Chapter 175 CHAPTER 175
Chapter 175 CHAPTER 175
CASSIE'S POV
Stephan pulled the Bunker door open after Diana opened the latch from inside and a tear escaped my eyes as I saw her.
Bloodied, with her son in her hand.
While we fought one war outside, she fought another inside and her victory was sleeping peacefully in her hands.
"Did we win?" She asked as she walked out, her voice carrying none of the strain it had the past few weeks of her pregnancy.
"If you can call it that," I sighed and stretched my hands for the baby.
"His name is Cane," she said, pushing him into my bosom.
"Diane..." Tears flowed at the honour to my father, the man who's death I'd finally faced and accepted.
"You deserve to remember him with joy and for everything you've done for me and Jason, I wanted to..." I pulled her into a hug with my free hand, the baby strongly held on the other.
"You're amazing."
"That's what my mate said last night," she giggled.
"Oh Diana, don't ever change."
"Don't encourage her," Tiana declared from behind me and I turned to see her in almost one piece, her walk favouring one leg.
"Oh no, they got you?" I gasped
"It's no Biggie, Ana ripped the bastard to shreds. It feels awesome to actually kill your mate, don't let anyone tell you otherwise," she joked, winking at me.
Diana rushed and pulled her into a tight hug.
Both started crying before me, to my shock.
I guess their friendship developed better when I was with Hunter and I couldn't be happier.
"Look at you both, bonding and all that," I laughed, walking past them.
"It's just for today," Diana croaked in her arms and I shook my head with a smile and went towards the Pack house.
Not too close though, even though we'd stopped the fires before we went to get the guys from the bunker, it still wasn't a good environment for Cane.
Soon I found who I was looking for.
"Jason? I didn't know if you got a chance to actually look at him before you ran out to get your ribs broken."
He stalked away from Grant and hurried towards me, cleaning his hand on his clothes.
"Hell no, go wash your hands. Hell, take a damn bath, you stink of human and wolf blood."
"Aww Luna, I just want to hold him."
"And give him infections? No. You can look but no holding."
He nodded with a smile and came closer.
"Damn, who does he look like?"
"He's four hours old. He'll decide who he looks like by next week. Where's Hunter?"
Without the link working well, I couldn't sense them anymore.
I've never been more hurt by that question than I was now.
"They're at the Western border. Both Alphas are working with everyone else to get us all somewhere to sleep tonight."
"Well you guys do that, the girls, Cane and I are going to have a slumber party at the hotel."
"Great idea, whoever is strong enough to work will stay behind. We have a lot of rebuilding to do."
I sighed and looked around with sadness.
"That we do."
I headed towards the West end to find my mates, smiling as the baby adjusted in my arms.
Soon I saw them and even though there was no bond screaming 'there she is' to their heads, they both turned to look at me.
Like a well oiled machine, they both moved in tandem towards me.
"My queen," Hunter whispered.
"Hi Kitten, still pissed at me?"
"How could I? You both saved our lives."
"We did what any wolf could have done," Hunter said as he reached me, "you did what no one else could have done. The goddess should be grateful and bless you for saving her throne."
"Yes, and for a blessing," I said as they both surrounded me, "I'd like one of these."
"What? A shawl?" Stephan asked with confusion.
"A baby you dummy," Hunter tapped his shoulder.
"No violence around the child!" I chided them both jokingly.
"But baby are you sure? I know you and I got off on the wrong footing in that department and I don't want you to feel like you have to do this now because the war is over. The war isn't what determines when you're fine, you do."
"Thank you Stephan but I have confronted my past and cleared the path for my future and I'm ready for us to be a fuller house. I mean look at him, tell me you don't want one."
"I see him too," Hunter chuckled, peering into the baby's face.
"I take it back, move back both of you, the baby is fragile and you're both dirty."
"Jeez woman, we were trying to save the world, should we have worn safety gloves?" Hunter grinned.
"Yes, and fire fighting gears or something."
"She's funny," he said to Stephan who laughed with him.
"We'll be going to the hotel. I don't want the baby to be in this environment. Too much sooth and suffering."
"You're right, and you need to relax after all that power you expunged. I'm sure you feel exhausted from the inside."
"Edwina says it'll take a while, even months to come back and I'm fine with that. It has served uts purpose. You both can protect me while we wait for it."
"Even when it's back, we'll always protect you," Stephan kissed my temple.
"I've told Liam to come and take you guys, we'll handle everything over here okay?"
"Alright baby," I said, kissing both of them one after the other.
I sent a mental message to all the people coming with and we all gathered together at the spot where we'd dispatched all the humans.
We still don't know what we're going to do with all the information that's now out in the open but there'll be a meeting next week.
Everything will be resolved then, for now, we must rebuild.
That's not going to be too much of a hassle, we have a Pack of over six thousand men.
We can build quickly.
It's this deep emptiness inside of me that I'm concerned about.
