Chapter 100
“Mom?” Delphine said. Her eyes had water in them, she had a faint memory of her mother. It was like a woman she only met once, her face was there but almost all the memories were gone. Her mother walked closer. Her golden hair being carried by the wind, her angelic blue eyes stared at Delphine with motherly kindness. She also had flowers on her head but her hair wasn’t styled. She wore a white flowery dress that flowed with the wind. With the sun behind her, she looked beautiful.
Delphine was in a state of euphoria in seeing her mother again, it made her giggle. Althea stared at her daughter and gave her a loving smile.
“Well don’t you look beautiful.” Her mother placed both palms on her two cheeks. She noticed the tears rolling down from Delphine’s eyes, her brows deepened. “Why are you crying my love?”
This time, Delphine couldn’t remember why she was crying. It was like a huge chunk of memory just disappeared from her mind. She could not remember why she was crying so she had no choice but to just give her mom a huge smile.
“I am just happy to see you mom.”
“Oh, you silly child. Do you miss me that much?” Delphine nodded eagerly. “Then…why did you kill me?”
“What?!” Delphine was too shocked that she stumbled and fell on the grass. Her butt landed on something soft. She looked down to see blood flowing from her buttocks, her hands had blood in them.
Her mother who was once wearing a pristine white dress now had it stained with blood. Blood was flowing from her eyes, her mouth, her skin.
Delphine screamed.
“You killed me Delphine. You killed your own mother. How could you?”
The words echoed in Delphine’s brain, she wanted to get up but she couldn’t. Her body was stuck to the ground, she tried so hard to move her hand, the more her body sank inside the pool of blood. It felt like she was about to be drowned by sinking blood.
Her mother was so close to her now. Face to face. No it wasn’t her mother, this was evil. Evil!
Delphine kept telling herself it wasn’t her mother. She stared at the woman who was now morphing into something different.
“You killed your mother! You killed me!” The creature shouted.
Delphine was crying so hard murmuring that she didn’t kill anyone, no one did. The creature got close enough to grab Delphine’s face.
“No! Please let me go. Please!”
Crush! The creature squashed Delphine’s face and it burst. Delphine’s blood splattered.
Scene changed. Delphine was seated on her vanity stool, looking at the mirror she was grinning from ear to ear, she was wearing a golden wedding dress. The dress was off-shoulder and it brought out her shape, her makeup was light and enhancing. She looked amazing, her love is going to be so happy to see her. She was finally getting married to the love of her life. It’s so exciting.
Behind her was her best friend, Lila who was also smiling happily. Lila was dressed in a purple bridesmaid dress. She had on harsh makeup which wasn’t the normal Lila style but Delphine paid no mind. Lila still looked beautiful.
“I am so happy to be your maid of honor, it makes me feel privileged,” Lila said, sighing wistfully.
“Indeed you should. Even though I am already married I would still be your maid of honor in your own wedding,” Delphine said, then something hit her, she didn’t even recognize what she was saying, from what she could remember she was definitely not married yet.
Lila giggled. “And I would be glad to have you as one”
Lila stepped closer to the table, standing behind Delphine, she placed her hands on Delphine’s bare shoulder. “You look really beautiful.”
Delphine smiled. She placed her hand on Lila’s “Thank you. You look beautiful too”
Lila flipped her hair. “I always do”
They both laughed. Ruby walked in, after admiring how beautiful Delphine looked, she informed that the wedding was about to start. Delphine was super excited, she got up quickly ready to leave but Lila stopped her.
“Del…you aren’t going to leave me now, right?” Lila asked.
Delphine frowned. “What do you mean? Of course I won’t”
Lila sighed, she played with the tip of her hair. “We have known each other since the beginning, this love of your life, how long have you known him? You don’t even know his name.”
Delphine wondered, save indeed doesn’t know his name. She shrugged, not caring. “I must have forgotten, don’t worry I will remember later. Come let’s go”
She tried to pull Lila forward but she remained rooted to the floor. “You forgot his name. Just the way you forgot to use your powers and save me. Now I am dead, because of you. Everything is your fault Delphine, you don’t deserve to be happy.”
Blood spilled from Lila’s neck and sprayed all over Delphine’s dress. Delphine watched in horror as Lila’s head slid off her neck, falling straight into Delphine’s hand.
Delphine screamed. She dropped her head and ran out of the room. Only to find herself in a pool of blood. She was drowning, her breath was seizing up. She felt hands dragging her down into the pool of blood. She tried so hard to save herself but couldn’t. She kept on sinking and sinking, until eventually she couldn’t see anything, just blood, and her lungs exploded.
Scene changes. Delphine couldn’t keep track of what was going on, everything was happening too fast, no time to catch her breath. She felt scared. What was happening to her. She wanted to come back to her senses, but she couldn’t. She felt like she was missing something in this puzzle but what exactly it was she had no clue.
