Chapter 28 No Pajamas

Emily was almost driven crazy.

She had married Ethan just to steal the medical book. Ethan had only asked her to bathe him once, other than that, they had managed to coexist peacefully.

Originally, she was waiting for the right opportunity to open the safe, get the medical book, and then find an excuse to divorce Ethan.

But she never expected that now there was suddenly Aldrich causing trouble.

Emily thought, ‘I absolutely do not want to share a bed with Ethan. This is ridiculous!’

"I already know." At this moment, Ethan’s indifferent voice came through the receiver.

The Hall was his domain, and he could get firsthand information on whatever Aldrich did or said.

Emily was confused by that. She waited for a while, expecting his next words, but was met with a minute of silence.

She thought, ‘Is that all?’

She urgently said, "Mr. Thomas, you need to think of a solution. We only have a contractual marriage. If Mr. Aldrich continues to stay here, it won't be convenient for either of us."

However, Ethan replied coldly, "We'll talk about it when I get back."

Emily fell silent.

She thought, ‘I see, so there is no escaping sharing a bed with him now. Ethan simply can’t find a way to get rid of Aldrich!’

It seemed she would have to figure something out on her own.

However, Emily accompanied Aldrich for walks and chess games the entire day while trying countless excuses to send him back to the Thomas Mansion, only to be ruthlessly rejected each time.

Soon, night fell.

Ethan finally returned. She and Aldrich greeted him in the living room.

"Ethan, I understand that you know about my stay here. I'll stay with you for a while. When Emily has good news, I'll go back." Aldrich acted as if he didn't fear anything.

Ethan remained expressionless. "As you wish."

Emily widened her eyes beside them.

She thought, ‘What does Ethan mean? So he is letting Aldrich do whatever he wants? Ethan doesn’t care at all whether Aldrich stays or not! Could it be that he actually intends to have a child with me? Is he able to?’

Emily was furious, exploding with rage.

She thought, ‘I don’t want the medical book anymore. Is it still possible for me to get a divorce now?’

"Emily, help me upstairs." At this moment, Ethan spoke coldly.

Emily eagerly wanted to have a private conversation with him.

"Mr. Aldrich, let me take Mr. Thomas upstairs to rest for a while. We'll come down for dinner later." She informed Aldrich and proceeded to push Ethan upstairs.

Once they reached the room, she immediately locked the door.

Emily accused him indignantly, "Mr. Thomas, didn't we agree to a contractual marriage? I married you to seek protection. You also said you wouldn't have sex with me. Now Mr. Aldrich wants us to sleep in the same room. You have to do something about this!"

Ethan raised an eyebrow calmly and asked, "Emily, think about it. Do we have to do anything after sleeping in the same room? Isn't this room big enough for both of us?"

Emily suddenly paused, realizing there was some logic to his words.

She thought, ‘Why should I squeeze into the same bed with Ethan in such a large room?’

"Mr. Thomas, you're right. I can sleep on the floor." Although sleeping on the floor wasn't as comfortable as a big bed, she had to do this to deal with Aldrich.

However, thinking about what Aldrich had said, Emily fell into distress again. "Mr. Thomas, Mr. Aldrich made it clear that he'll only leave when I am pregnant. As long as he's here, we'll have to share a room. That's really inconvenient! And, over time, your... condition will be hard to hide. By then, it will be difficult for both of us to explain. Why not just be straightforward with him?"

Ethan glanced at her indifferently and simply replied, "Let’s go with the flow."

Emily rolled her eyes secretly.

She thought, ‘He seems surely relaxed. Fine, if Ethan wants to preserve his dignity, I will cover for him first. When I can’t hide it anymore, the embarrassment will be his alone!’

After dinner, under Aldrich's watchful eye, Emily pushed Ethan into the room.

The room next door was already empty. Even if she waited for Aldrich to return to his room to rest, she wouldn't have a place to sleep if she sneaked back to her room.

Not even a bed had been left for her there.

Emily felt uncomfortable and anxious, but she had no solution.

She thought, ‘Most importantly, if I stayed in Ethan's room, would I be responsible for helping him shower?’

Emily truly felt troubled.

Sure enough, the next moment, Ethan's commanding voice sounded, "Push me into the bathroom."

Emily secretly shed two tears, pursed her lips, and pushed Ethan into the bathroom.

After experiencing it once, the second time was much easier.

However, when her hand touched Ethan's belt, a hoarse and low voice came from above her head, "This is good enough. I'll handle the rest myself. Go out."

Emily felt confused.

She thought, ‘Doesn’t he only have strength in one leg and have no sensation in the other leg? I thought he couldn’t do this by himself. Could it be… I see, Ethan must be feeling embarrassed. So, no matter how tired or difficult it is, he doesn’t want me involved and doesn’t want his shortcomings exposed to me.’

Suddenly, Emily felt a bit sympathetic towards him and obediently went out to wait.

Listening to the sound of water inside, Emily walked towards the wardrobe and took out two blankets from inside.

One to use as a bed sheet and the other to cover herself.

She had endured hardships before, and she could manage to sleep on the floor.

After tidying up on the floor for a while, the bathroom door opened.

Ethan controlled the wheelchair and came out on his own.

Emily was shocked. Even the pillow in her hand fell to the ground.

She thought, ‘How could he bathe and change into pajamas by himself?’

Meeting her puzzled gaze, Ethan said in a deep voice, "My right leg had rehabilitation therapy today, and the recovery is decent. From now on, I'll try to shower myself instead of asking you to."

"That's great!" Emily clapped excitedly.

Her joy instantly swept away her doubts.

She didn't doubt Ethan's words. Instead, she happily walked towards him and pointed to the neatly arranged bed on the floor, saying, "Mr. Thomas, I've set up my bed on the floor. I might move around a lot at night. If I disturb you, I apologize in advance."

"It's okay," Ethan said calmly.

"Then you should rest first, Mr. Thomas. I'll go in and take a shower." Emily walked into the bathroom and locked the door.

Due to her efforts to tidy up, she was already sweating. She quickly threw her dirty clothes into a basket and then stepped into the shower.

After showering, she realized something extremely important while drying herself with a towel.

She hadn't brought her pajamas with her.

Emily roared silently in her heart. She had never had the habit of bringing pajamas into the bathroom, but now it was different.

She was sharing a room with Ethan now. She didn’t feel that it was appropriate to leave the bathroom with a towel around her to change into her pajamas.

Helplessly wrinkling her brow, Emily could only move her slender body towards the door and weakly asked, "Mr. Thomas, are you asleep?"

"What's the matter?" A clear and gentle voice rang out.

Emily was extremely embarrassed. She whispered, "I didn't bring my pajamas. Could you..."
