Chapter 114 Chapter 114

Chapter 114 Chapter 114
The First Witness

Eden's POV

No.

Not this.

Anything but this.

For thousands of years, I had stood beside kings, watched empires rise and fall, buried friends, comforted strangers, and carried the Creator's promises through generations.

I believed I had made peace with the past.

I was wrong.

The Void Judge stood before me without moving.

Its silver eyes reflected not my face but my memories.

Its voice echoed gently.

"First Witness..."

"What have you hidden?"

The question pierced deeper than any blade.

I closed my eyes.

"I already know."

Sable's POV

I had never seen Eden afraid.

He had always smiled.

Always laughed.

Always believed.

Even when everything seemed impossible.

Yet now...

His hands trembled.

I stepped forward.

"Eden..."

Lucian raised an arm, stopping me.

"You can't."

"Why?"

"This is one trial no one can share."

The Battlefield

Darkness surrounded Eden and the world disappeared around him.

The Heart of Creation continued beating steadily.

THUMP.

THUMP.

With each heartbeat...

Another forgotten memory awakened.

Eden's Trial

The endless white plain stretched beyond the horizon.

Someone was standing there.

A little boy.

No older than eight with golden hair and bright eyes.

He looked exactly like Eden.

The child smiled.

"You finally came."

Eden's voice cracked.

"I remember you."

The boy nodded.

"You should."

"I'm the last part of you that still believes you can be forgiven."

Leonidas' POV

"What is happening?"

Lucian didn't take his eyes off Eden.

"The First Witness has never been judged before."

"Why?"

"Because no one remained alive who could judge him."

Aster answered quietly.

"Until now."

Moros' POV

Eden...

My oldest friend.

When everyone else feared me....

He still spoke to me.

When I fell into darkness...

He still searched for me.

How could someone like him carry guilt?

Inside the Trial

The little boy held out his hand.

"Come."

Eden followed.

The white plain transformed as a beautiful valley appeared.

The very first sunrise.

The very first river.

The very first tree.

Everything was new.

Everything was untouched.

The Creator walked through the valley.

Not surrounded by glory but was simply walking.

Laughing.

Speaking with Eden.

The memory hurt.

Not because it was sad.

Because it was beautiful.

The Creator

"You're quiet today."

Young Eden looked down.

"I have a question."

"You always do."

The Creator laughed softly.

"If people are free..."

"They'll hurt each other."

"Yes."

"Then why make them free?"

The Creator knelt before him.

"Because love without freedom..."

"...is only obedience."

The memory froze.

The Void Judge appeared beside them..

It looked at Eden.

"You remember."

"I do."

"Then tell the truth."

Eden's POV

"I disobeyed."

The words echoed across the memory.

"I wanted to protect them."

"I thought..."

"...if I changed one small thing..."

"...I could prevent the First War."

The little boy lowered his head.

"You believed you knew better."

I nodded.

"I interfered."

"I changed a single choice."

"And that single choice..."

"...became the first crack in history."

Outside the Trial, Lucian's eyes widened.

"So that's why..."

Aster whispered,

"It wasn't Moros."

"The First Fracture..."

"...began with Eden."

Sable's POV

"What?"

The words escaped before I could stop them.

Eden?

Impossible.

He had devoted his entire existence to protecting the world.

The Judge's voice echoed again.

"Do you regret it?"

Eden smiled sadly.

"Every day."

"Would you change it?"

He looked toward the memory of the Creator then toward the child and finally...

He answered.

"No."

Everyone gasped.

The Judge remained silent.

Eden continued.

"I regret my pride."

"I regret believing I knew better."

"But if I erased that mistake, I would erase every lesson it taught me."

"I became who I am because I failed."

"I will never celebrate my failure."

"But I refuse to deny it."

The little boy smiled.

The first genuine smile Eden had seen in thousands of years.

"You finally told yourself the truth."

The child's body dissolved into golden light.

The Void Judge slowly lowered its head and like the other, a deep crack spread across its armor.

Then another.

Then another.

Until the Judge shattered into countless stars.

Outside the Trial Eden's eyes opened.

For the first time since the beginning of time, they were no longer carrying hidden sorrow.

They were at peace.

He smiled at Sable.

A real smile.

Not one hiding pain.

One born from healing.

The ground beneath the battlefield shook violently.

Caelum looked toward the Devourer. His calm expression finally changed.

Something was awakening inside the darkness itself.

Caelum's POV

No...

That wasn't supposed to happen.

I looked toward the Devourer as waves of darkness rolled across its colossal body.

The Void Judges were never meant to lose.

Not because they were

stronger than the heroes.

