BREAKING THE LIES
With all the information Rory had gathered, she knew now that Victor was innocent, but she had to prove it to get that evil woman punished and out of their lives. Then, a thought formed in her mind, and she discussed with Victor about bringing the family of three home.
Victor was resistant at first, but seeing that Rory had a plan, he obliged. He just wants to get this problem sorted.
When the woman got the invitation, she was very excited, her plans had worked, she thought. She took the twin boys and came to Rory’s mansion.
Rory had the chef prepare something nice. They had a nice dinner and then were shown to the guest room. Afterwards, Rory gathered the samples and sent them to a reputable lab for another DNA test.
The wait for the result seemed endless; Alice, unaware that the couple had their plans, settled in the mansion. After seven days, the results were out, the envelope sat on the table like a ticking bomb.
Rory’s fingers trembled as she reached for it. This was it, the second test. The truth she had forced herself to uncover despite the pain, despite the betrayal, despite the chaos that had shattered her world.
Victor sat across from her, his expression was unreadable, but his hands were clenched into fists. Harriet stood by the doorway, watching with cautious eyes. Even Ami, playing in the living room, seemed to sense the tension in the air.
The first test had nearly destroyed their marriage.
But if this test came back the same…
Rory swallowed hard, she had to know the truth. She tore open the envelope and pulled out the results. Her eyes scanned the paper, her breath catching as she reached the conclusion.
Probability of Paternity: 0%
Her heart slammed against her ribs.
“Victor,” she whispered. Her voice shook. “The twins, they're not yours.”
Victor shot up from his seat and ran to take a look.
“What?” His voice was sharp and full. Of murderous intent.
Rory shoved the paper toward him. “This says you’re not the father, which proves that the first test was a lie.”
Harriet, who had been listening from the side, gasped. “Oh my God…”
Victor snatched the paper, his eyes darting over the words, his breath growing heavier with each passing second. His entire body was taut, like a predator ready to strike.
“That woman,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous. “She lied, she lied against me.”
Rory was still staring at the results, her mind was reeling. The betrayal was deeper than she had imagined. This wasn’t just a woman trying to claim her children’s father.
This was an attack.
Someone had gone to extreme lengths to falsify DNA results, to plant a seed of destruction in her home, but why?
Victor didn’t hesitate. He grabbed his phone and dialled Alice’s number.
The moment she picked up, he didn’t give her a chance to speak.
“Where are you?” he snarled.
She was silent at first, but then Sasha’s voice dripped with fake confidence. “Victor, baby, is this how you talk to the mother of your children? Anyways, I just stepped out to shop for a few things; I am close to the house now.”
“They’re not mine,” he spat. “And you damn well know it.”
Alice let out a nervous laugh. “What are you talking about?”
Alice walked in a moment after and met the couple seated, waiting for her.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Alice,” Victor barked the moment she took her seat. “We did a second test, a real one. And guess what? The results say I’m not the father. So you better start talking before I ruin your life.”
She was quiet for a moment, and then the panic crept into her voice. “That’s—that’s impossible. The first test was—”
“Was fake,” Rory cut in, her own anger finally boiling over. “And I want to know who helped you pull it off.”
Alice sucked in a sharp breath. “I—I don’t know what you’re talking about”
“Give it up, Alice. The truth is out now, so for your own sake, you need to confess.” Victor roared. “Someone helped you fake those results. Who was it?”
“I—I can’t say” She stammered
“You will say whoever it was,” Rory interrupted coldly. “Because if you don’t, I’ll make sure the police know about the fraud you committed. And then I’ll make sure every damn person you’ve ever scammed knows the truth.”
Alice’s breathing was heavy now, frantic.
Victor could almost hear her brain scrambling for a way out.
“Alright, alright!” she finally blurted. “I didn’t do it alone. Someone helped me; someone who hates you wanted this to happen.”
Victor exchanged a sharp look with Rory.
“Who is the person?” Rory demanded.
Sasha hesitated. “I don’t know his real name. I swear! He contacted me, he knew a lot of things about you, Victor. He told me exactly how to get the DNA results changed. He even paid for the fake documents.”
Victor’s stomach turned. This wasn’t just about a desperate woman trying to trap him.
This was premeditated, planned, and organized.
Someone had orchestrated this entire mess.
And now, Victor was out for blood.
Victor gritted his teeth. “Where can I find him?”
Alice let out a shaky breath. “I—I don’t know! He found me, I never met him in person, only through a middleman. He gave me instructions, gave me the money, and told me to disappear once you accepted the kids.”
Rory’s stomach churned. “Why Alice? Why go along with it?”
Sasha’s voice wavered. “Because I was desperate! He promised me money, security… he told me all I had to do was get you to believe it.”
Victor slammed his fist onto the table. “And you didn’t think for a second that you were being used?”
“I didn’t have a choice!” Sasha shouted. “I was broke, Victor! He knew everything about me and about you too, and you too, Rory. He knew exactly what would break your marriage apart. It was calculated.”
Rory’s blood ran cold. Someone had been targeting them from the very beginning, and someone wanted to rip them apart, to leave them vulnerable and exposed.
But who? And more importantly… why?
Victor’s jaw clenched. “You better pray I never find out who this bastard is, Alice. Because if I do—”
With the truth finally out, Alice and the boys are kicked out of the house, but Rory insists on keeping them in a hotel. She warned Alice sternly not to leave the city until the truth was out.
Harriet spoke up, her voice cautious. “Victor, do you think this has anything to do with your past?”
Victor stiffened his past; he thought about the things he had done and the people he had crossed.
Could someone from his past be coming after him now? A sudden thought hit him.
What if this wasn’t about him at all, what if… this was about Rory?
He turned to his wife, studying her carefully. “Rory, have you made any enemies lately?”
