Chapter 13
We jetted down the stone halls looking for my mother,but nobody could find her. We had been searching for nearly an hour when I smelled something off. I went to walk forward and Luke stopped me.

" I can't let you go any further darlin. I need you to stay here with Serina and let me go check it out. Okay."

For the first time in our short relationship I gave him a look of annoyance," no way in hell am I not going with you and you can't stop me from going. I think my mother is down that hallway and I'm not just going to leave her there."

" Please listen to me Lila. Just stay with Serina for me baby please." He was holding my head in his hands now and looking in my eyes pleading with me to just listen to him. I had my hands on his arms and I felt the same uncertain feeling he was and coupled with everything else he was doing it made me have an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I swallowed hard and shook my head.

"Okay Luke I will stay, but whatever you find you have to promise you will tell me."

He kissed the top of my head," I promise." He walked down the hall and around the corner. I instantly turned to Serina.

" You know something, don't you."

" I..I can't tell you and I'm sorry. Luke would have my head, but I will tell you that it's probably not going to be good."

I looked at Jasmine and she just shook her head. Tears started to drip from my lashes," she's dead isn't she."

Serina pulled me in for a hug, " we don't know that for sure Lila."

"That smell is the smell of death of someone who's been dead for a while isn't it."

She sighed, " It is Lila but we don't know for sure that it is her."

"I do.", I said, " I know her smell, that is my mother down there." My tears were falling harder now and as much as I tried to keep it together I just couldn't. I broke as I slid down the wall putting my head in my hands. I sat there and sobbed. Serina sat beside me with her arm around me and her head on my shoulder trying to give me comfort, but she knew I knew and I knew she knew but didn't want to break my heart. I sat there crying for what seemed like hours before I heard Luke's voice.

" Hey darlin", he said as he kneeled down in front of me wiping my tears from my eyes.

"Did you find her?" His face fell and I knew. I thought it was bad before when I thought my mom had died, but it was a hundred times worse when I knew it was real. I felt numb and I couldn't move. I was sobbing so hard that I was making high pitched noises as I took a breath. My body was shaking as it was going into shock and I lost all senses.

He picked me up and asked," me do you want to see her?"

I shook my head yes and he carried me down the long hallway with Serina and Jasmine close behind. The smell of death got stronger the closer we got as we rounded the corner I saw the doors that led outside to the bar and there she was a hole in her chest, eyes like glass and lifeless. The look on her face was pure surprise like she wasn't expecting to see the face of her killer. Maybe she knew them. I went from sad to pissed in a fraction of a second after seeing her. I was standing next to her now and fuming. Luke wrapped his arms around me from behind.

"Do you want to know who killed her?"

I turned to face him, " you can do that".

"All I have to do is drink her blood and her last moments will be revealed to me."

"Can I do it?", I asked him.

" I don't mind if you do, but will you be okay with getting first hand emotions from your mother at the time of her death? If you want me to, I can do it and tell you who did it and share the moment with you later because it can only be done once and if you stop midway through before you find out who did it we will never know".

I thought about it for a minute and I understood what he was saying and I took into consideration how I would feel and what my reaction would be. It was then that I realized I couldn't do it and I loved Luke for wanting to take that burden from me.

" I want you to do it."

He walked away from me and squatted down next to my mother's body and bit into her neck and drank her blood. The look on his face was awful like he had a bad taste in his mouth and had seen the worst thing possible. When he stood up he wiped his mouth of my mother's blood. He then proceeded to pick her up.

" Let's go darlin". I gave him a questioning look. " I'm only going to preserve her in the freezer so your dad can say goodbye once we find him and give her a proper burial".

"I love you Luke".

"I love you too Lila". I walked behind him next to Serina and Jasmine.

"You knew didn't you.", I said looking at Serina.

"I did but I didn't have the heart to tell you. There are no words that could describe what had happened. I mean I didn't know exactly how it happened or what we would find when we found her, but by the smell I knew."

" I understand why you couldn't tell me because I don't think I could tell you either". She took my hand as we followed Luke into the kitchen. When my mother was safely placed in the freezer it was time.to figure out where my father was. Luke pulled out his cell and called Auberon one of the warriors that had gone to help him.

"What do you mean you can't help him!", he yelled into the phone. " You had better be close to finding him and have him found before we arrive or I will have your head on a stake". He was beyond pissed when he ended the call.

" They lost your dad, but know where he is. He's being held by Julias until we bring you to him and I'm not willing to do that."

"No, I have to", I said. " If it wasn't for me my mother wouldn't be dead in a freezer right now and I can't let my father's death be my fault too."

Serina said, " hold up I have an idea. What if we dye my hair the same colors as Lila's because Julias has never seen either of us in person and we trick him. While I'm seducing him you guys find Lance and save him."

Luke looked intrigued," it has to be better than that. I have to give you up to him like I'm defeated because it's the only way we can save Lance. While this is going on I will have our  warriors go with Lila to get her father and I will hurry and meet up with them and kill all of Julias's warriors that are holding Lance and the others hostage". This seemed like it would work and I agreed. 

"One thing though", Serina said, " please hurry I don't want to have to fuck the bastard".

"We will be as fast as we can", I promised. 

Jasmine decided to stay behind and find our own warriors that might have made their way to safety.
