Present time…
Sabrina.
It was almost late afternoon and Corbin wasn’t coming back yet, and I was starting to worry. I was the one who told him to come to Saskia and asked if we could still do something for Yzabelle.
I had already met Draco Bathory. After Yzabelle’s visit to Remus Pack, I decided to arrange a meeting with Draco. To thank him for taking care and loving Eva to the core. I found out how tragic their love story and my heart hurts for them. I could tell how broken Draco was after losing Eva. And now, he lost their only daughter. I could not imagine the pain he was dealing with right now.
After I found out that Yzabelle’s body was still intact, and it didn’t burn after the whole day of the cremation process, I already knew Yzabelle wasn’t meant to leave this world, this lifetime, yet.
Even Draco himself couldn’t explain why Yzabelle’s body was immune from the fire. He told me that when Eva died, he cremated her and that was what he was supposed to do with Yzabelle’s body. She was a hybrid vampire and werewolf, a special one. Since she didn’t turn to ashes after she died, just like how the vampires did when they left the world, he thought he should cremate her just like how he did with Eva. But even fire could not take her.
A mind link opened and it was Corbin in my head.
‘You should go back to Draco’s mansion before he can bring Yzabelle’s body to Caserta.’
I was surprised to hear that. Draco didn’t mention anything like that to me after my last visit to Yzabelle’s home shrine inside his manor.
Yeah, that was correct. Draco built a home shrine for Yzabelle’s body, since it remained untouched, even after the three-day straight cremation process. So, I supposed he would leave Yzabelle there.
‘What are you talking about? Yzabelle was inside her shrine.’ I answered through a mind link.
‘No, grandma. Draco was planning on transferring her to his mansion at Caserta and doing something that would ward off the werewolves and lycans,’ Corbin insisted.
‘How did you know that?’
‘I just know, and I didn’t have much time to explain everything. I had already found a way to bring her back, and all I needed was your help to stop Draco from bringing her to Caserta, or I would not be able to bring her back to life. If you can, please bring her to our place in Louvre Town.’
‘Wait, I did not get it. Why did she need to be inside the Remus pack?’
‘Because she belongs to us, grandma.’
Well, yeah. The party we held for her the first time she stepped inside our pack was her acceptance to be one of us, and she accepted it. Though I wasn’t sure Yzabelle understood what that meant. Regardless, she was a Remus. She was always a Remus. Her mother was born as a Remus and even though she was a hybrid, she was still a Remus. And I guess that made sense why Corbin was insisting on bringing Yzabelle to the pack when he brought her back to life.
‘Okay, I’ll do everything I can,’ I conceded. ‘I’ll come to Draco with Alpha Alaric. But, anyway, can you at least tell me how you are going to bring Yzabelle back?’
Corbin was silent for a while, so long that I thought the link was cut. But then I heard him again.
‘I could not tell you right now. I was running out of time and all I needed was your help.’
I could feel urgency, hope and… distress or was it great sadness? I understood the urgency and hope, but why was there distress and sadness? He should be hopeful and happy since we would be able to bring back his luna.
‘Alright, we will get moving,’ I answered him. ‘Be safe, honey,’
I was about to cut the link when I heard him again.
‘Grandma, you know that I love you, right?’
This time, the sadness in his voice was unfathomable. I was starting to be afraid. No one and nothing could ever make me feel afraid unless it was my family and my loved ones.
‘Of course I do.’ I forced myself to calm down.
‘Know that I will do everything and anything for our pack,’
‘Gosh, of course I knew that, Corbin, honey. That’s why we appointed you to become the next Alpha. Because we knew no one deserved and was worthy of it but you. Why are you suddenly saying all this? You’re starting to frighten me.’
I heard him give out a light chuckle.
‘I’m sorry. I was just… I just want you to know that I love you. And everything I did was in the best interest of our pack. Anyway, I don’t have enough time. Could you bring Yzabelle to our place before midnight?’
‘I’ll do my best. You take care.’
‘You too.’
‘And, Corbin…’ I sighed heavily. ‘I love you, honey,’
I didn’t know why, but I felt I needed to tell him now how much I love my sweet grandson.
‘I love you always and forever. Always remember that.’
He chuckled again. ‘Of course, I knew that. I need to get moving, grandma.’
‘Alright son, we’ll get moving also. Take care.’
‘I will,’ he said, and the link was cut.
I quickly got moving and informed Alaric about what Corbin told me. He appointed Mateo to stay in Louvre Town while we headed to Windsor and picked up Yzabelle. I was a little nervous about what must be going on and why Corbin sounded like that. He seemed like he was saying goodbye to his family. Especially when Mateo told me that Corbin mind-linked him to tell him that he loved him and to stay healthy. He did the same to his Alpha and grandfather.
As we approached Windsor City, my nervousness heightened. I didn’t know what was really going on, but I needed to stick to what Corbin asked us to do. As much as I wanted to find Corbin and ask what he was planning to do, I decided to continue with the plan, or it might ruin everything he was doing. We can't afford to make mistakes right at the moment.
