Who Is “E”?

Chapter 50 – Who Is “E”?

Iris was looking intently at her phone that she didn’t even look at Elliot when he entered their room. Elliot saw that he was ignored, thus, he raised his brow and sat beside her.

“What happened, my wife?” He asked her.

Iris glanced for a second to Elliot but didn’t say anything.

Elliot bit his lip and tilted his face before he asked her, “Is anything the matter?”

Iris squinted her nose and sighed before placing her phone down to the bed.

“You know, hubby. I am suspecting that something is not right.” She seriously told him as she pursed her lips. Her eyes looked dead serious as if she was about to talk about something very important.

Suddenly, Elliot felt that somehow, he screwed up badly. His heart started to beat fast.

“I have this application in my phone called “E”.” Iris said with a stern face and Elliot felt cold chills run down his spine.

“It’s been installee in my phone ever since I was sixteen years old. Whenever I have a question that I cannot ask anyone, I ask it.” She added.

“However, recently, I think that something is weird.” Iris stated and Elliot felt his heart tremor like crazy.

“Wh- what’s wrong?” Elliot carefully asked.

“I feel betrayed.” Iris spoke without emotion and Elliot felt that his soul left his body.

“Recently, whenever I text it, it rarely reply anymore. As if… “E” is busy doing something else.” Iris said as she frowned.

“Like – is the server down? Why is it that recently, I cannot reach “E” when I try to? I feel like I am losing a friend!” Iris exclaimed.

Elliot was rendered speechless with what he heard and it took him a few second before he slowly said, “E, he wouldn’t leave you." Elliot started to say as he braced his heart ready to confess.

"Actually…”

“Actually?" Iris cut him off.

"Hmm. Well, you are right. My automated friend will never leave me. The server would never be down and "E" will always accompany me until I grow old."

"My hubby will make sure of it."

"Right, hubby?"

Suddenly, Iris gave Elliot a knowing smile which made the latter freeze.
