Chapter 39
Natalie's POV
“You don't mean that, do you?” I ask, dumbfounded. She scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“And why would I lie to you? “She asked instead. Ariana glanced at me, confused.
“But they don't have the same surname.” Ariana pointed out.
“That's due to Lucy's mental health. I'm pretty sure Xander must have told you about it.” She said. We nodded.
“Wait... Why are you telling us this?” I asked, not sure if I should trust her. She sighed.
“Lucy is coming back soon. I'm suspecting Tricia has something in store for her, but I don't know exactly what. Whatever it is... It's dangerous. And no force in the world can stop her.”
“Well, except for you guys. You're the only ones whose skin she hasn't gotten under yet. Please do something.”
“And how are you so sure we can do something?? We don't know what exactly Tricia has in mind,” Ariana says.
“You'll figure something out, I'm sure of that. Thanks for listening.” Bella said and walked away.
Ariana and I exchanged glances, still surprised by the revelation.
“Damn,” Ariana muttered quietly. Well, things can't get any better than this.

“It's just so weird, you know? How could Tricia do this to her sister... Stepsister I mean.” Ariana muttered, stuffing her face with ice cream. I was drinking orange juice instead. I shrugged.
“I don't know. Maybe the plan was targeted at Lucy and the rift between the brothers was just a fall out you know.”
“That could be true.” Ariana muffled, her mouth full of ice cream. She just can't stop taking sugar. I walked over and sat opposite her.
“You know something... When I first arrived, Tricia sent thugs to rape me.” I said. Ariana froze and choked on her ice cream. Coughing, she grabbed my juice from me and gulped it down, trying to calm herself.
“She did WHAT!?”
“You heard me. I was lucky that day. If not, what we'll be saying now would be different. So yeah, Tricia can be that evil.” I said and took a scoop from the ice cream. Ariana sneered.
“Well guess what? She just met her match. We are going to make her pay for that. But then, what are we going to do??”
Letting the ice cream melt in my mouth, I mulled on it a bit.
“I do have a plan... But it's going to be quite tricky.” I admitted. Ariana sat back in her chair.
“You know I hate your plans, don't you?”
“You do, but you go along with it, anyway.”
“That's because I have no choice... Anyway, what do you have in mind?”
I smirked and dropped the spoon. “We wait for Lucy to arrive, thereby letting Tricia do what she wants, then we sneak up on it.”
“Why does that sound like a bad idea?”
“Because it is a bad idea. We don't know what Tricia has in mind exactly. But it's the only way to catch her red-handed.”
“So for now, we wait?”
“Yes... We wait and see.”

Lucy's POV
“You can't go back to New Orleans now; you're not yet done with your therapy!” My aunt gently cautioned on the phone. I heaved a sigh. My fingers playing with the hem of the skirt, I closed my eyes tightly and replied.
“And only there for a few days, aunt. Besides, I haven't seen dad in a while. A visit now won't be bad.” I say quietly.
“Okay... What about Tricia? You two haven't been friends for a while now. How are you going to cope with the both of you in a house?”
“I'll find a way about to that. I have to go now, the Jet's waiting for me.” I say, hanging up. Once the car stops, the driver comes out and opens the door for me.
Meet Lucy Sanders, daughter of one of the biggest tycoons in New Orleans... And yeah, Tricia is my stepsister, when I was younger I used to think she was a pink monster with green hair and eyes and would never let me sleep at night. She's still a monster, although I don't know what color now. Blue or purple??
And I do have schizophrenia but due to years of therapy and drug, it's slightly unnoticeable... Until the incident that happened two years ago. Now the treatments just seem like wasting of time. I cringe as I make my way to the jet, female bodyguards beside me. My dad puts extra effort anytime he knows I'm coming home, which is why I don't like to do that. I'd rather just leave him alone so he can lead his life normally and so can I.
My coming home now is essential, if not important. The second the therapist had told me I was free to mingle among new people. I've been planning this trip. My aunt has called it a waste of time and just suggested I stay back and finish the therapy, but I don't think I can't wait any longer. I spent the entire year trying to get it out of my head that I wasn't a cheap whore, just like Tricia had called me the second I arrived back home.
It was terrible for everyone but even more for me and I hope I can fix that now that am a little better. Taking my seat and using my seatbelts, I motioned to the waitress that I was ready, and she went over to tell the captain. I relaxed in my seat and put on my earphones, quiet, serene songs coming out from it. New Orleans, here I come.

After a four-hour flight, I finally arrived at the New Orleans airport. The pilot parked and I came out of the plane. My dad was already waiting for me. I rushed over to him and hugged him.
“Hi, Dad. It's so nice to see you.” I said, all smiles. He smiled back and lightly pinched my cheeks.
“I missed you too, Lucy. I'm glad you're back.” He said.
“I'm glad to be here... After such a long time.” I said, and we chuckled a bit. Then looking around, I added, “Where's Tricia?”
“Oh, she's out with her friends. You know she can't come to see you, so you'll do welcoming at home.” He informed. She had better be out as well because I don't think I'm ready to see her just yet. I looked up at my dad and nodded.
“Okay, let's go then. I'm beginning to feel jet-lagged.”
“You'll soon begin to feel fine soon.” My dad said as he opened the door for me, and I got in. He got in as well and we drove out of the airport.

When I arrived home, Tricia wasn't there as well. My dad was only around for a while before he left for work, leaving me alone in the house. I never liked the big, quiet house, so the faster I got out the better for me. I walked into my room, which was still the same way I left it, meaning no one had gone into it, and sat on the bed. I had taken down most of the decorations and now I had to put them back up, but not now.
Sighing softly, I brought out a picture from my back pocket. It was a picture that I and Xander took. We were all smiles in the picture. I smiled sadly, tears pooling up in my eyes. That's never going to happen again. It was fun while it lasted, but right now it's just the pain that's left.... and regret.
I have to go see him... See if I can apologize to him. I'm pretty sure there's no getting back together. Yeah, apologize, that's what I'm going to do. Standing up from the bed and walking out of the room, taking a car, and driving out of the house, determined to see him. I just hope he doesn't chase me out... Well if he does, it's not his fault, anyway.

Xander's POV
I was alone at home. Xavier had gone out to attend to something and for some reason decided to go alone. We didn't argue as much as before, but we weren't still on talking terms either. One of us has to bridge that gap and talk to the other, but for some reason, that's where we are hesitating. I just hope we figure it out soon enough.
Someone knocked on the door and I instinctively thought it was Xavier, so I didn't bother standing up to check.
“Come in,” I yelled from the living room, where I was watching TV. The door opened quietly, and I almost didn't hear anyone walk in. I glanced up but when I didn't see anything, shrugged it off. Maybe Xavier's still outside. But curiosity got the better of me and I decided once and for all to check who it was. When I got to the door, it was not the person I was expecting to be there. It was the person I didn't think I'll see in a long while. She looked up at me and her lips twitched.
“Hi, Xander.” She greeted with a small wave. I was dumbfounded...
“Lucy?!”