Because no one had ever answered them with complete honesty.

Yet one after another the Judges were falling.

Moros had accepted his guilt.

Sable had refused despair.

Eden had embraced his failure instead of hiding from it.

Something was changing.

The Devourer felt it too because its endless darkness began to ripple like a stormy sea.

The Devourer's POV

Hope evolves.

Unexpected.

The equations no longer balance.

Correction is required.

Lucian's POV

The sky cracked again.

But this time it wasn't breaking outward.

It was breaking inward.

The darkness around the Devourer folded into itself, forming a massive spiral.

Every star above Elysium dimmed while the air became unbearably heavy.

I had seen this once before.

Long ago.

During the First Sundering.

My voice came out as little more than a whisper.

"It's waking..."

Aster looked at me, his face drained of color.

"The Hollow Heart."

Leonidas' POV

"The Hollow Heart?"

No one answered immediately.

Instead, Eden stepped forward.

His smile was gone.

"It is the only thing even the Devourer fears."

I frowned.

"How can darkness fear anything?"

Eden looked toward the swirling void.

"Because the Hollow Heart..."

"...doesn't destroy rather it replaces."

Sable's POV

The words sent a chill through me.

"What does it replace?"

Eden's eyes met mine.

"You."

Silence.

"It steals everything that makes you who you are."

"Your memories."

"Your love."

"Your dreams."

"Until all that's left..."

"...is an empty shell."

I instinctively touched my chest.

The Dawn Flame burned brightly but for the first time also, it flickered.

The Creator's Voice

"My children."

The gentle voice spread across the battlefield.

"Remember this."

"The opposite of love is not hatred.

"It is emptiness."

Every warrior tightened their grip on their weapon.

Every civilian held someone they loved a little closer.

The King's POV

The remaining Void Judges stepped back.

In obedience.

They bowed toward the growing spiral then dissolved into streams of shadow, returning to the darkness from which they had come.

Caelum watched silently.

His silver eyes reflected something I had not expected.

Concern.

Moros' POV

I walked to his side.

"You didn't expect this."

He didn't deny it.

"No."

"What is happening?"

His gaze remained fixed on the spiral.

"I believed I could guide the Devourer."

A bitter smile crossed his face.

"I forgot..."

"...that no one guides oblivion forever."

The darkness surged violently.

For the first time, it ignored Caelum's commands.

Caelum's POV

I had made a terrible mistake.

I thought I could stand beside the abyss without becoming part of it.

I thought I could direct its hunger toward what I believed was necessary.

Instead it had been waiting.

Waiting for the moment I became unnecessary.

The Devourer's voice echoed within the darkness.

"Purpose fulfilled."

I slowly looked up.

"What?"

"You taught them doubt."

"You tested hope."

"You are no longer required."

The shadows beneath my feet wrapped around my legs.

I tried to step back but they didn't let me.

For the first time in countless ages deep fear entered my heart.

Sable's POV

"Caelum!"

Without thinking, I ran toward him.

Leonidas shouted behind me.

"Sable, wait!"

The shadows climbed higher around Caelum's body.

He struggled against them, but every movement only pulled him deeper.

He looked at me and I saw that the calm philosopher was gone.

In his place stood a frightened man.

"I was wrong."

The words barely escaped his lips.

"I thought I could save them without trusting them."

His silver eyes filled with tears.

"I'm sorry."

The Creator's Voice

"You can still choose."

The light reached toward Caelum.

"So can you."

For a long moment Caelum stared at the outstretched light then he laughed softly through his tears.

"I've spent ages telling others to choose."

"Perhaps it's finally my turn."

He reached toward the Creator's light and the instant his fingers touched it the darkness screamed.

A sound so terrible that mountains split apart and oceans rose in the distance.

The Devourer had not merely lost a servant.

It had lost the one being who understood both light and darkness.

The Final Scene

The spiral above the battlefield suddenly exploded.

Downward.

A pillar of black fire crashed into the earth making the ground shattered for miles.

When the smoke cleared a single figure stood in the center of the crater.

It was humanoid.

Its body was forged from living shadow.

Its chest was hollow, revealing an endless void where a heart should have been.

Its eyes were completely empty.

No anger.

No hatred.

Nothing.

Lucian's voice trembled.

"The Hollow King..."

Aster slowly drew his ancient blade.

"So the Devourer has finally sent its true champion."

The Hollow King lifted its head then it spoke.

Not to Sable.

Not to the Creator.

Not even to Caelum.

It looked directly at Leonidas. And whispered,

"Brother..."

Leonidas's face drained of all color.

"What... did you just call me?"

Leonidas' POV

"...Brother?"

