Misunderstanding
With trembling hands, Sarah replied, "I..."
Lucian immediately snatched the phone from Sarah's hand, his expression full of anger. "Don't you ever do this again, understand?"
Sarah, who was slumped on the floor, could only nod weakly. She felt increasingly squeezed into a predicament. Lucian pushed her roughly, sensing that Sarah's actions were an insult. Lucian quickly retreated, leaving Sarah behind.
"This is not the time for me to fight him," Sarah said to herself, trying to contain her anger. She knew she had to pretend to be obedient, at least for a while.
Marco was busy with his work, leaving Esme alone at the hospital. His mind drifted to the state of Esme, whom he had yet to meet.
"How is she?" Marco whispered to himself.
In the middle of his busy day, his eyes were closed by someone. The woman's soft voice broke Marco's reverie, "Guess who I am?"
Marco, with a sour face, replied, "Laura."
The woman smiled sweetly, "What are you thinking about, Marco? You look sad. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Marco hesitated for a moment before answering, "Well..."
Laura listened carefully, but Marco suddenly stopped what he was saying. "This is something I have to do. You don't have to help me," he said firmly.
"What is it? You're making me curious!" snapped Laura, but Marco's reply remained brittle.
The long-haired girl folded her arms, facing the silent Marco. Laura's curiosity was getting the better of her. Marco, fearing Laura's jealous reaction, decided to leave without explaining.
"What's wrong with her? I need to investigate this right away," Laura thought as she pondered in confusion.
After departing to meet someone, Lucian left Sarah to watch his departure from the window of her room.
"Why did she have to wake up when I did? Ah, damn it. I should have gotten up earlier. Why did I forget to check her phone last night?" Sarah thought, her eyes still half closed from sleepiness.
She turned her body over on the bed and thought about her next move. "I think I should ask her to go out," she thought as she smoothed the blanket around her body. The idea was like a new spirit that drove the sleepiness from her face.
While Sarah was busy planning the unexpected meeting, someone knocked; the room door opened slowly, and there was an anxious-looking maid. It was Deborah.
"What happened to you, Deborah?" asked Sarah, her expression reflecting concern.
Deborah seemed to hesitate for a moment before speaking. "Many other servants suspect me."
"You mean, what?" Sarah felt dumbfounded. She had never imagined that yesterday's exchange of roles could arouse suspicion among the servants.
"They all seemed to realize that we switched roles yesterday," Deborah explained, her face radiating concern.
"I'm sure it didn't leave any suspicions. But why would they realize that?" Sarah tried to digest the information she had just received.
"I don't know; I'm afraid if Mr. Lucian finds out. What if it reaches his ears?" Deborah said in a worried tone.
Sarah held Deborah's shoulders trustingly. "For now, don't panic too much. I'm sure Mr. Lucian won't fire you. I will protect you. Just don't betray me. Understood?"
Deborah nodded with relief. Sarah's service made her feel safe, like a friend who was always ready to protect her in times of trouble.
However, Sarah was not content to remain silent. There was a question lingering in her mind. "Who is the servant in charge of cleaning Lucian's room?" she asked, trying to get more information.
"Mr. Lucian cleans his room," Deborah replied, looking astonished.
"What? Why?" Sarah was getting more and more curious about her boss's strange habits.
"Perhaps there are many secrets in there. So, Mr. Lucian doesn't allow anyone to clean his room," Debora explained, trying to explain the oddity.
"What secrets? Don't all the servants here know that Lucian is a werewolf? Is it possible that he kept it a secret from the servants?" thought Sarah.
"Is there anything else you'd like to ask?" asked Deborah.
Sarah shook her head. She said, "Nothing. You can go."
Lunchtime had arrived, creating a pleasant atmosphere around the office. With her warm smile, Laura approached Marco, who was busy finishing his work.
"Let's have lunch at the usual place!" invited Laura, trying to distract Marco from the pile of work on his desk.
Marco, who looked busy and a little tense, raised his head. "Laura, I can't have lunch with you. I have other business," he said in a severe voice, trying to give a firm explanation.
Laura did not give up immediately. Eagerly, she declared, "I want to come with you. Your business is my business."
Marco shook his head slowly. "You can't come, Laura. Is my business. Eat with the others." Marco's expression reflected the worry and excitement in his eyes. It was as if something was urgent and could not be delayed.
Laura felt disappointment creep into her heart, yet she had no intention of giving up so quickly. "But, Marco, we always have lunch together. What's going on? Is there a problem?"
Marco took a deep breath before answering, "Laura, it's not your problem. I have something that needs to be resolved immediately. It has Nothing to do with you."
Laura, with a concerned look, tried to read Marco's expression. "Should I follow him?" she thought, feeling the need to support Marco.
However, Marco looked at his watch and bit his lip. "Sorry, Laura, I have to go now. We can have lunch together next time," he said, quickly standing up and leaving his desk.
Laura was silent for a moment, looking at Marco, who walked away with hurried steps. Her heart was pounding, trying to make sense of what was happening. Something unusual seemed to be floating in the air, and Laura needed to follow Marco.
Laura got into a taxi and asked the driver to chase after Marco's car, "Follow that car!"
Marco's car stopped in front of a hospital. With cautious steps, Laura followed in her lover's footsteps, worried Marco would notice her.
"Is it possible that his parents are sick? But, why didn't Marco tell me?" Laura wondered.
Marco hurriedly entered Esme's room. Worried, he hugged her, "Esme, how are you? How is the baby?"
Laura, who overheard, was surprised, "The baby?"
However, Laura did not immediately reveal her presence. She speculated that Marco might be having an affair. With her heart pounding, Laura approached them without creating a scene, "Congratulations on your new relationship!"
Feeling disappointed, Laura left Esme's room. Marco was still shocked, not expecting that Laura would follow him to the hospital.
"Go after her!" said Esme.
Marco immediately came to his senses. He immediately chased after Laura. However, Marco couldn't find any trace of her.
