Chapter 99

Meanwhile, in the Bloodmoon pack everyone was thrown into a state of disarray and confusion. The warriors that had come with Malachi already scattered with their tails tucked behind their legs. The clashing of swords were no longer heard, no punching, just silence and the smell of blood.

Dead bodies lay on the ground with blood seeping out from their bodies. The bloodmoon pack werewolves changed into their human form and put on the clothes given to them by the caretakers. Everyone sighed in distress, they were able to protect their pack but none of them was able to save their Luna from the clutches of Malachi.

In the midst of it all, Damien sat on a rock beside the spot that Delphine stood when she disappeared from his sight. In his hands was the sword she was holding. Damien still remembered the look in her eyes when she was taken away by Malachi into another world. She looked scared, so scared.

Damien let out a breath of distress. He could still feel her heart beating from their mate bond but the rate of her heart had spiked up. It was beating faster than normal. She was calm before, but now he could feel the emotions of fear.

What exactly was shocking going through at the moment? Damien was worried. He tried to talk to her through their bond but he couldn’t get to her. It was like there was a stop to their communication. He let out another sigh, he placed his right hand on his chest and he tried to go into her mind to see where she was. He tried multiple times but to no avail.

Damien finally got up from the rock, still holding his sword. He marched past the sea of dead bodies and headed towards where everyone was gathered. They all looked at him as he walked past them. They all experienced trepidation. They wanted to be of help to their Alpha as he had been of help to them.

Damien walked up to higher grounds, he turned to face his pack who all had eyes on him. They had a duty, but they failed. Those were the words that Damien could read in their eyes.

Damien tucked the sword in the sheath and handed it to the person standing close by.

He then addressed the crowd. “Your Luna has been taken by Malachi to another place. We have no idea where she is but we would definitely find her. Ryan, Luca and Daciana will gather a few groups to go find her. They would lead you into the different parts of the forest. We must find her, we have no idea what Malachi can do. So if you do see anything related or any clue please do let us know. Thank you.”

Damien stepped down and headed back towards where he had last seen Delphine before she disappeared, but before then he walked towards where Luca and Daciana stood talking.

They saw Damien headed towards them so they walked towards him and they met each other halfway.

“Stats on the people that died?” Damien asked Luca after they had both nodded at each other in greeting.

“We still haven’t been able to identify all of them, but for now we only know that five of us are dead after the fight. Thirty were brutally injured and twelve men fell unconscious after fainting the moment the fight started,” Luca replied.

“We should have the men who fainted train with Ryan. They need more hardcore exercises,” Daciana suggested.

Damien ran a hand through his hair, then nodded. Daciana noticed that he looked absent minded. He wasn’t concentrating on what they were even talking about.

Daciana placed a hand on his shoulder as comfort. “She would be fine. Delphine is stronger than she looks.”

“Yes she is. But I can feel her emotions Ciana, she is scared shitless at the moment. I can’t even see what’s going on. What if Malachi is torturing her at the moment?”

Luca shook his head. “The more you think like that, the more your emotions fluctuate and that would also affect hers. You need to be strong, for her and have faith that we will find her soon. We should start the search now, the quicker we find her, the less we will avoid any troubles.”

Damien gave a nod and they both split up. Damien searched the spot where Delphine had disappeared, he didn’t find any clue. He then recalled that Malachi had done this same disappearing act when he was fighting with him. He went back to that spit Malachi once stood, but all he saw was blood and gore. He kept on searching though, looking around. Some people from the pack were already cleaning off the blood and carrying away the dead bodies to get them incinerated. The ones who had died while protecting the blood moon pack, their ashes would be blessed by the priest before sending them straight into the sea.

Damien contemplated on whether to keep on searching or to move on to other parts when he noticed the glowing object from afar. He stepped closer to see what it was. He picked it up and found out that it was Malachi’s staff, the one he was going to use to suck away Delphine powers. With the way it was glowing, he wondered if it was Delphine’s power that was inside. That thought made him worry more, instantly he discarded the idea. He headed back to the pack house to look for the priest only to find out he was in the garden. The priest was kneeling on the floor under a cherry blossom, his palms together and head facing the sky as he prayed.

Damien waited silently as he watched him pray. The priest had sensed his presence and he quickly rounded up his prayers.

He stood up and bowed. “Alpha,” he said in acknowledgment.

Damien walked closer to him and handed him Malachi’s staff.

The moment the priest touched the staff, he connected his mind to it, that was how he felt the intensity of the magic. The priest recoiled backwards, when his hand touched the staff, he could feel the darkness looming in his soul.

“This…” The priest’s voice came out a little squeaky. He had to clear his throat before continuing. “This is dark magic. It’s from an evil source. I would need you to step in for a bit”

The priest took the staff and walked forward. They both headed into a cottage behind the pack house where the priest had various supplies. He told Damien to sit down while he assessed the staff.

Meanwhile, everyone was giving it their all looking for Delphine or Malachi. It was already night time, darkness had eluded the pack but they still kept on.

In the cottage, the priest and Damien were seated facing each other. The priest had found out that the staff contained a spell of a witch, it was supposed to take Delphine powers away but instead it took Malachi’s powers which was a sign that Malachi at the moment was powerless. This came as a relief for Damien, it means Delphine had a chance over Malachi at the moment. But seriously…why was she still scared?

The priest told Damien to calm down, they needed him to connect his mind with the staff to connect with the magic so as to find Delphine. The staff would be a great help, since it came from Malachi, they could use the staff to find his location and bring him out. Even kill him. And as Damien was connected with Delphine, it was easier. With the combined powers, they could open a portal that led to where Delphine and Malachi were at the moment.

Damien shared this good news to everyone in the pack, they were excited. They all gathered in the pack house waiting for the return and victory.

….

In Malachi’s world, Delphine was still running with every ounce of strength, no time to even catch her breath. Her chest was already hot from the chase, she didn’t even know how long she had been running, and everything here looked the same to her. She felt like she was headed to nowhere in particular and as if she was running in circles but she did not give up.

She kept on running until she missed a foot and fell. Fuck! Why now?

Delphine looked at her ankle which looked a bit twisted. It did not heal, she had already known that since the moment she arrived here she had not been able to change to her wolf or feel its presence. She felt completely human at the moment, so as her ankle is twisted, it won’t heal immediately.

Delphine eyes filled with tears. Why her? Why does she have to go through so much just because she has powers? Delphine couldn’t remain in the open space where Malachi could see her at any moment, so she crawled towards a black and white big rock and sat behind it trying to push her ankle back in position.

As for Malachi, he still could not find Malachi. He himself knew that the disadvantage of being in this world means he could not change into his werewolf or use its senses. So he decided to search for her using his eyes. When he still could not find her, he decided to use her weakest point to draw her out. Her best friend and mother.

Delphine felt a little dizzy at the moment and short of breath. She thought it was the pain from her ankle but no it wasn’t. There was a change in scene. Instead of her being in the black and white world. She was sitting on a stool at the front of a lake, legs crossed, she was wearing a peach colored dress. Her hair in an elegant updo with flowers poking out of them. She was confused, how did she get here? What?!

“I have always wanted to come to the lake. This place is so beautiful. What do you think darling?”

A voice said from behind her. Delphine’s eyes brightened, she couldn’t believe it. That voice she hasn’t heard of in a long time. It sounded so real, everything was so real.

She turned slowly to see if this was all true and it was. There she was, her mother was here with her.
