Chapter 104

Chapter 104
“Oh, oh Cam! Don’t cry,” Amy said, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. “We’ll figure something out. I promise.”

I fruitlessly wiped tears from my face as more replaced them just as quickly, “It’s just – just th-that after every-rything I re-really w-w-wanted this to be p-per-perfect!” I cried, struggling to form my words between sobs.

“Sweetie, I didn’t realize this meant so much to you,” Seraphina soothed, rubbing by back as I cried.

My friends comforted me, the three of us staring at the wreckage before us, until my crying stopped with a few last hiccups. Seraphina produced a tissue for me to blow my nose.

“I’m sorry for the meltdown,” I sighed, wiping the last of the tears away, “I really don’t know why this made me cry so hard. It’s just a pergola. It’s fine. I don’t need a beautiful, flower covered pergola for my ceremony. It’s about me and Grimm. We can just have it on the patio and it will be fine.”

Sera and Amy exchanged looks over my shoulder.

“Cam, how about you go in and get a nice cup of tea and some breakfast. Maybe take a nice, relaxing bath. While you do that, Amy and I will see what we can salvage and come up with something else for the ceremony. Okay?” Seraphina asked.

“Don’t make too much of a fuss. Like I said, we can just have the ceremony on the patio and it will be fine. Okay? I’ll go freshen up a little then come help you.” I said, but I wasn’t sure I was convincing either of them, let alone myself.

“Okay, sweetie. Go relax and we will let you know when we need your help,” Amy said as she directed me back towards the pack house.

Grimm was waiting by the door, taking my hand as Amy led me to him.

“Cam is going to have a nice cup of tea, some breakfast, and a relaxing bath,” Amy said to Grimm like an order.

He nodded and carted me inside and up to our suite.

“It’s going to be okay, love. I don’t care where we have our ceremony, as long as by the end of the night, you’re officially my luna.”

“Right. I told them that. We can have the ceremony on the patio and it will be fine,” I said again.

Grimm made me tea and got me settled into the bath, putting on calming music, before slipping out of the room. I should have been suspicious that he didn’t try to fondle me when I was getting undressed, but I was still in some sort of state of shock and didn’t notice.

Grimm hurried back downstairs after Cam was settled in the bath, near catatonic.

“Okay, we need a plan,” he said as he joined Amy, Sera, and Declan in the lounge. “she is not fine and this needs to be the best ceremony we’ve ever had for her.”

“I think we have a plan,” Amy began, “instead of outside under the tree and pergola, we can have it here, in the lobby. We can decorate with flowers and make it all pretty and then everyone can go out to the patio after for the party.”

“I don’t think the entire pack is going to fit comfortably in here. Plus, I know Cam really wanted to have it outside. She really loves being out by the woods in summer.” Grimm disagreed. He appreciated the ladies’ efforts, but this ceremony needed to be perfect for Cam.

“I guess we could try to get the pergola and branch mess cleaned up outside and have it under the tree without the pergola,” Declan suggested.

“I don’t want to stand under that tree after that huge branch came down,” Amy argued. It was a fair point.

The three contemplated options in silence, sipping coffee.

Grimm’s mind wandered back to the run he shared with Cam the night before, how she loved the sounds and smells of the woods at night.

“That’s it!” he said, excitedly, “I know the perfect place.”

The group huddled together, crafting a plan and assigning tasks like they were organizing a battle strategy. Once they all had their marching orders, Grimm went back up to check on Cam while the other got to work.

“How are you doing, love?” Grimm asked as he entered the bathroom to find Cam toweling off.

“Better,” she said, looking and sounding more like herself. “I’ll get dressed and go see what I can do to help Amy and Sera,” she said.

“Nope.” Grimm said, shaking his head, “You are under strict orders to spend today relaxing. Amy will come up sometime after lunch to help you get ready for tonight. We have everything outside under control and you are not allowed to worry about it at all.”

Cam stared at him, frowning. “What do you have up your sleeve?” she asked.

He couldn’t help but grin, “You will see. Later. For now, you’re going to have some breakfast, whatever you want brought up from the kitchen. Amy’s sending someone to do your nails in an hour.”

Cam sighed in defeat, “Okay.”
