Chapter 157 Dr. Pascal Has Long Gone
Holden gritted his teeth and raised his hand, slapping Candy hard across the face. "Get out! You slut!"
Candy was completely enraged. She could tolerate insults from others, but how could Holden say this? Did he also think it was her fault that Zotfort took her?
Drona, who had been silent for a long time, finally couldn't hold back. "Why waste so much time talking? Just get a divorce."
Candy's ice-cold fist answered him.
Drona stayed home all year and rarely exercised, so his physical condition was just average. Hit hard in the cheek by Candy's punch, he immediately spat out blood along with two broken teeth.
Candy grabbed Drona by the collar, yanked him up, and said viciously, "What's between Holden and me is none of anyone else's business. If you people don't learn to shut up, I won't be polite anymore!"
Earlier Drona could threaten the old lady with his dirt on her, but now, facing Candy's fury, he was helpless. Candy didn't care who he was. Right now she feared no one—not even Holden.Want to kick her out? No way!
The old lady's face turned pale. Holden stepped forward, gritting his teeth, trying to grab Drona. He gripped Candy's wrist hard. Candy felt the pain and loosened her grip on Drona.
However—
"Father—!"
"Darling!"
Holden heard his mother and sister scream and spun around. Drona lay unconscious on the ground. Blood stained the nearby table corner. Holden's face went deathly pale as he crouched down and felt the wet blood on the back of Drona's head.
When Candy released him, Drona must have lost his balance and fallen backward. Holden had his back turned and couldn't catch him. His head had hit the table corner.Holden's hands trembled. "Quick, go get a doctor!"
The old lady had been frozen in shock. Only when she heard "doctor" did she react, immediately calling out loudly, "Don't just stand there, go get Dr. Pascal!"
Nina saw Candy still standing there in a daze. She felt a bit scared and quickly shouted, "I'll go!"
She lifted her skirt and ran out almost as if escaping. When she reached Candy, she instinctively pressed against the wall and hurried past, afraid Candy might suddenly go crazy and grab her to continue beating.
She didn't want to end up with a gash on her head like her father!
Candy didn't move. Seeing Drona lying there motionless, she finally snapped out of her anger and seemed at a loss.
Seeing Holden crouching beside Drona, Candy hesitantly took two steps closer. "Holden, I didn't mean to..."
Just now she had been controlled by hatred and did things she would never normally do. If she explained, Holden would surely listen.
However, Holden sensed her movement and stared at her with icy eyes, like a wolf guarding its territory, his whole body radiating a stay-away aura.
"Get out!" Holden felt like every word was forced through his clenched teeth. "Get out of my sight, I don't want to see you!"
The old lady cried breathlessly, "Make her leave! Keep her far away from us!"
Candy opened her mouth, not knowing what else to say for a moment.
"Just now... just now I was holding tight. You forced me to let go and didn't catch father. Holden, you can't blame this on me. You're responsible too..."
"Get out!"
Holden turned and glared at Candy, not wanting to hear any more excuses."Take one more step closer and I'll kill you!"
Candy was shocked into place by the murderous intent in Holden's eyes. After a long moment, she turned and went upstairs with tears in her eyes, hiding in her room and breaking down in sobs.
This wasn't what she intended!
Candy thought, she never meant to hurt anyone, but everyone in the Titan family wouldn't let her go. Every one of them used the most vicious words to hurt her. If Holden really wanted revenge, he should take it out on those who hurt and humiliated her!
"It's not my fault, it's not my problem."
Candy hugged her head tightly, crying breathlessly. "I'm the one who went through that, so why is everyone blaming me!"
Nina turned and went to Mephist's room. Recently, the Mephist couple rarely left their room—no one knew what they were doing. Nina had no time to wonder. The moment Trion opened the door, Nina grabbed her wrist, crying."Sister-in-law! That woman Candy caused father to hit his head. There's so much blood. Where's Dr. Pascal? Quick, have him go check on father!"
Trion had been sitting with Mephist discussing the Titan family's current expenses and business situation. When she heard Nina knocking, she originally didn't want to deal with it.
But Mephist nudged her arm. "Go ahead, Nina rarely comes to us. Let's see what's wrong."
Trion didn't want to refuse her beloved husband, so she could only walk to the door to open it. She didn't expect that when Nina came, she would drop what was practically bombshell news.
Mephist respected his father deeply, so hearing it concerned Drona, he immediately stood and walked to the door. "What did you say? Father was hurt by Candy? What was Holden doing!"
Nina nodded through her tears and briefly explained what happened, then turned to look at Trion. "Sister-in-law, hurry and call Dr. Pascal out! Or tell me where he's resting now, and I can go get him."
Hearing Nina's words, Trion and Mephist exchanged glances and shook their heads somewhat helplessly. "Dr. Pascal left here long ago."
Nina's eyes widened. "What!?"
Trion smiled bitterly. "We wanted to tell you before, but never got around to it. After the good news came back from the eastern battlefield, Dr. Pascal heard mother outside bragging while insulting Anne, and that night he packed his bags and left."
Out of selfish motives, she didn't mention that Dr. Pascal had advised her to leave the Titan family. After all, Trion had long had thoughts of leaving, but now just wasn't the time.
Nina was so anxious she cried. "Then what do we do? Father's still lying there waiting for treatment!"