The word echoed across the battlefield.

I stared at the Hollow King.

"No."

My voice was barely a whisper.

"You are mistaken."

The Hollow King didn't movets empty eyes remained fixed on me.

"I do not make mistakes."

Its voice was hollow, as though countless people were speaking at once.

"You have forgotten."

A sharp pain exploded inside my head.

I dropped to one knee as different fragments flashed before my eyes.

A child laughing.

Two boys racing through endless fields of silver grass.

A promise made beneath a sky filled with three moons.

Then all of a sudden darkness swallowed the memories before I could see more.

I gasped.

"What... was that?"

Sable's POV

"Leonidas!"

I rushed to his side and caught him before he fell completely.

His body trembled violently, his golden wolf aura flickered and his eyes weren't focused.

It was as though he was seeing another world entirely.

Lucian hurried over.

"What happened?"

Leonidas clutched his head.

"I saw..."

He struggled to breathe.

"I saw someone."

"A boy."

"He looked just like me."

Silence.

Every face turned toward the Hollow King.

Lucian's POV

Impossible.

Absolutely impossible.

The Creator had sealed that history.

No one should remember.

Not even me.

Unless the Hollow King wasn't creating memories it was uncovering them.

Aster looked at me.

"You remember now, don't you?"

I closed my eyes.

"...Yes."

The King's POV

"What are you two talking about?"

Lucian hesitated.

For thousands of years, we had protected this secret.

Not because it was shameful.

Because it was dangerous.

Finally, he spoke.

"Before Leonidas was born..."

"There was another child."

The battlefield fell silent.

"A child created from the First Flame."

"The first guardian of hope."

Sable frowned.

"But Leonidas is the first guardian."

Lucian slowly shook his head.

"No."

"He is..."

"...the second."

Moros' POV

The memory struck me like lightning.

The Hall of Origins.

Two young boys training together.

One fearless.

One compassionate.

They laughed.

They fought.

They dreamed.

Then one suddenly disappeared and we were told never to speak of him again.

I whispered his forgotten name.

"Lorian..."

The Hollow King's POV

At last.

Someone remembers.

The name echoed through eternity.

Lorian.

The name I had carried before the darkness hollowed me.

The name the world buried to protect itself.

The name my brother forgot.

Leonidas' POV

Lorian.

The moment I heard it something shattered inside me.

More memories returned.

We weren't born of the same parents.

We weren't brothers by blood but were brothers by choice.

Raised together beneath the World Tree.

Trained by Lucian.

Taught by Aster.

Protected by Eden.

I remembered chasing butterflies with him.

Laughing.

Arguing over who would become the stronger guardian.

Then the memory changed.

The Devourer attacked and darkness poured from the broken heavens.

Lorian pushed me away.

"No!"

I reached for him.

He smiled.

"Protect them."

The darkness swallowed him while I screamed his name.

Everything went black.

Sable's POV

Tears filled Leonidas' eyes.

He wasn't crying from fear.

He was grieving someone he had only just remembered losing.

I wrapped my arms around him.

He whispered one word.

"Lorian..."

The Hollow King took one slow step forward.

"I waited."

Another step.

"I remembered."

Another.

"You forgot."

There was no anger in his voice.

Only unbearable sadness.

The Creator's Voice

"My son..."

The gentle voice spread across the battlefield.

The Hollow King froze.

"I never forgot you."

For a while the empty eyes flickered.

Just once.

A tiny spark of silver appeared within the darkness.

Then disappeared.

Caelum's POV

No...

That wasn't possible.

The Hollow King was supposed to be beyond redemption.

Beyond memory.

Beyond feeling.

Yet when the Creator called him my son the darkness around him trembled.

Hope had reached even here.

Aster's POV

I finally understood.

This was never the Devourer's greatest weapon.

It was its greatest prisoner.

Lorian hadn't become the Hollow King willingly.

He had been taken.

Broken.

Emptied.

Yet somewhere deep beneath the darkness the child who once laughed beneath the World Tree still remained.

The Final Scene

The Devourer's roar thundered across existence.

The darkness surrounding Lorian tightened violently.

Black chains erupted from the void and wrapped around his body.

His face twisted in agony and the spark of silver vanished.

The Hollow King looked at Leonidas one last time.

His voice cracked and it sounded human.

"Run..."

The chains pulled tighter as his expression became empty again.

He slowly raised his hand and a spear of pure void formed above the battlefield.

Lucian's eyes widened.

"No!"

"He isn't attacking us..."

The spear turned.

Its tip pointed directly toward the Creator's Light.

If it struck, the balance between Light and Darkness could be shattered forever.
