Chapter 10: The feeling of falling in love

Aware of Sarah's presence in the doorway, Lucian invited her in with a firm, "Come in!"

Sarah stepped in cautiously, carrying a bottle of beer in her hand. "Sir, I brought some beer from the cellar. I'm sure you'll like it."

"I prefer the outfit you're wearing tonight, Sarah."

Lucian took the beer, placing it on the nightstand. His hand gently stroked Sarah's hair as he said, "Tonight, in this lingerie, you look gorgeous."

"Thank you, sir."

"You still remember, don't you, that you had to give birth to a boy to leave here?" asked Lucian.

"Yes, sir. I still remember," Sarah replied.

In the dim atmosphere, the tension between them was palpable. As Lucian sipped his beer, he returned to the topic, "The thought of having a son excites me, Sarah. It's the key to your freedom."

Sarah nodded, her eyes showing a combination of worry and determination. Sarah was sure she could get Lucian drunk tonight.

Esme's condition was alarming; blood continued to flow from her head as Marco rushed over to her. Carrying her gently, Marco quickly put Esme in his car, determined to get her to the hospital as soon as possible.

"Don't go, you bastard!" Marco shouted at the person responsible for Esme's accident. However, the car drove on regardless.

"Are you crying for me, Marco?" Esme hissed, a little sober.

"You have to hold on, Esme. For your son!"

Arriving at the hospital, Marco immediately brought Esme in, accompanied by a group of nurses. He held Esme's arm tightly, asking her to stay strong.

"Stay strong!" he pleaded.

Inside the emergency room, the medical team sprang into action. Marco nervously walked the hallway, his mind filled with fear and hope. Minutes felt like hours as he waited for news about Esme.

Finally, a doctor approached him with a severe face. "Sir, we are doing everything we can. It's a critical situation, but we'll let you know as soon as we have more information."

Marco nodded. He immediately contacted Lucian. He thought Lucian would care about Esme's well-being since she was pregnant with his child.

Lucian's cell phone chimed, breaking the silence of the room. Sarah spoke softly, "Sir, it seems to be an important call."

Lucian, a man with inherent elegance, immediately left the room to answer Marco's call outside. With irrepressible curiosity, Sarah followed his steps carefully, intending to catch a pinch of information from Lucian's conversation.

"What's wrong?" asked Lucian seriously once he answered the call.

"Esme was hit by a car," Marco said in a panicked voice. "She's in a critical condition. You need to get here immediately!"

Despite expressing seemingly cold indifference, Lucian asked again, "Then, what does it have to do with me? I don't have any relationship with her. If she dies, it's none of my business!"

Marco, trying to explain the situation, said, "What are you saying? She's carrying your child!"

Lucian heard the shocking news with an elusive expression. "The child she's carrying is not necessarily mine. So, don't blab about things that aren't certain!" Lucian said without showing his feelings.

"What?" Marco was silent momentarily, surprised by his helplessness to deliver such emotional news. Sarah shut her mouth. She was trying not to say anything wrong to Lucian.

Lucian firmly disconnected the call, leaving Marco staggering at the other end.

"Where is he?" Lucian asked Sarah if she was trying to escape this complicated situation. Just as he was about to exit, he bumped into Sarah in the hallway.

"Were you looking for me, sir?" asked Sarah innocently, holding up two glasses.

Lucian nodded briefly. Sarah smiled sweetly, "I brought two glasses for the beers we will enjoy."

"Are you trying to get me drunk, Sarah?" teased Lucian, seeing through his servant's subtle plan.

Sarah was taken aback momentarily but skillfully returned her smile, "What do you mean, sir?"

Lucian smiled. He said, "Today, I want to get drunk."

Sarah chuckled, breaking the tension. "Well, if that's what you want, sir. Let's go back to the room."

They both walked into the quiet room, sitting on the comfortable sofa. Sarah carefully poured beer into two glasses while Lucian sat and watched Sarah.

"Can a werewolf get drunk?" he hissed to himself.

"Sarah, if you had been an obedient girl from the start, perhaps, back then, I wouldn't have been so rude to you," Lucian whispered, his voice soft as the caress of the night breeze embracing the silence.

Sarah turned her head, her brown eyes meeting Lucian's sharp ones. "Don't bring up the past, sir. I'm sure you're not a cruel person, right? You wouldn't kill someone carrying your child, would you?" said Sarah, trying to find reassurance in Lucian's piercing gaze.

"What do you mean, Sarah?" asked Lucian, suspecting that Sarah might know about Esme.

Sarah took a deep breath before explaining. "I mean, if I were to bear your child, you wouldn't kill me and do something violent to me, would you?" she asked carefully, wanting to understand Lucian's train of thought.

"Of course, Sarah. As long as you are an obedient girl, whatever you want, I will do. As long as the child you carry is a baby boy," Lucian said confidently, a smile gracing his handsome face.

In the darkness of the silent room, her heart beat uncontrollably. Sarah wondered why she was so mesmerized by the gentleness of the man before her. Was this the love that was growing inside her? Her mind said, "Wait, this can't be happening!"

While trying to ease his muddled feelings, Lucian decided to have a beer. Sarah, with a friendly smile on her face, kept pouring beer into his glass. Lucian laughed, gulping down the contents with great enjoyment. "Sarah, I do want to get drunk, but don't pour too much," he said with a smile.

Sarah's worried look slipped as Lucian teased but was quickly answered by his warm laughter. "Did I make you uncomfortable, sir? I'm sorry," Sarah said with humility.

Lucian shook his head, "You are indeed a funny girl." He continued boldly, grabbing Sarah's hair and kissing her lips. They were immersed in a romantic moment, making Sarah forget everything she was supposed to be doing. Eventually, exhaustion overcame her, and she fell asleep on Lucian's shoulder.

The next day, Sarah's eyes opened. Lucian was still sleeping peacefully by her side. However, something seemed wrong. Lucian's cell phone was nowhere to be seen on the bedside table. Sarah, with a face full of worry, started looking for it. When she managed to find it in the corner of the room, her expression turned serious. There was something she had to check.

Suddenly, Lucian's voice broke the silence, "What are you doing with my cell phone, Sarah?"
