Chapter 188 The Final Decision

Chapter 188 The Final Decision

When they returned to the office, Hannah had already compiled all the materials.

The two set out together.

The meeting with the black market was arranged at an abandoned factory—a straightforward exchange of money for goods.

Naturally, Amelia wasn't foolish enough to bring that much cash.

When they arrived, a man and woman were already waiting inside the warehouse.

The woman was tall and slender, her hair half-up, wearing a red tank top. Her arms were covered in explicit tattoos—clearly someone from the streets.

The man standing beside her was short and slight, with shifty eyes that gleamed with cunning—a typical lowlife.

"So you're the one making noise about buying our files for a billion?"

Amelia stepped forward and nodded.

The woman looked at Amelia with interest.

"Judging by your demeanor, you're clearly loaded. This file we have is extremely valuable—not a penny less, or no deal."

Amelia smiled faintly, standing calmly in place.

"This file wasn't obtained by you two, was it?"

The pair exchanged glances. The woman grew wary, eyeing Amelia with suspicion.

"You don't need to worry about how we got this file. You just pay up, and we'll hand it over."

"But I want to meet whoever's behind you. I'd like to make a deal with them," Amelia said seriously.

At those words, the two nearly exploded.

The woman's face darkened. The man's expression turned cold.

"We came here today to make a transaction. If you don't want this file, there's a long line of people behind you waiting. No need to waste each other's time."

With that, they turned to leave.

Amelia snapped her fingers. Immediately, five or six bodyguards emerged from behind her.

The pair spun around, glaring viciously at Amelia.

"Do you know what you're doing?"

Amelia nodded. "Of course I know what I'm doing. Right now, I just want you to tell me—who's pulling your strings?"

"You have the right to remain silent, but I also have ways of dealing with you. That is, if you can withstand them."

With that, Amelia gave a signal.

Her bodyguards surged forward.

The man and woman were no match for the trained guards and were quickly subdued.

Amelia walked up to them. "Now I'm giving you a chance. Talk or don't talk?"

The two still remained defiant, shouting.

"Go ahead and kill us if you dare! I'm telling you, I'll never betray our boss!"

The moment the man finished speaking, Amelia pulled a dagger from her bag.

She pressed the blade against the man's throat.

The cold steel gleamed sharply. The man looked down and realized Amelia was serious. He couldn't help but gasp.

Amelia's voice was ice-cold, her expression grim. "I'm giving you one last chance. Talk or don't talk?"

The man swallowed hard, glancing at the woman beside him.

"I don't know much about this, but Sansa definitely knows."

The woman called Sansa flew into a rage and kicked the man hard.

"You useless piece of trash! You sold me out at the first sign of trouble! I'm telling you, I don't know anything. I'm his girlfriend—I just came along to help sell the stuff."

One claimed ignorance, the other pleaded innocence.

Amelia knew that without drawing real blood, she wouldn't get the truth out of them.

"Looks like you won't talk without seeing some blood."

She applied slight pressure. The sharp blade cut into the man's neck.

Blood immediately beaded along the knife's edge. The man felt the chill, then warmth on his throat, and began trembling violently.

"I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"

Sufficiently frightened, he didn't need further prompting.

The next moment, he spilled everything.

"We both work in the black market. Someone hired us to come here, collect the money, hand over the file to the buyer, then return to the market. There are plenty of workers like us in the black market, but we really don't know who the boss behind this is."

Sansa beside him quickly echoed his words.

Amelia considered briefly. They probably wouldn't dare lie to her now.

She released them.

They tried to run. Amelia signaled to her bodyguards, who immediately caught them again.

The pair looked at Amelia with pitiful expressions, pleading, "We really haven't done anything terrible. Please let us go."

"Didn't you say you had to bring the money back? How will you report back if you don't?" Amelia smiled slightly.

The two felt their hearts sink.

Could there really be such a good thing?

Amelia handed them a check, her smile meaningful.

"However, the reason I'm giving you this check is because I need you to do something for me."

The pair groaned inwardly.

They knew it couldn't be that simple.

After Amelia dealt with the two, she left with her bodyguards.

The pair stood there, exchanging glances with troubled expressions.

For a moment, the check in their hands felt like a hot potato.

"Should we do what she asked or not?" the woman said with a frown.

The man grimaced. "If we don't, she's the heiress of a major corporation. She could crush us in a heartbeat. What choice do we have? We can only do as she says."

The two quickly left.

After rushing back to the black market, they reported that the task was complete.

They also handed over the check to their boss.

In a dark, cramped room.

A man stood with his back to the door by the window. The light filtering through illuminated only half his face, revealing a grotesque scar running from his neck to his cheek.

The door opened and a young man in a suit walked in.

"How did it go?"

The scarred man held the check between two fingers.

"This is the check my people collected for you. The file's been sold."

The young man approached the scarred man.

The moment he saw the check, his expression changed drastically.
