Laziness is Not Allowed In This Family
Chapter 39 - Laziness is Not Allowed In This Family
Iris looked at her husband who was busy walking around their room.
For a second, he was fixing her blanket. Then the next second, he was on his way to the kitchen to get her another glass of water.
Iris basically stayed on the bed as Elliot listed the things that they should do and shouldn't do during her pregnancy.
"Hubby. Come sit here for a while." Iris called Elliot who was printing a thesis entitled, "Risks and Rewards During the First Trimester of Pregnancy."
Elliot heard her and hurriedly sat on her side while holding her hand.
"Do you want something?" He earnestly asked her.
"Hubby. It's Monday." She informed him as a matter of fact.
Elliot just nodded, as if what she said didn't matter.
"Elliot.. we both have to go to work!" She slightly scolded him. Because she was a hard-worker, Iris almost never missed her work. Even when she was sick, she would go to work unless there was a possibility that she might infect her co-workers.
In her mind, Iris thought, *I am only pregnant! I still should go and earn money... plus I always wanted to wear those cute maternity dresses. Then I will tell my hubby if I wanted to eat something weird... like mashed potato with caramel sauce.*
Iris looked at her husband and sighed.
"Hubby. I'm not uncomfortable anywhere. So I still want to work. We should earn more money for our baby, okay?" She softly asked him.
Elliot froze a moment before he took his wallet from his back pocket and gave it to Iris.
"This wallet contained a couple of billions. It should be enough to raise our baby for a few years?" He carefully asked.
Iris' hands trembled because of what she heard.
*Did he say a couple of... billions? For raising the baby for a few years?* Iris thought as she instantly returned the wallet to Elliot. Her little heart couldn't handle to hold that much money.
"Still... darling. Let's go to the office and do our duties? Our baby would want to have responsible parents... right?" Iris tried to convince her husband.
Elliot looked at his wife's pleading face and sighed. In truth, she didn't need to convince him. She could do anything she wanted and he would support her.
However, his heart felt restlessness as he thought of Iris working while being pregnant. Elliot felt down. He just wanted her to take a lot of rest and enjoy her life.
Iris looked at Elliot who was biting his lower lip and looking down. Her heart clenched and she sighed.
"Alright. I'll rest for today and return to the office tomorrow?" She softly asked.
Elliot immediately looked at her with twinkling eyes before he said, "How about you rest for a week?"
Iris' mind blanked a little from his cuteness. Still, she held her ground and started to bargain with him.
"Two days."
Elliot took her hands and tried to plea, "Four working days?"
Iris, however, didn't answer and just pursed her lips. Elliot leaned to her and nuzzled her nose. "Okay. Three days." He softly said as he kissed her eyes and her cheeks before kissing her ears. "Deal?" He alluringly whispered.
As expected, Iris held her chest and unconsciously nodded without thinking. Elliot burst into laughter.
Iris blinked as she realized what happened.
"Hey, that's illegal!" She grumpily said as she hit Elliot with a pillow.
Elliot just smiled as he blissfully received her pillow attacks. When Iris was done with her attacks, he grabbed her and pulled her into embrace.
"Thank you for agreeing." He gently said.
Iris humped but didn't struggle. Instead, she leaned her head on his chest and they hugged for a couple of seconds before Iris said, "Then... bring me home some of those cinnamon rolls they sell in the store near the office when you return from work."
Elliot's body suddenly felt rigid. It took him a few moments to reply, "I'm going to work?"
Iris pushed him a little and gave him a look as if asking, *Isn't that obvious?*
.........
Tiny bubbles burst the moment Elliot walked over, then, a series of laughter erupted. Elliot glanced at the children playing with the bubble gun with a gentle smile on his face. After a long, boring day at work, Elliot was on his way to get the cinnamon roll that his pregnant wife requested.
Just the thought of that made Elliot smile the whole day, making all of his staffs unable to work all day. Even the people he passed by on the street stopped their tracks and held their chests when they saw the smiling, gorgeous man.
However, Elliot stopped smiling and frowned when he remembered the previous blasts. The beings responsible for the fiasco were still at large.
*Have you found a clue?* He mindlinked as he walked through the busy night street.
*There's some movement in north. I'm almost certain that the humans were cooperating with the rogues.* A lazy sound replied.
*There are reports that the base of the Brotherhood of the Unseen is also in the North.* Elliot replied.
*Their known base is in the South. Looks like we have to visit both*. The other voice answered.
After a few seconds, the other voice said, *Lilly told me to hurry and fix this for you.*
Elliot chuckled as he heard the other voice sulked. Then, he told him, *I also want to end this as soon as possible. I'll go in the South and you go North?*
I*'ll go South. It's troublesome going to the North.* The other voice responded. *Your mother wants to spend more time with Iris. She said that she will look after her so we should hurry and clean this mess.* He continued.
*That's good. I'm more content if I leave Iris in my mother's care.* Elliot replied with his face forming a smirk.
*Heh*. The other voice sounded. *That's good too. The ladies can shop for baby clothes together.*
Elliot wasn't surprised to hear that his parents already knew about Iris' pregnancy. Still, he raised his brow and decided to call his father out, *My mother is not pregnant, why would she buy baby clothes?*
There was no reply for a second before Elliot heard him cheekily say, *With our momentum, she will be pregnant sooner rather than later.*
Elliot didn't reply and just directly cut off the link. A few minutes later, he stopped at a bakery and opened its door.
The cashier's eyes brightened up when she saw the extremely handsome man coming in their store.
"Hi! How may I help you?" She excitedly asked him.
Elliot looked around the cute bakery for a few seconds before he stared at the delicious looking cinnamon rolls and other pastries. When he was done observing, he looked up at the cashier and said, "I would like to buy this store."
