Chapter 158 Cannot Be Saved
Trion glanced at Mephist—knowing how much he cared about his father—and bit her lip. "Nina, go downstairs and have the servants find a nearby doctor to help. I still have some blood-clotting medicine that Dr. Pascal left behind. I'll find it right away and bring it down for father."
Though Nina resented being ordered around, she couldn't complain since Trion was helping, so she simply nodded."Then hurry up, I'll go first!"
Trion rushed back to her room, found the blood-clotting medicine and bandages from the medicine box Dr. Pascal had left her, and followed Mephist downstairs.
Once downstairs, Trion quickly stepped forward and applied the medicine and wrapped the bandages on Drona, copying what she'd seen Dr. Pascal do. But she knew this could only stop the external bleeding temporarily - she had no way to treat the internal injuries from the impact.
Seeing Trion with the supplies, the old lady assumed Dr. Pascal had sent her. But when Trion stepped aside and the doctor didn't appear, she asked in confusion:"Where's Dr. Pascal?"
Mephist was crouching beside Drona, looking at him with worry. Hearing his mother's question, he answered in a low voice, "He left Titan Manor some time ago."
"What!?"
The old lady felt dizzy and nearly lost her balance. Luckily Holden was quick to catch her, preventing another tragedy.
Trion watched as Holden helped the old lady sit on a nearby sofa, then spoke up quietly, "When Dr. Pascal left, he also said that no matter what, he would never treat anyone from the Titan family again."
The old lady felt a sharp pain in her chest and, shaking with anger, pointed at Trion and scolded her harshly."What were you doing? If he was leaving, why didn't you stop him? And what kind of talk is this - we've been feeding him well and treating him well, how could he turn around and say he won't treat us anymore?"
She stared hard at Trion, "Did you say something, or did you do something to make him angry?"
Trion opened her mouth. She really didn't know whether she should tell them the reason Dr. Pascal left the Titan family - she was afraid that if she did, the old lady would be even angrier. "I didn't do anything..."
"Didn't do anything, and he just left? Hmph, don't tell me this is related to Anne again?"
The old lady laughed coldly. She could see it now - before, when Candy and the others said Trion was helping Anne harm the Titan family, she didn't quite believe it. But now, she really thought Trion was doing it on purpose!
"Right now, you go out and bring Dr. Pascal back! I'm telling you, if you can't bring him back, I'll make Mephist divorce you and kick you out of the Titan family!"
"Mother!"
"I don't agree!"
Mephist stood up from the ground, stepped between the old lady and Trion, and looked at the old lady seriously."Mother, I won't divorce Trion, and I won't accept being separated from my wife for such ridiculous reasons!"
"Dr. Pascal was originally brought here by Anne when she married into the Titan family because she saw your poor health. Later Dr. Pascal left because Holden and Candy drove Anne away. This has nothing to do with Trion."
"Later when your health got bad, it was Trion who personally went to beg Pascal. She, a noble young lady, was willing to do medical case work for a doctor, and only then did Dr. Pascal agree to come back to our house. Why are you blaming Trion?"
"Instead of blaming Trion here, you should have Holden go beg Dr. Pascal himself. He made the mistakes himself - he caused our family to lose the duke title, he has no military achievements, and now he's married a wife who embarrasses the Titan family. Why should he not have to do anything!"
The old lady looked at Mephist, then at Holden on the side.
When Mephist mentioned that he and Candy drove Anne away together, Holden had already bent down and buried his whole face in his palms. He really had no face to stay here, and even less right to demand that Trion be responsible for Dr. Pascal's departure.
While everyone was at a standoff, a doctor from a nearby clinic hurried into the hall carrying a medicine box.
After examining Drona and bleeding his fingers, the doctor said the situation was serious—the impact may have injured his brain. He recommended finding a more skilled doctor, like Dr. Pascal.
"You should have asked Dr. Pascal when he was at Titan Manor," the doctor said, packing his medicine box. "He's the most skilled doctor in the Soth Empire."
The Titan family members watched the doctor leave, all looking very unhappy.
Trion understood that Dr. Pascal would never help with treatment, but the old lady wouldn't accept that. She glanced at the gloomy-faced old lady and instinctively stepped behind Mephist.
Right now only Anne could persuade Dr. Pascal, but Anne had already left the Titan house. The two sides had parted on very bad terms - Anne couldn't possibly beg Dr. Pascal for the Titan family's sake.
The old lady thought of this too and immediately wanted to make Trion go find Anne. But when she looked up, she saw Trion hiding behind Mephist, while Mephist was looking at her seriously, as if ready to refuse the moment she spoke.
The old lady was furious. This son was usually lazy and good for nothing. If she hadn't carefully raised him, how could he have grown up safely? Now for the sake of a woman, he was opposing her.
With no other choice, the old lady could only first tell everyone to take Drona back to his room. She arranged for servants to watch over him constantly, and only after confirming there were no problems did she leave, deciding to personally visit Mrs. Merry.
Mrs. Merry lived close to the Titan family but rarely received visits from the old lady, so she was curious what she wanted.
The moment they met, before the old lady could feign concern, Mrs. Merry cut her off, "We've known each other for so many years. I know your personality very well. You might as well just tell me why you're here."
