The wolves reacted instantly.
Several of them stepped forward, their growls low and threatening even the hunter holding me suddenly looked much less confident.
"Well", Zander said lightly, "that’s unfortunate".
Leonidas moved.
Faster than anyone could react. He slammed into the hunter holding me, sending both of us stumbling backward. I fell to the ground as Leonidas grabbed the man by the throat and slammed him against the pavement.
The other hunters reacted immediately. Gunshots exploded through the courtyard. Silver bullets tore through the air.
The wolves attacked.
Chaos erupted again.
The rogue wolf lunged at one of the hunters, knocking him to the ground with terrifying force.
Another wolf tackled a hunter from behind.
The courtyard turned into a battlefield.
I struggled to my feet, my heart racing wildly.
Leonidas grabbed my arm.
“Stay close to me”.
His voice was rough with anger.
I nodded weakly.
Around us, wolves and hunters clashed violently.
Silver weapons flashed.
Growls and screams filled the air.
Zander moved like a shadow through the chaos, effortlessly avoiding attacks while disarming hunters with frightening precision.
But the power inside me wasn’t calming down.
If anything, it was getting stronger.
The wolves felt it too.
Several of them glanced at me between attacks.
