Chapter 105

Chapter 105
I linked Amy as the manicurist was soaking my fingers in a small bowl.

Hey, Ames. Is everything okay? I cautiously asked.

Of course, everything is great. Is the manicurist there yet? She asked.

Yes. That really wasn’t necessary of you. But thank you. Do you want me to come down and help out when my nails are done? I asked.

Absolutely not. You’re not allowed to leave the suite until it’s time for the ceremony. Plus, you’re getting a pedicure too.

Amy! This is crazy. I know you and Sera much be running around getting things ready. Please let me help. I said.

You are not allowed to help! This is your day and you are going to relax and let your friends and love ones take care of everything for you and that is final! Amy yelled.

Okay, okay. I conceded.

For some reason, I found it much easier to relax today than the day before. After my manicure and pedicure, the lovely technician, Vivian, left me reclining on the couch with a face mask slathered over my face, cucumber slices covering my eyes, and strict instructions not to wash the mask off for at least twenty minutes. She even set the timer on my phone so I would know when the twenty minutes was up.

How’s the relaxing going? Grimm linked me.

Surprisingly, pretty good. I’m better at it than I was yesterday.

I could feel Grimm’s smile through the link. Good. Lunch will be up in about an hour and Amy’s going to be up at 3:00 to help you get ready.

Ok. Thank you, love. I replied.

It was closer to 4:00 when Amy finally came up to the suite to help me get ready. She brought her large bag of hair tools, products, make up, and goddess knows what else, as well as her outfit for the ceremony.

“We’re going to get pretty together!” she announced as she strode into the suite and started setting up her supplies on the desk in the living room.

“How’s everything going out there?” I asked cautiously. No one would give me even a scrap of information all day, even the kitchen staff who brought up my lunch.

“Perfect, and nothing you have to worry about now. You’ll see it all soon enough,” Amy said.

Over the next two hours, Amy beautified me with a light touch of makeup, giving me a natural, glowing look, and curled my hair into loose waves. Some of the hair was pulled up, leaving tendrils curling around to frame my face. Before we left for the ceremony, as a final touch, she was going to poke sprigs of jasmine into my hair. For now, they were in the fridge so they wouldn’t wilt.

We chatted about the old days of college and other silly memories while I watched Amy get herself ready. She swiftly and effortlessly did her own makeup to perfection, like a practiced skill, before pulling her hair back in a sleek chignon. She also would have flowers in her hair for the ceremony, as would Seraphina; orange blossoms. Both ladies were also going to be dressed in coordinating navy blue gowns and sort of acting as bridesmaids for the ceremony.

This wasn’t particularly common in luna ceremonies, but I wanted my best friends to be standing in front of the pack with me as I took my oath.

After pulling on her own dress, Amy helped me into mine so I wouldn’t mess up my hair. I stepped up to the full length mirror in the closet to take in the full picture. Amy’s work on my hair and makeup were perfect, as always, and had a natural feel that worked perfectly with my dress. I traced my fingers over one of the vines embroidered on the flowy white fabric. I loved this dress just as much, no, more so, than when I first saw it in the shop.

Amy went to retrieve the springs of flowers for our hair before returning to me at the mirror. I could smell the delicious combination of jasmine and orange blossoms as she tucked them into my and her own hair.

I adjusted my gold ash leave necklace, making sure it was sitting neatly against my chest, before turning to Amy.

“I’m ready,” I said with a smile.

“Yeah, you are, Luna,” she said.

She linked her arm in mine and led me down to the first floor of the pack house.

We stepped outside onto the patio and I frowned in confusion.

“Amy, where is everyone?” I asked.

“This way,” she said, pulling me in the direction of the path the led into the woods.

“I thought we were having the ceremony on the patio,” I asked.

“You think I’d let my best friend have the most important ceremony of her life on a boring patio? No chance, girl.” Amy scoffed.

As we walked into the woods, the path was lit on either side by small lanterns, casting a warm glow and leading the way.

I let Amy lead me, breathing in the scents and sounds of the summer night and not paying particular attention to where we were headed, until I started to scent my mate and noticed we were approaching the clearing in the woods. The one I thought of as ours; mine and Grimms.

As we rounded the final little bend in the path, the clearing came into view and the sight took my breath away.
