Chapter 27 How Can A Couple Not Sleep Together?

Emily walked over and politely greeted, "Good morning, Mr. Aldrich."

She couldn't help but wonder why Aldrich had suddenly come so early in the morning.

She thought, ‘Could it be that he regretted giving me the jade bracelet and wants it back? Well, I don’t care much for that jade bracelet anyway. If he wants to take it back, so be it.’

Acknowledging her greeting with a gentle nod, Aldrich's gaze shifted to Trista as he asked, "Who is this?"

Trista snapped out of her thoughts and courteously stepped forward while greeting sincerely, "You must be Aldrich, right? I've seen you before, but I doubt you remember me. My name is Trista Weber, an etiquette teacher for many socialites and heiresses. I've also taught your granddaughters, Alanna Thomas and Serena Thomas."

Aldrich remained composed while stroking his beard as he sighed, "So you are Alanna’s teacher. Please, have a seat."

Emily knew that Alanna was the only daughter of Faye. Aldrich only favored his eldest son William, second son Garry, and his third child Faye.

Thus, their offspring were also cherished and loved by Aldrich.

As for Serena, Emily couldn't recall which child of Aldrich she belonged to. Earlier, Aldrich hadn't mentioned her name, indicating she was probably overlooked.

Emily thought, ‘It is easy for the parents to show favoritism towards certain kids, especially in such a large family. Favored children are fortunate, but what about those who aren't loved?’

She suddenly thought of herself.

Compared to Emily, those neglected children of Aldrich were actually luckier. At least they didn't have to worry about meeting their basic needs, let alone being framed and imprisoned.

If she had to blame someone, it would be her excessive trust in Patrick and Fred who was supposedly to be her good father.

Emily thought, ‘If not for these two scoundrels, how could I have been framed by Ramona and Sarah?’

"Emily, did Ethan arrange for Mrs. Weber to teach you?" Aldrich sat down on the sofa and asked.

Emily snapped back to reality and nodded, "Yes, Mr. Aldrich."

Trista thought, ‘Emily had angered me earlier. I need to put her in her place!’

She sat down gracefully, then complained to Aldrich with elegance, "Yes, Mr. Aldrich. Mr. Ethan arranged for me to come to teach Miss Parker. However, before our lesson even started, I was already picked up by Miss Parker. I'm afraid this lesson won't be able to continue. I've heard that Miss Parker grew up in the countryside and spent three years in prison, which has led to some bad habits. Miss Parker not only refuses to listen to my corrections but is also full of herself. A student like Miss Parker is simply beyond my teaching.”

Trista was always proud. She specialized in etiquette and had won awards abroad. Even royal princesses treated her with respect. She had never suffered such humiliation.

Even among the Thomas family, both Alanna and Serena had studied under her guidance, and they were both diligent and respectful. In comparison, Emily was like a troublemaker.

Aldrich's expression soured upon hearing this.

Emily couldn't help but curl her lips inwardly. She thought, ‘Trista's ability to complain seems to surpass her etiquette skills. However, judging by Aldrich's expression, he is likely to be angry.’

Emily could anticipate that if Ethan found out about this, he would surely be angry. She had indeed disgraced Ethan and brought shame to the Thomas family.

Seeing Aldrich's changed expression, Trista looked triumphantly at Emily, eagerly anticipating her scolding.

However, Aldrich waved his hand, his tone serious as he said, "Fine, Emily. If you don't want to learn, you don't have to. Right now, the most important thing is not learning etiquette but quickly bearing children for Ethan."

"Bearing children?" Emily's pupils suddenly dilated several times over.

She thought, ‘Is this implying that I should have a child with Ethan?’

"Do you and Ethan have difficulties in this regard?" Aldrich's expression changed again.

There was gossip going around that Ethan was incapable of performing sex, but Aldrich always treated them as groundless rumors. Every time he subtly asked Ethan about it, Ethan avoided the topic.

Seeing Emily's surprised expression, he felt that this situation was not good.

Aldrich thought, ‘Could it be that the rumors are actually right?’

Emily hesitated and couldn't find the words to say. She wondered how she should explain the situation.

Moreover, Trista was present.

Aldrich could see Emily's dilemma and immediately turned to Trista and said, "Mrs. Weber, since Emily has a playful personality, let's temporarily postpone the lessons. We can invite you again when she's more interested."

“Well..." Trista was stunned.

She thought, ‘Am I being dismissed just like that? Is my grievance going to be in vain?’

Trista was unwilling, but she couldn't go against Aldrich’s decision. She could only say goodbye reluctantly and leave The Hall.

In the living room, only Aldrich, Emily, Josh, and Rosalind remained.

Aldrich sighed deeply and said directly, "Emily, you don't need to hide anything from me. Josh and Rosalind have been with the Thomas family for a long time. They won't spread rumors in public. Speak your mind."

Emily was stunned.

She thought, ‘What do you want me to say? What should I say? That Ethan is no longer a man? Even Aldrich doesn’t know about this, it seems that surely Ethan intended to keep it hidden. If I revealed this information, it would hurt Ethan's pride, and he would surely want to kill me.’

Emily looked embarrassed and scratched her head. "Mr. Aldrich, actually, Mr. Ethan and I... are working on it. Yes, working on it. Maybe there will be good news soon..."

Upon hearing this, Aldrich's face, which was originally weathered and stern, suddenly showed a hint of joy. "Ethan has no problems?"

Emily didn't answer, just awkwardly smiled.

Aldrich stood up and said to Josh and Rosalind, "Come, let's go to their bedroom. Spray some nice perfume inside and change the bedsheets. Considering Mr. Thomas's temperament, he definitely didn't do any of these things."

Emily was instantly dumbfounded.

Before she could stop him, Aldrich had already briskly walked upstairs with his cane.

However, when she rushed over, Aldrich was standing at Ethan's door, his face turning iron-blue. "Emily, what's going on? You and Ethan are actually sleeping in separate rooms?"

Emily lowered her head, explaining with guilt, "Mr. Aldrich, my sleeping habits are not good. I'm afraid of crushing Mr. Thomas's legs at night, so I took the initiative to sleep separately."

However, Aldrich was not a fool and already understood the situation. He sternly said, "Starting tonight, you two must sleep in the same room. How can a married couple sleep in separate beds? This is unacceptable! Josh, go and prepare two guest rooms. We'll temporarily stay here. Rosalind, go and tidy up the next room, move Emily's things to Ethan's room."

Emily was once again thrown into confusion.

Josh and Rosalind nodded and said, "Yes, Mr. Aldrich."

The two went to prepare the rooms.

Emily felt like crying. While Aldrich was distracted, she hurriedly slipped into a room where no one was and called Ethan, "Mr. Thomas, it's not good! Mr. Aldrich found out about us sleeping separately. Now he wants to stay here. What should we do?"
