Killian.
I shook my head. “What are you talking about? I don’t even know if I succeeded. But I guess I need to go back to my real life. Since I will come to the future, I must prepare something for my past self’s arrival.”
“You better do,” Saskia said. “Oh, anyway, you need to focus on making wealth in the human world.”
I frowned. “What? Why would I do that?”
“Because your mission will be born in the human world.”
“What? Then my mission must have been taken care of easily! Humans were weak!”
I should have felt the excitement, but the loneliness still stirred me. It beat the excitement that should dominate my entire emotions.
I was confused. Why did I have these unnecessary emotions? What really happened to me during my travels? And why did Saskia say that?
Wait…
Something suddenly entered my head.
Saskia must have watched my entire trip.
“You did know what happened to my trip, right?”
Saskia just gave me a small smile. That was way different from the playful smile she used to give me. She used to mess with me about something I didn’t know.
But she was different now. Did something bad happen during my travels?
“What happened to my travel? Did you lose our bet? That's why you are acting so weird? Huh!” I flicked my fingers in the air. “I’ve already told you, I will win our little bet.”
Saskia didn’t counter me. He just gave me a lonely stare. And I was getting very curious. She was acting out of character. It was pushing me to ask what really happened to my trip.
“I can’t tell you, your highness. It would ruin everything if I told you what happened to your travel. You must wait for the right time when you remember everything.”
I didn't know why I felt uneasy. I’d never been like this until I met Laura.
Now, I think I will need her tea again.
And as if Saskia understood, her tea was ready for me.
“Drink up and you should start moving. Plan ahead for your arrival ten years from now.”
Ten years…
Corbin:
I still can’t believe what just happened. Things happened so fast. The moment I felt the pain inside me, I already knew my mate was in danger.
I quickly traced where she was, but I was already late. She was lifeless, lying on the ground. Her father was fuming with rage and wanted to kill the Lycan prince. And to my surprise, Prince Killian didn’t bother at all. He was never like that.
If anyone attacked him, he would tear him off into pieces. But at that moment, he seemed like he didn't care at all. He seemed to accept every attack, every punch, every pain. Because he was hurting more than the physical pain Draco had given him.
And I could not believe he was this selfish. How could he attempt to do something he was never sure of the result of? How could he kill our mate? Did he think it was better that our mate died rather than sharing her?
Yeah, that must be what was running inside his mind when he decided on that. He was selfish. What was new? I shouldn’t be surprised. What I regret the most is that I didn’t act right away. I should have realized how selfish he was, so I planned ahead of time.
And now, I was in front of Saskia’s house. She was my grandmother’s witch friend for a time I can’t remember. Sabrina said I could get my answers from Saskia. And here I was, still looking for solutions, though I knew I couldn’t bring back the dead.
The door opened after a few knocks.
“What can I do for you, future alpha of the Remus Pack?”
I wasn’t surprised that she already knew who I was. Grandma told me Saskia knew everything. I saw how devastated Sabrina was when she found out what happened to Yzabelle. And she would never have told me to come to Saskia if she knew the witch couldn’t help me.
“I guess the news about my future Luna has reached you,” I answered. She didn’t respond, and I already knew the answer from the pair of her sad beautiful eyes. “And I am here to ask for help.”
She widened her door and let me in. It was my first time coming here and if her house didn’t look appealing from outside, then it was the total opposite to the inside. The ambiance was very cozy and warm. I could smell something I had never smelled before. Something like the tangy scent of lemon grass and…
“It was your scent,” Saskia said. I turned to her with utter surprise. “Everyone who enters my house will smell their unique scent. And what you smelled right now was your own scent. You smelled clean and invigorating. That’s why I know you are a nice person. Laura would have been happy if she ended up with you. I was sure she would be protected.”
“Wait,” I interrupted her. “Who is Laura? My mate was Yzabelle. And she is now gone.”
“Yzabelle and Laura were one person. Yzabelle was Laura’s reincarnation.”
I was dumbfounded to hear that. And what utterly blew me away was when she started telling me tales. A story that I didn’t know existed. I mean, did I hear it all wrong? How come Yzabelle was supposed to be my grandmother? How come Laura was supposed to be Sabrina? I didn’t know time traveling could be possible. But Sabrina would not ask me to come here if this woman would only tell me lies.
She must be telling the truth.
And I could not believe the moon goddess was this cruel. How could she give someone else an ill-fated life?
I suddenly felt sorry for Yzabelle. Her first life was awful. And now, her second life was like this, a hybrid that was deprived of truth. She wasn’t given a chance to live the life she truly deserved. She wasn’t even able to nurture her abilities and powers. She could have done so much for herself, for her pack, if only the people around her hadn’t deprived her.
“You said her body was still intact, and you can still feel the mate bond?” Saskia interrupted my thoughts.
“Well,”
That was correct, even though I saw Yzabelle lifeless, the bond was still there. I could still feel it. I told Grandma about it, that's why she told me to come to Saskia. She was certain Saskia could still do something about it. Maybe she could still save my Yzabelle.
“There was still a way to bring her back to life, her soul and her wolf weren’t leaving her body yet,” Saskia announced the thing I had wanted to hear. “But the thing is, only an alpha can do that. If someone with alpha blood was willing to give up his life, we can still regain her, we can still bring her back to life.”
And I thought Saskia gave me hope. She did, but she took it away from me right after.
“It was the life of an Alpha to regain another life. Are you willing to sacrifice yours, Alpha Corbin?”