This time she stood on a bridge. Her body rested on the railings, a tornado was happening but it did not affect her or the bridge. She watched the tornado take everything that belonged to her, her family, her mate, her throne, her people, the tornado sucked them all. She was all alone but she was happy. She felt happy that they were all gone. Wasn’t that sick? But still she was. She thought everyone was gone, only to see her mother sitting on top of the bridge’s railings.
Delphine frowned. She stepped closer to her mother who was swinging her legs singing twinkle twinkle little star.
“What are you doing mom?” Delphine asked.
Her mother smiled. “I am being a child again. Children are always happy, except the sick ones’ ' her mother said, still swinging those legs of hers. Her mother had her hair in a ponytail, with butterfly pins used to style it. Delphine noticed that the more her mother sang the more she shrank. Delphine frowned the most. Something isn’t right here.
Eventually her mother became a baby and she leaked off the railings down into the sea below the bridge.
Delphine watched then shrugged. She too sat on the railings and started singing twinkle twinkle little star, she turned into a baby, leaked off the railing, but this time she did not fall into the sea, she fell on the hard ground and her body squashed like a tomato being stepped on.
Scene changed, this time she was at Bloodmoon pack. Everyone was jolly, happy about their Alpha. She turned to see Damien and she let out a breath of relief. She wanted to go meet him, but she could not move her legs or her arms. That was because she was only a head.
Her voice was already cracked from screaming, she just stared at the wonderment. She was so confused. What did she do to deserve this? She was tired, she just wanted to go home. Everything she had seen from the bloody mother, so sinking in blood and she jumping off a bridge all came running into her mind. She had died multiple times within just how many minutes. She wasn’t sure she would ever see everything the same way again. She was tired. She needs rest.
“Do you think Lila would want a weak best friend?” She turned her eyes to see Daciana and Damien standing beside the table that her head was on.
“What do you mean?” Delphine asked.
“Fight Delphine. Avenge Lila, she isn’t what a weak best friend would let Malachi do with her what he wants. Fight because you can” Damien replied. He stretched his hand and patted her head. “I believe in you. We all do. Come back to me my love”
Gasps! Cough. Cough! Delphine eyes opened. She was back to the black and white world. She let out the breath clouded in her chest. She was sweating profusely and her heart was palpitating against her chest, her hands shaking with fear. That was just too terrifying. Those moments were something she wouldn’t want to visit again.
She stood up with the last ounce of strength she had, she noticed that her ankle had healed, which meant her wolf was still within her. She turned back to where she had run from.
She was tired of running, she was tired of being scared of what she held. She needed to avenge Lila and go back to her mate. She needed peace.
“Did you like the show?” Malachi said. He was standing before her, breathing heavily. Blood was flowing out from his nose, he had no other choice but to wipe it off.
“You were the one bringing those imaginations to me?”
“Of course. It’s my world after all, I can do whatever I want.”
“But you are only getting yourself killed. You are using a power that isn’t yours” Delphine said to him as more blood flowed out from his nose.
“It was worth it. I wanted you to see how much I want to kill you. Those thoughts isn’t enough to describe how many times I have thought of your death”
Delphine scoffed. “Do you really think you would win after all these? Do you think you will get my powers?”
Malachi shrugged, his hands were twirling the dagger. “I might not be able to get your powers, but as long as you are gone, the satisfaction would be worth it”
Delphine clenched her fist. “You are a psycho.”
“Thank you for the compliment. It brings so much joy to my heart.”
They were both tired, but their anger towards each other was very much intense. The bad blood between these two would only be solved by death, no negotiations would help them solve this enmity.
“Even if I die, someone stronger would still appear. Someone that would have so much power than that of the gem…” This was when Delphine noticed that the gem in the necklace that Malachi always wore was no longer glowing. It was dull and dark. “The gem…You have lost your powers? You are nothing but an empty shell right now, aren’t you?”
Malachi tried so hard to appear unaffected but he failed. Delphine caught the fear in his eyes.
This was the first time that Delphine had seen fear in the eyes of Malachi. Of course this would be a moment for her to attack and kill Malachi but she wanted to know.
“You weren’t always like this? I fail to believe that someone was born evil. What exactly happened that made you change…uncle?”
Malachi couldn’t take it anymore, he ran. Delphine was already tired of this cat and mouse chase, but she still ran after him. She needed to know. Due to his tiredness, Malachi was slow and when she got closed, she connected her mind with his. Sipping through his barrier to find his memories.
There she entered those days when Malachi was just five years old. He was playing with his little sister, Althea, Delphine’s mother. They were both seated in their playroom, playing with their toys. Malachi looked so Innocent with his chubby cheeks and wide eyes. He looked like someone who loved his sister so much as he let her always win the round of each game they played.
They kept on playing until their father the king walked in. He saw them playing together and he smiled. They were happy to see their father and they ran to give him a big hug.
“We are going out for lunch today. Come, let’s get you guys ready.”
Delphine, who was at the corner seeing all these things, followed them.
